Lea Seydoux was forced to miss the premiere of 'Diary of a Chambermaid' after "mishaps" on the set of the upcoming James Bond film, 'Spectre', caused the filming schedule to be changed.
Lea Seydoux missed the Berlin premiere of Diary of a Chambermaid in which she stars after "mishaps" on the set of the upcoming James Bond movie, Spectre. Seydoux was due to appear at the premiere on Saturday 7th January but the film's director, Benoit Jacquot, confirmed the 29-year-old actress was unable to attend. Seydoux stars opposite Daniel Craig in the upcoming Bond film, due to be released later this year. Unfortunately things do not appear to be running entirely smoothly as the filming schedule has been altered, causing Seydoux to miss the Berlin Film Festival event.

Diary of a Chambermaid is the third adaptation of Octave Mirbeau's 1900 novel of the same name. The latest adaptation stars Seydoux as the chambermaid heroine Célestine and Vincent Lindon as her love interest, Joseph. Benoit also served as co-writer alongside Hélène Zimmer. The story centres on Célestine, a chambermaid, who is much sought after for her beauty but does not wish to be beholden to her wealthy employers and their sexual proclivities. To escape servitude, she begins a relationship with a fellow servant, Joseph.
The film touches on prostitution, theft and anti-Semitism. All three issues, Benoit argues, are as relevant today as they were in 1900. "I believe it's not at all a period film, evoking a disappeared world, something that's just vanished. It's our world in its incipient stage," Benoit said at the premiere, as Reuters reports.
Seydoux's career has certainly been on the rise over the past two years. She was highly praised and awarded for her role in Blue Is the Warmest Colour, winning the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013 before appearing in The Grand Budapest Hotel and Saint Laurent the following year. She has been filming the upcoming Bond film in London but it appears a number of issues have led to Seydoux missing the premiere of Diary of a Chambermaid.
"There have been some mishaps on the shoot [of Spectre] over the last week, some accidents with the partner of the director and so the shooting schedule has been disrupted," Benoit explained to Reuters whilst at the Diary of a Chambermaid premiere.
Although Benoit did not go into further detail about the delay, it may partly be the result of an injury Craig sustained whilst filming a fight scene. Craig reportedly injured his knee, according to the Daily Mail, which has further delayed the increasingly tight schedule. Filming was reportedly set to commence again on Saturday which may account for Seydoux's absence.
