Kristen Wiig Leslie Jones Kate McKinnon

In among ALL the controversy surrounding the reboot of Ghostbusters, there was an actual film and it turned out that it wasn’t that bad at all. And now, as angry fanboys continue to rage and people refuse to get over the fact the remake is a cast of women, Sony has confirmed Ghostbusters 2.

Melissa McCarthyMelissa McCarthy has a great time filming the reboot Ghostbusters

The film was hugely hyped before its actual release - largely because of the issue of gender - but Sony sat on its hedges and director Paul Feig said the movie would need to make $500million before anyone important sat up and took notice.

Reports Indicate 'Ghostbusters' May Be Banned From Release In China

Ghostbusters Paul Feig Kristen Wiig Melissa McCarthy

After all the division and controversy over its roll-out last week, the new all-female Ghostbusters re-boot may not be getting a theatrical release in China – but not for that reason…

According to a report in Variety, the newly-released movie has not yet been screened by Chinese censors, but a source suggests that the film is likely to be blocked from release there because of rules that prohibit the promotion of “cults and superstitions”.

Sony has attempted to give Ghostbusters as much chance as possible of passing the censors – if it does come out in China, it will be re-titled Super Power Dare-To-Die Team.

Director Judd Apatow, who helmed Trainwreck and The 40-Year-Old Virgin, has hit out at those who’ve criticised the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot. Speaking to Uproxx, the director say that those who bash the female-led reboot are probably the same people who are ‘excited about the Donald Trump candidacy.’

GhostbustersJudd Apatow says Ghostbusters haters are probably Trump supporters.

“I would assume there’s a very large crossover of people who are doubtful Ghostbusters will be great and people excited about the Donald Trump candidacy,” Apatow said. “I would assume they are the exact same people. That movie is made by the great Paul Feig and stars the funniest people on Earth, so I couldn’t be more excited.”

Ghostbusters Paul Feig Kristen Wiig Melissa McCarthy

Nearly 32 years after Ghostbusters first hit cinemas, the full trailer for the all-female re-boot has finally been released – and everything looks pretty faithful to the offbeat, deadpan humour of the original, despite what the sexist naysayers are prophesying.

Director Paul Feig reunites with his long-term creative foils Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy as well as ‘Saturday Night Live’ regulars Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. The 53 year old filmmaker has previously described the irate response to the all-girl line-up as “vile, misogynistic s***”, and the trailer looks as if it’ll go a long way to proving him right.

Sharp wit and humour is on display, as well as some neatly touched-up special effects and digitally rendered music, and looks like it’s avoided the pitfall over being overdone in comparison to the much-beloved originals.

Teaser Trailer For New 'Ghostbusters' Released

Ghostbusters Kristen Wiig Melissa McCarthy

Billed as one of the summer’s biggest cinema releases, we’ve heard surprising little about the highly anticipated Ghostbusters remake – until now. Sony has released a teaser for the cult franchise’s third instalment, with a full trailer due to drop next month.

On Sunday (February 14th), the studio put out a 28-second clip, in which none of the four female leads are featured. Instead, we see shots of armed police scrambling through the streets of New York to surround an unseen entity (another Marshmallow Man??), as the words ‘Who. You. Gonna. Call?’ appear on the screen.

At the end, a date of March 3rd is promised for a full trailer, ahead of a scheduled July 15th theatrical release later this year.

Zoolander 2 Review

Good

With virtually the same blend of wit and idiocy as the 2001 original, this fashion-scene comedy is funny enough to spark some solid laughter in between the gags that fall flat. The punchlines are simple and the characters paper thin, but this world is so ripe for parody that the rather awkward mix of in-jokes and satire can't help but hit the bullseye every now and then.

Things haven't been great for top supermodel Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) over the past 15 years. His reading school collapsed in tragedy, sending him to live as a "hermit crab" in the wilds of northern New Jersey. And with a facial injury, his cohort Hansel (Owen Wilson) has retired in the wasteland of Malibu. Then Italian designer Atoz (Kristen Wiig) summons them to Rome, just as Interpol agent Valentina (Penelope Cruz) is investigating a series of popstar murders that seem linked to Derek's past. Teaming up with Valentina, Derek and Hansel track down their old nemesis Mugatu (Will Ferrell), reconnect with Derek's long-lost son (Cyrus Arnold) and discover a sinister conspiracy.

Stiller directs the film as if it's the next instalment in the Da Vinci Code saga, complete with shadowy secret rituals and ominous chase sequences. But the dialogue remains utterly ludicrous, as this "ridiculously good-looking" duo go through their individual existential crises, clueless that the world has moved on without them. Stiller and Wilson reprise the hang-dog charm that made the characters so likeable the first time round. Although this time Derek gets some emotional depth, while Hansel plays the action hero. Ferrell and Wiig camp it up to the rafters in their colourful roles, while Cruz vamps through the film in bombshell love-interest mode. Her deadpan performance might actually be the funniest thing in the movie. And each scene is packed with big-star cameos, some of which are genuinely amusing.

Zoolander 2 - Trailer Trailer

Derek, Hansel and some other familiar faces are back in Zoolander 2! After offering their services to 'The Derek Zoolander Center for Kids Who Can't Read Good and Wanna Learn to Do Other Stuff Good Too' Derek and Hansel find themselves pining for a time when they were the biggest names in fashion. Only a few years might've past but the fashion industry is a very different place and one that's left them FAR behind.

When an Interpol agent finds a unique pattern to a series of deaths - some of the world's most beautiful people - she knows that Derek Zoolander is the only one who can help catch the killer. Pop stars including Demi Lovato and Lenny Kravitz have all been found dead with a certain look alluding to Blue Steel on their face.

Zoolander 2 is the follow up to the 2001 film and it once again sees Stiller team up with Owen Wilson and Will Ferrell. The film was written by Ben Stiller and Justin Theroux and will be released in cinemas from February 2016.

'The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty' - Ok, So It's Either Great, Or Terrible.

Ben Stiller Kristen Wiig

Ben Stiller's movieThe Secret Life of Walter Mitty - based on James Thurber's classic story - has severely divided critics ahead of its release on Christmas Day. Back in October, we speculated on the possibility it being too avant-garde for Hollywood based on the strength of the trailer and with a 37% score on Rotten Tomatoes, it seems Stiller's project hasn't quite worked out (at least most people don't think so).

Girl Most Likely Review

Very Good

Even though this comedy has a tendency to dip into cartoonish silliness, it's anchored by a razor-sharp performance by Wiig as a woman forced to confront everything she hates about herself. The film is also packed with hilarious moments that keep us laughing, and it also gets surprisingly sexy and emotional along the way.

Wiig plays Imogene, who has done nothing with her career after winning a rising-star playwright award. Then she loses her day job as a listings editor just as her high-flier boyfriend (Petsos) leaves her. When she fakes a suicide attempt to get some attention, she's court-ordered to move in with her free-spirited mother Zelda (Bening) back home in New Jersey. There she struggles with Zelda's colourful boyfriend George (Dillon), who claims to be a top-secret spy, her goofy-inventor brother Ralph (Fitzgerald) and the smart, sexy and very young lodger Lee (Criss) who rents her old bedroom. But just as she's beginning to cope, a family secret shakes her to the core.

Even as the script strains to be improbably zany, Wiig holds the film together with a startlingly honest comical turn. From the start we knew she didn't fit in with her Manhattan friends, and her slightly out-of-control personality is much more suited to the Jersey Shore. Her scenes with Criss are very nicely played, as they develop an unexpected relationship. By contrast, Bening struggles to appear as dim as Zelda seems to be, while Dillon hams it up as her fantasist toy boy and Fitzgerald's Ralph is so nutty that he seems to be from another movie altogether.

The End Has No End? Kristen Wiig And Strokes Drummer Fab Moretti Split.

Kristen Wiig Fabrizio Moretti Drew Barrymore

Kristen Wiig and Fabrizio Moretti appear to have parted ways after a year and a half of dating according to sources at Us Weekly.

The 'SNL' star and The Strokes drummer revealed themselves as a couple to the media at the beginning of 2012 after speculation arose from the pair being spotted canoodling at a Black Keys concert at the end of 2011.

But, for currently unknown reasons, the pair have decided to split though Us Weekly insists the situation is still friendly. 'It was very amicable and they will remain friends', a source told the publication. It wasn't exactly a major long-term relationship, but the separation is a shame nonetheless as it was only a year ago Kristen declared to Marie Claire, 'I'm happier than I've ever been and I feel very lucky right now', and thus adding, 'Where I am now. Who he is. Those are the two big ones', (we're guessing 'he' is Fab).

Jason Sudeikis Bill Hader Fred Armisen Andy Samberg Seth Meyers Kristen Wiig Jennifer Aniston Emma Roberts Seth Gordon Jason Bateman Charlie Day

Jason Sudeikis, the most high profile member of the Saturday Night Live cast, has announced he will not be returning to the show in the fall. Sudeikis is following comedians Bill Hader, Fred Armisen, Andy Samberg, Seth Meyers and Kristen Wiig out of the long-running show, leaving NBC bosses with a dilemma on their hands as they seek to keep the show relevant, popular and most of all funny for its 39th season.

Sudeikis, who has worked on the show for 10 years, announced the news during a taping of the Late Show with David Letterman,

"Yeah, I'm going to leave. Yeah, I'm not coming back next fall." he told the veteran host, to a bewildered audience. Letterman had apparently not heard of the departure and began asking the actor questions about life working on the show, with the 37-year-old dropping the bombshell shortly after.

Despicable Me 2’s special July 4th was independent in more ways that one: it was Universals biggest ever opening for a movie, with a total of $34.3m on Wednesday, despite most American’s enjoying the seasonally good weather. This has set it up to perform well over the weekend, as those little minions continue to delight audiences.

The hilarious animation – starring Steve Carell as the evil genius-cum-family man Gru – followed up the impressive Wednesday with a solid Thursday, managing $23.5m. All in all, a domestic total of $84.3m so far is good going, especially considering it’s still got a holiday weekend to sell. Even better news for Universal is, considering it’s an animation, it was rather cheap, costing a mere $76m to make – it’s already broken even and more!

Meanwhile, The Lone Ranger - with Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer - is likely to take around $50 million, meaning it will need to do huge business internationally to recoup its mega budget of $250 million. Director Gore Verbinski and Depp reunited with Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Buckheimer, though the Hollywood A-lister's casting as Tonto appears to have been a misguided move and audiences appear underwhelmed with Hammer as the Ranger.

Mark Kermode seems to think so, in a golden review: "these yellow weebles are comedy gold, their slapstick antics blending a simplicity of form with a complexity of expression rooted in the traditions of silent cinema."

'Despicable Me 2': Early Reviews Round-Up

Steve Carell Miranda Cosgrove Benjamin Bratt Steve Coogan Kristen Wiig Russell Brand

Despicable Me 2, the sequel to the first 2010 film, is due to be released in cinemas on Wednesday. Early critical reviews have been largely positive. Keith Uhlich of the New York Times said the franchise has improved since the last film and that it is "delights more often than it disappoints".

Whilst most of the critics have enjoyed the film there are others who criticised Universal Pictures for its lack of originality. Ryan Gilbey of The Statesman said the film is "a completely redundant follow-up to the perfectly delightful 2010 original". Others have drawn comparisons with Monsters University, claiming Despicable Me 2 "has more laughs in the first 5 minutes" than Monsters managed in 90 (according to Roger Moore of McClatchy-Tribune News Service).

Despicable Me 2 Review

Very Good

With the same teams of writers and directors, this sequel sticks closely to the winning formula of the 2010 original: pile on so much snappy humour and colourful wackiness that no one will worry about the plot. So the film is sweetly engaging and relentlessly hilarious, but there's nothing particularly inventive or memorable about it.

After discovering his less villainous side, Gru (Carell) is now trying to go legit with his sidekick Dr Nefario (Brand) and their horde of mischievous yellow minions. Gru is also enjoying the challenges of being a father to his lively adopted daughters Margo, Agnes and Edith (Cosgrove, Fisher and Gaier). Then he meets the undercover spy Lucy (Wiig) and her boss Silas (Coogan), who ask for his help hunting down the bad guy who stole a secret government chemical. Gru reluctantly takes the job, and his suspicion falls on Eduardo (Bratt), not because he looks just like former fellow villain El Macho, but because Margo is in love with his surly teen son (Arias).

As before, the film mixes cute family sentimentality with wacky cartoon slapstick in which everyone gets smashed, pounded and blown up but emerges unscathed to face the next bit of outrageous mayhem. The violent undercurrents are sometimes a little disturbing, especially when children are talking about murder, but the movie's wildly ridiculous tone constantly reminds us to stop taking anything seriously. Thankfully, we're constantly distracted by the whizzy, action-packed animation, which makes especially witty use of the 3D.

BREAKING! The Legend Returns: Full Anchorman 2 Trailer FINALLY Released As Filming Wraps Up [Trailer]

Will Ferrell Christina Applegate Steve Carell Kristen Wiig Paul Rudd David Koechner

After teaser videos have circulated for weeks, a full Anchorman 2: The Legend Returns trailer has finally been released, signalling the world is about to go crazy for the 'big deal' that is Ron Burgundy all over again. Planned for a late 2013 release, the film has been in the pipeline for quite some time - after first announcements in 2011 - making sure fan excitement reaches maximum levels of rabid hysteria before the film is finally released this Christmas.

Still classy in San Diego, the film will catch up with the legendary sleazeball and moustachioed news anchor, Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), and feature much of the same cast, including Steve Carell as Brick Tamland, Paul Rudd as Brian Fantana, David Koechner as Champ Kind and Christina Applegate as Veronica Corningstone. Only this movie sees the crew years on from where the first Anchorman left off, living life in the eighties and faced with the prospect of a rolling 24 hour news channel.

Now the team have more competition in the form of a handsome, well-dressed rival anchor to deal with and plenty more cringeworthy sticky situations for Burgundy.

Anchorman 2 Trailer

Ron Burgundy, Brian Fantana, Brick Tamland and Champ Kind have now hit the eighties and things are a little different. The legendary San Diego news anchors are now embarking on a different project, as part of a 24 hour news channel, but now they have fresh competition in the form of a young, handsome and well-dressed fellow anchor. Ron continues to put himself in sticky situations, this time involving some awkward racism with his new girlfriend's family during a social occasion among many other things. Will their antics extend beyond their previous capers involving angry bears and mean bikers?  Or will the eighties bring with it a more streetwise news bunch? We doubt the latter.

The sequel to 2004's 'Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy' is set to hit our screens soon entitled 'Anchorman: The Legend Continues'. We'll likely be seeing yet more hijinks from one of Hollywood's favourite comedy casts as they return following at massive $85 million gross from the original movie. Produced again by Judd Apatow ('The 40 Year Old Virgin', 'Knocked Up', 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall'), Adam McKay ('Step Brothers', 'The Other Guys', 'Talladega Nights') also makes a return as director and co-writer alongside Will Ferrell. It is scheduled for release in the UK on December 20th 2013.

Kristen Wiig plays Agent Lucy Wilde, Gru's partner in crime and love interest, in animated comedy 'Despicable Me 2'. Former evil-doer Gru, who once attempted the career-defining heist of stealing the moon, has seemingly left a life of evil deeds and landed himself a new kind of job. Albeit fairly reluctantly and without actually having a choice, he has been enlisted by Silas Ramsbottom of the Anti-Villain League on a world-rescue mission as a new villain arrives in town, to the delight and pride of his young adopted daughters Agnes, Edith and Margo. He and Agent Lucy Wilde must now embark on a new kind of adventure with the help of Gru's faithful, blabbering Minions. But with interfering neighbours coupled with his girls becoming older and smarter, saving the world from a ruthless rogue seems the least of his worries.

'Despicable Me 2' is the wonderful follow-up to the Golden Globe nominated 2010 animated comedy 'Despicable Me'. It has been produced by the geniuses behind 'Ice Age' and 'Shark Tale' comes 'Despicable Me 2' and sees the thrilling return of directors Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud ('The Lorax') with screenwriters Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio ('The Santa Clause 2', 'Horton Hears a Who!', 'Hop'). Anchorman 2 Trailer

Ron Burgundy, Brian Fantana, Brick Tamland and Champ Kind return in this hilarious sequel to 2004's 'Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy' which saw Ron land himself a hot girlfriend, get attacked by a bear and have his dog thrown over a bridge by an angry biker. The legendary San Diego news anchors are doubtlessly set to entertain us with more news casting exploits which, according to the latest teaser trailer, will involve 'submachine guns and boobies' and getting 'stinky'. One thing's for sure, it's going to be funnier, weirder and much ruder.

Ron Burgundy Is Coming With Better Hair Than Ever In New Anchorman 2 Trailer

Will Ferrell Paul Rudd Vince Vaughn Christina Applegate Kanye West Kristen Wiig Amy Poehler Tina Fey Drake Harrison Ford

As the excitement builds for the Anchorman sequel Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, another trailer for the film was released. You can check out the second trailer, featuring the beloved cast of Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Vince Vaughn and Steve Carell. But we already knew they were in it and, exciting as that prospect is, the cameos, which have been announced recently, make this movie look even better. Viewers will get appearances by actors like Kanye West, Kristen Wiig, Amy Poehler, Jim Carrey, Tina Fey and Harrison Ford, New York Daily News reports.

And the cameos just keep coming. After Kanye West, busy as he is, wrapped his scenes in New York last week, there was another surprising appearance on set – namely an actor, sporting a fro and the appropriate 70s duds, who looked suspiciously like singer/rapper Drake. Apparently the "Take Care" performer will be the latest star in the constellation already appearing in this film. Not only that, but the Daily News also posted several pictures of stars Will Ferrell and Christina Applegate taken during shooting. They look fierce, they look ready to go, but most of all, they look, unsurprisingly, very 70s. And if nothing else, the stills make it obvious that Anchorman 2 will definitely feature some excellent hairdos.

Kristen Wiig's "The Girl Most Likely" Is Likely To Win Moviegoers' Hearts This Summer

Kristen Wiig

Raise your hand, if you’re super excited about Kristen Wiig’s The Girl Most Likely. If you didn’t, you certainly should have. It stars Kristen Wiig (that in itself is reason enough to want to see it) and from the trailer, the film seems like a sort of Silver Linings Playbook with the genders reversed. This time, the lovable loser, who gets driven to temporary insanity is played by Wiig and there’s also a booze-and-bets addict of a mom, who adds another stumbling block on the path to recovery. But oh wait, we haven’t even gotten to the best part yet.

Just as Silver Linings had its romantic interest, who helps the protagonist overcome his troubles, played by Jennifer Lawrence (admittedly, a manic pixie dream girl character), so does Girl Most Likely. And in this case, the dreamy young rescuer will be played by… drumroll please… Darren Chris! Fangirls, you can scream now. This film will be the Glee heartthrob’s first ever feature film role and, from the trailer, it seems like it’s going to allow him to finally come into his own as an actor. It’s also going to allow him to look rather gorgeous on a big screen, but that’s probably beside the point. All in all, The Girl Most Likely probably won’t be a summer blockbuster, but it does look most likely to provide some clever, heartfelt, light entertainment during the long hot summer months. The movie opens July 19th. You’re free to make up your own mind about it though, after checking out the trailer below.

Kristen Wiig Returning To SNL To Host – Joined By Ben Affleck

Kristen Wiig Ben Affleck Saturday Night Live

Returning from whence she came, well, her fame anyway, Kristen Wiig will be back on Saturday Night Live as host for one night only. And she’ll be joined by Ben Affleck for what promises to be a memorable evening at SNL studios.

Affleck will in fact become a member of the 5-time club - a feat recently achieved by Justin Timberlake – when he joins Wiig to close out the 38th season of this comedy juggernaut. She recently said that she has felt "lost" since leaving the show. "The show was seven years of my life and a six-day work week and you're constantly with your friends all day, all night," she explained. "You sort of live and breathe the show. Then, when it's over, you kind of feel a little lost … It was definitely an adjustment -- even just the hours and [no longer] being in New York," she said. Vampire Weekend are set to provide the soundtrack for proceedings.

Saturday Night Live Is Betting On Familiar Faces Kristen Wiig And Ben Affleck For Final Two Episodes

Kristen Wiig Ben Affleck Kanye West Vampire Weekend

Kristen Wiig is an SNL favorite and she’s coming back for another hosting turn on May 11th. The news if very exciting, since we already know Wiig can do it and do it well. She has her own brand of comedy and her impressions are almost always spot on. Remember Lana del Ray? Yes, there’s no doubt that the lady can act. Wiig has some hilarious original characters, like “flirting expert” Rebecca Larue, but her main strength is in impressions. She’s done everyone from Madonna to Drew Barrymore – no one is safe from the comedienne’s wit. And of course, ever the show to come up with an unexpected combination, the musical guests for that week will be New York natives Vampire Weekend. The May 11th episode will be worth tuning in, but there’s more.

One week later, the May 18th season finale of Saturday Night Live will be jam packed with celebrities and interesting guests. Ben Affleck is set to appear on the comedy show, E!News has announced. He will be accompanied by none other than Kanye West as the traditional musical guest. We’ve heard so much of Affleck in the role of a director recently, that it’s easy to forget that he was an actor first. The SNL gig should be a welcome change of pace then. This will be the fifth time he gets to host the show, but Affleck hasn’t done the job since way back in 2008. It’ll be cool to see what he comes up with this time, especially since everyone wants to see SNL go out with a bang.

Ben Affleck, Vanity Fair Oscar PartyKristen Wiig, CinemaCon
Wiig and Afflec will be hosting the final two episodes for the season.

Kristen Wiig 'Lost' Without SNL In Her Life, Excited For Anchorman Sequel

Kristen Wiig

Kristen Wiig Lost Without SNL? Kristen Wiig has more than the obvious reasons to be excited about starring in Will Ferrell’s new Anchorman film. Aside from the fact that it will be a ton of fun to film, is pretty much guaranteed to be a hit and will make her a bit richer, it… well, it gives her something to do. Since she left Saturday Night Live, the Bridesmaid star reveals, she has struggled with the different pace that her life has taken; being away from New York, and not working on the same project six days a week with people that came to be her friends.

“The show was seven years of my life and a six-day work week and you’re constantly with your friends all day, all night.” Wiig explained. “You sort of live and breathe the show,” she continued. “Then, when it’s over, you kind of feel a little lost… it was definitely an adjustment - even just the hours and [no longer] being in New York.”

Luckily for her sanity, the Bridesmaids star is soon to start filming Anchorman: The Legend Continues. She’s pretty excited about the prospect too, by the sounds of it: “I’m leaving in a few days to go film that. I’m so excited!” she said. “I hope I can get thru the scenes without ruining it by laughing! I’m so excited.

The Minions Are Back! 'Despicable Me 2' Full Trailer Finally Arrives (Trailer And Pictures)

Steve Carell Elsie Fisher Dana Gaier Miranda Cosgrove Kristen Wiig Steve Coogan Pierre Coffin Cinco Paul Ken Daurio

Gru And The GirlsGru And The Girls

The Despicable Me 2 trailer is finally here seeing the return of your favourite Despicable Me characters including former supervillain Gru, his beloved foster children and his faithful Minions, as well as some entertaining new additions to the Despicable Me cast.

We got the slightly bizarre teaser over a year ago showing nothing more than the funny yellow aliens that serve Gru (Steve Carell) performing an adorable rendition of The Beach Boys' hit song 'Barbara Ann'; it certainly managed to keep the plot under wraps though it was far from a disappointing introduction into the much anticipated sequel to this Golden Globe nominated flick. Following Gru's evil plot to steal a shrink ray and hijack the moon in the first film, he adopted three young girls named Agnes (Elsie Fisher), Edith (Dana Gaier) and Margo (Miranda Cosgrove) after taking pity on their misfortune. This time round, it looks like Gru has taken fatherhood in his stride and devious deeds seem to be the last thing he's thinking about, particularly as the eldest girl is getting, well, a little too old for his liking. Just as the prospect of a quiet life looms, however, he is abducted by a feisty agent (Kristen Wiig) from the Anti-Villain League, headed by the pompous Silas Ramsbottom (Steve Coogan) who wish to use him to help save the world from a new evil - and Gru is well up for the challenge!

Despicable Me 2 Trailer

Having hatched an evil plot to steal the moon in the first movie, Gru appears to have let fatherhood take over from his dastardly passions after the adoption of Agnes, Edith and Margo. However, his bad deeds have not been forgotten. As his new daughters get older, he is forced to join Agent Lucy Wilde of the Anti-Villain League in their plot to overthrow a new evil rival with plans way beyond their competency. While his minions attempt to rescue him from this difficult new project, he is ultimately forced to agree to the mission after facing formidable, if ridiculously named, company director Silas Ramsbottom. It's Gru's first time on the side of good - but will he find it a suitable career move from his former immoral ways? Or will this new evil give him plenty of new ideas?

'Despicable Me 2' was the hugely anticipated follow-up to Golden Globe nominated animation 'Despicable Me'. From the producers of 'Ice Age' and 'Shark Tale', it has been directed by Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud ('The Lorax') alongside writers Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio ('The Santa Clause 2', 'Horton Hears a Who!', 'Hop'). Featuring that smash hit single 'Happy' by Pharrell Williams, the film was released in July 2013.

Always The Bridesmaid? Melissa McCarthy’s Identity Thief Won’t Steal Your Heart

Melissa McCarthy Jason Bateman Kristen Wiig Tina Fey Seth Gordon

For some time, it looked as though Melissa McCarthy was on track to follow the likes of Kristen Wiig and Tina Fey, to becoming one of those faultless American comic actresses that can seemingly do no wrong. We fell in love with her in Bridesmaids and she kept us entertained in 'Mike and Molly'. Her next major release, though, Identity Thief, has not gone down well with the critics and looks to be something of a doozy, with its clichéd slapstick and corny ending. We expected more from Melissa McCarthy, but Identity Thief just doesn’t deliver the goods.

Along with co-star Jason Bateman (who plays Every Jason Bateman Role Ever, Again), Melissa manages to get a decent tally of belly laughs out of the audience but it’s not enough to save Identity Thief from being just another bog-standard comedy. Diana (McCarthy) is a techno-savvy identity thief, who doesn’t bank on messing with a victim like Sandy (Bateman), who hunts her down in order to get his identity back and cling on the promotion he’d just got when he was wrongly arrested for credit card fraud.

McCarthy and Bateman get a thumbs up for their individual performances but as Magnola Dhargis writes, for New York Times, “it is entirely possible to ignore the worst parts of this movie, to drift along during the lulls, slide over the half-baked jokes and just wait for Ms. McCarthy and Mr. Bateman to do their things.” With a disappointing 23% on the Rotten Tomatoes reviews site, it looks as though director Seth Gordon has failed to make another Horrible Bosses and appears to have gone down the road of his 2008 flop, Four Christmasses. Let’s hope McCarthy’s future movie plans can do a U-turn on the damage done to her reputation, here.

Stay Classy San Diego: Kristen Wiig Confirmed For Anchorman 2 Role

Kristen Wiig Adam McKay Christina Applegate Will Ferrell

We're still waiting on an officially press release at the moment, but it looks as though Kristen Wiig's role in the upcoming Anchorman sequel, Anchorman: The Legend Continues, has been all but confirmed by two people heavily involved in the movie.

Yesterday (Feb 5) director and co-writer of the hugely successful comedy Adam McKay first announced the news via his Twitter, with co-star Christina Applegate (Veronica Corningstone) also confirming the news shortly after, also on Twitter. It is rumored that Wiig will play Brick Tamland's (Steve Carrell) wife in the upcoming sequel.

News updates on the hotly anticipated film have been few and far between, with the first and only trailer for the movie being released way back in May last year. Word on the street is that the film will follow Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) and his loyal news team as they negotiate the harsh seas of change in a vessel called diversity during the turbulent years of the early 1980's. Or something like that anyway, all you need to know is that it will have San Diego's classiest resident starring in it so what more could you want?

Kristen Wiig Joins The Anchorman 2 Cast!

Kristen Wiig Will Ferrell Steve Carell Christina Applegate

The anticipation for Anchorman 2 has just stepped up another notch with the news that Kristen Wiig has joined the Will Ferrell and the rest of the cast as a new co-star.

With the ensemble cast from the hugely successful first Anchorman assembled, Anchorman: The Legend Continues will only fail if it has a bad script surely, and the addition of Bridesmaids star Wiig, reported by CNN, can only be a good thing. Director and co-screenwriter Adam McKay revealed the news of Wiig’s joining on his Facebook page, with Christina Applegate expressing her joy that Wiig was joining on Twitter, writing "So excited Kristen Wiig has joined our cast for anchorman2. Going 2 b best movie ever made. Besides the best movies ever made."

The new Anchorman is scheduled to open on December 20, 2013 and it had to be said that optimism in the camp appears to be high, with many of the cast strongly believing they can equal the heights of the original film back in 2004. "I think it's such a great ensemble piece that I would hope that our roles are the same as they were the first time around," one of the co-stars Steve Carell said to CNN. "The storyline is going to be different, but I hope the people in it are exactly the same."

Tommy Lee Jones Grumpy At Golden Globes

Tommy Lee Jones Will Ferrell Kristen Wiig

Tommy Lee Jones' grumpy face is now there for all to see on the Internet. After decade upon decade in the movie business, we think Tommy Lee Jones deserves the right to be a bad mood every often. He must be shattered.

What got Jones all angry (facially, we can't speak for his brain) was Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig's brand of comedy, as they came out to host the best actress in a drama award. "Merial Streep," says Wiig. "It's Hope Springs and she's that sassy sheriff," said Ferrell. The two put their hands on their hips and shout, "I'm Hope Springs," just as the camera cuts to Jones, who looks furious with their antics, while everyone else is enjoying the bit. To be fair to Jones, and we love to be fair to Jones, it was rather annoying. To be even more fair to Jones, he could just have been concentrating really hard, or thinking about a sad time. Lincoln was nominated for seven awards, including one for Jones' Thaddeus Stevens character. Ferrell and Wiig also poked fun at his other film, Hope Springs, which might have annoyed him, too.

Elsewhere at the awards, Les Miserables picked up three awards, including one for Anne Hathaway. Ben Affleck surprised everyone by picking up best director for his film, Argo

Tommy Lee Jones Grumpy Meme Goes Viral - Paying The Price For That Sense Of Humour Bypass

Tommy Lee Jones Kristen Wiig Will Ferrell

The Tommy Lee Jones grumpy meme has gone viral.

TLJ was caught looking less than pleased when Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell mocked his movie at the Golden Globes. In fact, as the rest of the audience visibly shook with laughter, Tommy stared stony-faced and seriously grumpy-looking at the stage. Will and Kristen's skit was considered to be one of the more amusing pre-award moments. But not for Tommy it seems.

Kristen and Will were reading out the details of the ‘Best Performance By An Actress in a Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical and the pair of comics arrived onstage feigning incredulity at where they found themselves. As they described the movies that they clearly hadn’t watched, they read out Meryl Streep’s name, for Hope Springs, deliberately pronouncing her name wrong and describing the movie as being about a sassy sheriff, named Hope Springs (it’s actually about a married couple (Streep and Tommy Lee Jones) who undergo counselling to work on their ailing, 30 year marriage. Unlike most awards interludes, this one was actually funny.

Emotional 'Coming Out' Speech From Jodie Foster Has Golden Globes Audience In Tears

Jodie Foster Kristen Wiig Anne Hathaway

Many awards were given out at last night’s Golden Globes awards but the real stand-out appearance of the evening was Jodie Foster’s acceptance speech for the Cecil B. DeMille Award.

An award given for a lifetime of achievement in the movie industry, the award was a deserved one for Foster, who began acting as a toddler and at the age of 50, is celebrating 47 years in the industry. Foster’s speech was noted not just for her achievements in the world of film, though. Although Foster’s sexuality has never exactly been a secret, she used last night’s moment in the spotlight not only to publicly acknowledge that she is gay, but also to assert the importance of privacy and to question why it’s so important that everyone in the public eye must turn their private life into public property.

“I already did my coming out about 1,000 years ago,” said Jodie, “back in the Stone Age." She explained that she had never hidden her sexuality, had come out as gay to those that she met and to those that mattered. “If you’d had to fight for a life that felt real and honest, against all odds, maybe then you too would value privacy beyond all other things.” Questioning why all public figures needed to splash the details of their lives over the media (accompanied by reality shows and fragrance ranges), she pointed out “you guys might be surprised but I am not Honey Boo Boo child.”

The Legend Continues: Anchorman 2 To Battle Huge Movies In December 2013

Will Ferrell Paul Rudd Christina Applegate Kristen Wiig

The hugely anticipated sequel Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues will hit theaters on December 20, 2013. Though the Adam McKay-directed movie is still being written, Paramount Pictures clearly have confidence in their product and have pitted it against a selection of huge movies opening on the same weekend.

Ron Burgundy and company will go head-to-head with Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, George Clooney's Monuments Men starring Matt Damon and Daniel Craig, Disney's Saving Mr Banks, the family flick Walking With The Dinosaurs - which is sure to be a Christmas hit - and Jon Turtleltaub's Last Vegas. Though plot details are yet to be revealed, all the man cast-members from the original film, Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, David Koechner and Christina Applegate will be back for the sequel, according to Cinema Blend.

A recent rumor suggested Will Ferrell and McKay are keen to sign up Kristen Wiig to play a love interest of Carell's character Brick Tamland, though this is yet to be confirmed. It's likely that the Bridesmaid actress would find time to shoot the film, though she has numerous roles lined up for 2013, including The Comedian and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

Last night's Saturday Night Live (Dec 15) could have gone very wrong indeed in lieu of recent events in America, but for a nation in mourning the one thing that America needed was a healthy dose of laughter and fortunately SNL brought the perfect amount on what could have been a very difficult night for the show.

With Fox pulling episodes of Family Guy and American Dad from the air in response to the shootings in Connecticut, it was thought that NBC might do the same with some of their more racy shows. However the writers at SNL showed us why they're so revered as they put on a show that was at first moving, before the hilarity began.

Rather than the usual comedic sketch to get things going, the show brought on the New York City Children's Chorus for an angelic rendition of 'Silent Night,' with particular emphasis the touching and poignant refrain, "Sleep in heavenly peace." For a show not regularly known for its delicate handling of sensitive subjects, they could hardly have started things off in a better way. Once the song was over though, the usual cry of "Live from New York, it's 'Saturday Night!'" rang from the children's mouths and the show began, with not a single other mention to the recent tragedy - and rightly so.

Fingers Crossed: Kristen Wiig In The Running For Anchorman 2 Role

Kristen Wiig Steve Carell Adam McKay Judd Apatow Paul Rudd Christina Applegate Guy Pearce

We’re praying this latest rumor from The Wrap has got some substance to it. According to the movie industry insiders, Kristen Wiig is a likely candidate to play the role of Steve Carell’s love interest in the Anchorman sequel, Anchorman: The Legend Continues, for Paramount Pictures. Currently, no cast members have been selected, beyond the core few that we already know and love.

The new Anchorman instalment is being directed by Adam McKay, with Judd Apatow on production duties – under the Apatow Productions banner. We reckon Wiig would make a perfect addition to the Anchorman cast – she’s already proven her comic chops with the hit movie Bridesmaids, and we sense that her deadpan acting style would make for some raucous ROFL moments if she were cast alongside Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Christina Applegate and Steve Carell in the sequel to the 2004 hit. Anchorman fetched around $85 million at the box office and we’d put our money on a sequel being even more successful.

Kristen Wiig is one of the most in-demand actresses in Hollywood right now, thanks to the success of Bridesmaids. She recently starred in Imogene, an indie film that featured at the Toronto International Film Festival. She also been busy filming The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Hateship Friendship, along with Guy Pearce

Friends With Kids Review

Excellent
With a hilariously smart script and a terrific cast, this romantic comedy rises far above the pack, engaging us emotionally and intellectually while offering some telling observations on the state of modern relationships.

Jason (Scott) and his best friend Julie (Westfeldt) are a bit horrified when their coupled pals Leslie and Alex (Rudolph and O'Dowd) and Ben and Missy (Hamm and Wiig) have children. So they decide to have a child without the baggage of a relationship, freeing them to find the right person once they're already single parents. Their baby son is adorable, and raising him brings them closer as friends while allowing them to pursue romances with the hot Mary Jane (Fox) and the sexy Kurt (Burns). But no one else is buying it.

Kristen Wiig, Interview

Interview with Kristen Wiig for Bridesmaids 23 June 2011

Kristen Wiig is one of those comedy actresses you recognise without remembering her name. She's had hilarious roles in a range of films from Knocked Up to Whip It to Date Night, and most recently as Simon Pegg's leading lady in Paul. She originally rose to fame in America after joining the Saturday Night Live television ensemble in 2005. And her obscurity is about to end with her starring role in this summer's break-out hit Bridesmaids, which she also co-wrote and co-produced.
