Considered to be one of the best, if not the best, Disney animated feature film and musical since the era of such greats as The Little Mermaid and The Lion King, 2013’s Frozen stole people’s hearts all around the world. It was a huge success, both commercially and critically, ranking as the highest-grossing animated film of all time and recieved two Academy Awards and a BAFTA.

Disney's Frozen captured hearts everywhere

But after the whirlwind of princesses, ice castles, unlikely heroes and catchy songs - how would millions of children (and adults) worldwide ever find anything that could live up to the high bar Frozen had set?

Well, it seems Disney has heard this question and promptly answered: Frozen Fever, a new short film featuring Elsa, Anna, Olaf and the gang, will burst onto our screens in Spring 2015.

Despite producers dashing dreams across the globe with ‘no plans’ to create a big-screen sequel, Frozen Fever will reunite fans and viewers with their favourite characters, although it’s not known if the stars, Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff or Josh Gad, will reprise their roles.

Olaf the Snowman and Sven the Reindeer were firm favourites

A short synopsis has been released and audiences will watch as Elsa and Kristoff try to give Anna the birthday celebration she deserves. Unfortunately, Elsa’s icy powers could pour cold water on the happy occasion and risk a lot more than just a party.

Frozen Fever will reunite filmmakers Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck with husband and wife team, Oscar-winning composers, Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez who will create a new and original song for the short piece.

Of course, to increasingly irate children (or equally as impatient adults) 2015 is a lifetime away. Fortunately, those Frozen marketing bods have come up with something to whet the appetite with a sing-along Frozen DVD due out in November, just in time for Father Christmas’s visit.
