The 28-year-old actress isn't willing to celebrate something that not everyone is legally allowed to do.
Although Lena Dunham and Fun's lead guitarist Jack Antonoff have been dating for going on three years, the loved up duo aren't planning on tying the knot until all states in the US legalize gay marriage.

During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday (March 9th), the 28-year-old actress stated that she refuses to walk down the aisle until everyone has the right to do so, at the moment 37 out of the 50 states have made gay marriage legal.
"I love that," the host Ellen said in a response to Dunham's revelation. "What a wonderful thing."
But for the 'Girls' creator, her decision to wait was an easy one. "The idea of having a celebration that can't be fully shared among all the people in my life and all the people that we love just doesn't really feel like a celebration at all," the two-time Golden Globe winner explained.
Dunham added, "So until that's something that everyone can join into with no sense of being left out on any level, politically, emotionally, it's just not something that we're gonna do."
"Well, we're on our way there, I hope," Ellen said.
The Obama administration, who called state bans on same-sex marriage "incompatible with the Constitution," filed a brief at the US Supreme Court on Friday (March 6th) that supports same-sex couples who are challenging laws in Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. The court has scheduled a hearing for the state cases on April 28th.
