Lindsay Lohan is recovering from a boating incident she had over the weekend, which saw her lose a portion of her finger. The actress has since had surgery to repair the damage and appears to be in good spirits, as well as a lot of pain.

30-year-old 'The Canyons' star sliced off the tip of her ring finger on her left hand when she attempted to anchor a boat she was in. She told the story via social media on Sunday morning (October 2nd 2016), assuring any concerned followers that medics were able to re-attach the digit successfully.

Lindsay posted a photo and video of her bandaged finger, explaining: 'I almost lost my finger from the anchor. Well, I lost half my finger, thank goodness we found the piece of my finger ... I just had surgery to fix it... it hurts so bad.'

'This is the result of me trying to help anchor the boat by myself', she then added in the video. 'My poor finger!'

The original posts appear to have since been deleted, probably to draw the mass attention away from her injury and more towards the humanitarian work she has been doing in war-torn Aleppo, Syria, where she was visiting families affected by the bombings. It is not clear whether her accident took place during or after her visit.

TMZ elaborated on Lindsay's story with a more detailed walkthrough of how she sustained her injury. The publication alleges that she 'was enjoying Sunday in the ocean off Turkey when she tried pulling up the boat anchor and became entangled in it'.

It then went on to say that the anchor 'pulled her' into the water and ultimately snagged her finger, at which point the people she was with immediately scrambled to find the missing tip and get her to a hospital for emergency surgery.
