Oasis fans around the world rejoice as the band's frontman, Liam Gallagher, finally releases his much anticipated debut single. It's been a long wait for fans of the younger Gallagher brother as his last record 'Be' recorded with his band Beady Eye was released back in 2013.
The release of Wall Of Glass comes after the musician played a return gig at The Ritz in Manchester. The 45 year old played a mix of classic Oasis songs and new material including this lead track.
Many people believed that Liam would never embark on a solo career as he'd previously made his position very clear on twitter. Back in January 2016 he tweeted 'Solo record are you fu**ing tripping d***head im not a c**t LG X'
Liam's twitter exploits have once again been covered in the news this week as he wished his brother, Noel, a happy 50th birthday - a choice that surprised many folks given their relationship is tumultuous, to say the least. Explaining his decision, Liam said that he decided to reach out to his brother because despite the usual 'tittle tattle' they go through, he still loves his brother and he also wanted to remind his twitter followers just how old his brother is!
His new band includes various touring musicians who’ve worked with Liam before and Drew McConnell formerly of Babyshambles and The Earlies member Christian Madden. Liam and the band are playing a series of small shows over the next few weeks and will play Electric Brixton in London (June 1st), Olympia Theatre in Dublin (June 10th) and Glasgow Barrowlands (June 11th).
Only fleeting information is available about Liam’s solo record, early reports suggest the album will be called ‘As You Were’ and set for release in October. If Wall Of Glass is a prime example of what we can expect from the new record, we can hope that it'll be full of the rock 'n' roll swagger that Liam's most famous for.
