The 'Game Of Thrones' star has taken the decision to confirm her happy news to the public, in a bid to plead that she be allowed some privacy during this time. Strangely, she hasn't disclosed who the father of the child is, so we're yet to work out whether it was an unplanned occurrence or that she has some serious secret romance going on in her personal life.

Unless you're Lena Headey and happen to play one of the most evil female characters on television, Game Of Thrones' Cersei Lannister.

The 40-year-old British actress appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday (16th June) and channelled her character Cersei. Headey spends the majority of her time as Cersei drinking wine and insulting whoever crosses her path. And, as Kimmel pointed out, "No one drinks a goblet of wine like you do on Game of Thrones - in character of course."

Let’s talk about the best Game of Thrones finale in the show’s history. Unless you haven’t seen it yet, in which case be warned – EVERYTHING BELOW THIS IS SPOILERS.

Valar Morghulis and as it turned out, some women. The show’s motto proved true again last night, as the writers broke tradition and actually gave us some crucial plot twists in the season wrapup.

The episode opened with Jon Snow north of the wall and trying to negotiate a truce with Mance Rayder, aka the king of the Free Folk. Save for a few bruises to Jon’s ego, the whole thing seemed to be going pretty well. That is, until Stannis and his sizeable army came in for the most boring invasion ever, in classic Stannis style. The whole truce thing went down the drain, but it’s ok because it turns out that Stannis has no beef with the crows whatsoever. He doesn’t even have any beef with Mance, after Jon vouched for him. Isn’t it great when everyone’s being all honorable?

With the biggest and best Game of Thrones season finale so far (according to the writers) just a day away, HBO have released a sneak preview of the carnage to come (beware of spoilers for the previous three episodes). The clip is just 35 seconds long, but it does give a glimpse of the relevant storylines. In flashes, we see Bran and his band of misfits arrive at the heart tree, which they’ve been traveling to all season. Will we get to see Bran go full-on warg and finally control his power? And what’s the Reeds’ role in all of this? As Bran’s protectors/guides to the spirit world, they will probably get to shine at the end of this journey.

Meanwhile, in King’s Landing, Cercei appears to be having a very bitter heart-to-heart with The World’s Worst Dad, Tywin Lannister. It looks like he’ll finally have to face the whole incest issue and the fact that his family is generally falling apart.

In the game of thrones you win or you die. Well, HBO’s newest hit series is winning everything these days. Game of Thrones has been crowned HBO’s most popular show ever, topping even the once untouchable Sopranos. According to Entertainment Weekly, Thrones has an average gross audience of 18.4 million viewers across all platforms. In comparison, The Sopranos, which aired its final season in 2006, that is before the Netflix-driven TV apocalypse, averaged $18.2 million in its peak season.

Game of Thrones is HBO's biggest hit to date.

The last season of Thrones attracted an average gross audience of 14.4 million viewers per episode. The news comes just afterThrones set several recent ratings records for its own performance this season. HBO’s analysts have been waiting to confirm the news, until there was enough data from the current season.

For some people this past Sunday marked Easter, for others – a new Game of Thrones episode. Unfortunately, the latest episode – Breaker of Chains – will mostly be remembered for that scene. If you’ve seen the episode already, you know which one we’re talking about and if not, you probably shouldn’t be reading this anyway. Warning: spoilers ahead. Also, trigger warning for rape and sexual assault. 

Daenerys Targaryen was one of the first characters, whose arcs veered into rape territory.

The big discussion centers around the second scene of the episode, during which Jaime violently and disturbingly rapes Cercei next to the body of their dead son. And despite how actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau interprets it in a recent interview with The Daily Beast, during the scene, Cercei repeatedly rejects her brother – so, yes, it was rape.  Clearly, the writers aren’t messing around this season. But Game of Thrones has always been violent and this definitely isn’t the show’s first venture into sexual violence. So what’s the big deal? Well, apart from the fact that the scene was just awful to sit through, it also marks a significant departure from the books.

Before talking about this week’s Game of Thrones, we should probably dish out the warnings with a heavy hand. Beware of ALL THE SPOILERS for Season 4 Episode 3 Breaker of Chains. Also, this should go without saying, but all the trigger warnings: sexual assault, violence and various very graphic murders. Now that that’s out of the way…

Looks like Tyrion is about to reach the end of the line. We're betting on a plot twist though...

This episode sets up like a classic whodunit. With Joffrey dead (good riddance, although Jack Gleeson’s acting will be missed), Lord Tywin is trying to prepare little Tommen for his new role as king. The boy wants to be a “good king”, which would be admirable, if it weren’t for the fact that he’s like 12. Cercei, meanwhile, is only concerned with who killed her son. Well, she’s also concerned with getting revenge on Tyrion, whom she thinks is the killer, finding Sansa (who escaped during the commotion caused by Joff’s death) and just a bit of incest next to Joff’s body, but that’s just standard Westeros fare at this point.

Last night’s premiere of Game of Thrones might not count as a perfect success for HBO, but it definitely says something about a show, when the demand is so heavy that it crashes HBO Go’s servers. Heads up, for any Thrones fans, who are still behind on the premiere, don’t worry: you won’t find any spoilers ahead. According to TIME magazine, plenty of fans, stealing their parents’ HBO Go passwords, are yet to catch up after being left hanging by the dreaded Fatal Error message that Go presented on Sunday night in lieu of a Thrones episode. This is a repeat of the situation from a month ago, when Go crashed during the True Detective season finale. At least the person manning the HBO twitter was having fun with the whole debacle.

Let’s talk Game of Thrones. After the second Season 4 trailer, aptly titled Vengeance, was released, the internet – to put it mildly – went nuts. Because no one will be able to stop talking about GoT until April, let’s go into some details. Namely – what’s happening to the ladies in Thrones this season? The women on this show have been particularly disadvantaged from the start, presumably because the action is set in a magical, mystical equivalent of the middle ages. This season Cercei, Daenerys, Arya, Sansa and the rest of them won’t suffer any fools, by the looks of it.

Maisie Williams (Arya) - your favorite little sociopath wants revenge.

The trailer begins with Arya (Maisie Williams) saying “I can’t sleep until I say the names... the ones I’m going to kill.” You already know some serious vengeance is about to go down. Although in the trailer, we mostly see her wondering around aimlessly after the death of her mother and brother, so maybe our favorite little murderer isn’t ready to begin her reign of terror yet.

Just over a year after the release of The Purge, James DeMonaco will drop the next instalment of the chilling sci-fi thriller, The Purge: Anarchy. The original bombed with critics but fared surprisingly well at the box office, making $90 million on a $3 million budget and meaning an even more terrifying sequel was given the go-ahead straight away.

The idea behind The Purge is pretty simple yet chillingly believable: once a year on "Purge Night," everything becomes legal in America, including robbery, rape and murder, for 12 hours. The back-story is that the government needed a way to control the population whilst keeping crime down and for 364.5 days a year, US citizens enjoy a utopia of zero crime and high employment.

Whilst the first movie saw Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey harbour a murderous syndicate during the purge, meaning a chilling band of killers is brought to their front door. In Anarchy, a couple are risking their safety by driving home late on the night of the purge but they think they'll just about make it.

Game of Thrones got a treat last week, with a rather unusual 15-minute promo of the upcoming fourth season. It featured some things we expected and few surprises (given that it was a promo), but it’s sure to spur on the Thrones speculation ahead of the series 4 premiere on April 6.

Clary is next in a long line of demon slayers, and has to fulfil her destiny to fight off evil. Having teamed up with people like her, she descends to the dangerous alternate New York called Downworld.

300: Rise of an Empire promises to have a stronger female on-screen presence, which isn't exactly a difficult feat considering 300, released in 2007, was nothing but wash-board abs and a host of handsome men.
