Just to set the tone of this article: Kylie Minogue doesn’t have to do disaster movies with Dwayne The Rock Johnson. 

But she is; Minogue has decided that her third major dramatic role will be in ‘San Andreas – an earthquake thriller starring The Rock. The film is being shot in in Queensland at the moment, but is obviously set in California along the San Andreas Fault – establishing shots will take place in San Francisco.

This isn’t Minogue’s first departure from singing infectious pop songs and being a gay icon. She played Cammy in the 1994 Jean-Claude Van Damme movie Street Fighter, and made her feature film debut in the 1989 film The Delinquents. Most recently she was seen at the Sydney Film Festival, co-starring alongside Nick Cave in stylish arthouse movie 20,000 Days on Earth.

Johnson has built a movie career for himself after a long and successful career as a professional wrestler. Believe it or not, the 42-year-old has enjoyed bit part to starring roles in 29 films, not to mention his work on 12 different TV shows. He’s also appeared on 5 different albums, making up quite the film/discography. To wit he has won two major awards: Choice Sleazebag at the Teen Choice Awards for The Mummy, and Favourite Male Butt Kicker at the Kids’ Choice Awards for Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. 

Brad Peyton (Journey 2: The Mysterious Island) will direct from a screenplay by the writers of hit horror The Conjuring, Carey and Chad Hayes.
