The former Oakland Raiders quarterback and Super Bowl XI winner died aged 69 after suffering complications from colon cancer.

Hanks took to to pay tribute to the sportsman, writing, "Goodbye Kenny Stabler, QB for the Oakland Raiders, who showed how cool it was to be cool under pressure. Go deep, baby. Hanx."

King adds, "RIP Ken Stabler, the legendary Raiders QB. Broke my heart a few times beating my Miami Dolphins. He was a great guy, who died much too soon" and TV host Carson Daly also used the microblogging site, adding, "RIP Ken Stabler Raiders. Thinking of his family and friends tonight."
