‘Game of Thrones’ star Kit Harington has stepped in to defend West End theatre-goers, rejecting recent claims made about inconsiderate behaviour from audiences and saying that criticising young audiences could kill theatre.

He had complained that many, predominantly younger, audience members were talking on their phones and eating food noisily throughout the final performance he attended.

Will Kit Harington Star In 'Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare'?

Kit Harington

We've just heard some new information about Kit Harington's beard. Or lack of. Apparently, his recent shave could be to do with making an appearance in the next 'Call Of Duty' game as a video surfaces online of the actor apparently undergoing some sort of animation process.

Kit HaringtonKit Harington could star in 'Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare'

It's still a rumour, but the video footage shows the 'Game Of Thrones' star pulling weird faces as he is being wheeled into some kind of cage bedecked in lighting. Kit Harington Goes Beardless For 'Doctor Faustus' Role

Kit Harington

The world reacts with shock today as Kit Harington reveals his freshly shaven face. Yes, the beard is dead and no-one knows quite what to say about it. Some are loving it, and some are sobbing their hearts out over the missing re-growable face-fur. But at least he's not done a Harry Styles.

Kit HaringtonKit Harington has shaved his beard

Guys, it's not that crazy. The 'Game Of Thrones' heartthrob has shaved his facial hair off before, namely for his 2014 romantic movie 'Testament of Youth', though admittedly we're still used to seeing him with at least a shadow of fuzz. There's just something very anti-Jon Snow about that clean look.

The elder brother of fan favourite Oberyn, who came to a horribly messy end in the last season, Prince Doran is trying his best to keep the peace in Dorne, and stop his people from seeking revenge against the Lannisters. It stands to reason, however, that his death would make give them a great reason to rise up and start a war.

The problem is, that each of those has come to a rather disastrous ending at some point, and the death of Brienne or Podrick seems likely - especially with what they seem to be getting themselves into.

Testament Of Youth Review

Very Good

A classic British memoir gets the full costume drama treatment with this beautifully crafted World War I drama, although it never quite transcends the "beloved book" tone, remaining so worthy that it only rarely springs to life. The acting is sharp, as is the filmmaking, so it's frustrating that there's so little in the film that resonates with present-day audiences. And as the story sinks into a murky gloom, it's difficult for audiences to stay engaged.

Based on Vera Brittain's iconic memoir, the story opens in 1914, as Vera (Alicia Vikander) begs her parents (Emily Watson and Dominic West) to let her sit entrance exams at Oxford, which simply isn't the done thing for a proper young woman. She also has to convince them to let her brother Edward (Taron Egerton) sign up for military service in response to the conflict breaking out in Europe. But Vera is shocked when her sweetheart Roland (Kit Harington) also decides to enlist along with two close friends (Colin Morgan and Jonathan Bailey). Suddenly the war seems far too close to home for her. So she's provoked to leave university and volunteer as a nurse, serving in both England and France while the war rages around her.

The film's opening section contains a beautiful spark of hopefulness as these young people face the possibilities ahead of them, revelling in their education and then deciding to do their duty for their country. The rising-star cast packs the characters with cheeky humour, high energy and, yes, suitably repressed Britishness. But of course the realities of WWI change everything. Vikander handles this mood-swing very nicely, conveying Vera's resilience as she is bombarded with intense emotions. Her chemistry with Harington is strong, packed with passion. And the surrounding cast is terrific, even if most of the roles are relatively slight. The stand-outs are Richardson as a prickly Oxford professor and Atwell as a feisty fellow nurse.

How To Train Your Dragon 2 Review

Essential

Bigger and even richer than the terrific 2010 hit animation, this sequel is also quite possibly the best action-adventure movie of the year. Not only are its big set-pieces thrillingly rendered with first-rate special effects, but the characters are complex and involving. And the script effortlessly combines jagged wit, youthful exuberance, heart-stopping romance and even some rather bleak emotions.

Five years have passed since Hiccup (voiced by Jay Baruchel) discovered his ability to interact with dragons, specifically his inseparable pal Toothless, bringing a new era of dragon-related fun to the small Viking island of Berk. But now his father Stoick (Gerard Butler) is talking about passing on the mantel of chief to Hiccup, and he's not sure he's ready for that. He'd much rather be out zooming over the ocean exploring uncharted lands. Then on one of his trips he encounters a group of dragon hunters led by Eret (Kit Harington), who is helping the notorious villain Drago (Djimon Hounsou) build an army. But this leads Hiccup to an even more startling discovery: his mother Valka (Cate Blanchett) turns out to be alive and running a secret sanctuary for dragons. Can they team up to stop Drago?

It's a rare film that manages to work equally well in the quiet moments as in the massive spectacle, but writer-director Dean DeBlois never wobbles at all. Without ever manipulating the audience, he seamlessly shifts from tear-inducing happiness to soaringly thrilling battle action to agonising emotional pain. The coming-of-age plot may feel familiar, but it's packed with fresh touches, hilarious observations and some surprising twists and turns along the way.

Game Of Thrones Recap: It's Over. Time For A Headcount

Kit Harington Charles Dance Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Lena Headey Maisie Williams Emilia Clarke

Let’s talk about the best Game of Thrones finale in the show’s history. Unless you haven’t seen it yet, in which case be warned – EVERYTHING BELOW THIS IS SPOILERS.

Valar Morghulis and as it turned out, some women. The show’s motto proved true again last night, as the writers broke tradition and actually gave us some crucial plot twists in the season wrapup.

The episode opened with Jon Snow north of the wall and trying to negotiate a truce with Mance Rayder, aka the king of the Free Folk. Save for a few bruises to Jon’s ego, the whole thing seemed to be going pretty well. That is, until Stannis and his sizeable army came in for the most boring invasion ever, in classic Stannis style. The whole truce thing went down the drain, but it’s ok because it turns out that Stannis has no beef with the crows whatsoever. He doesn’t even have any beef with Mance, after Jon vouched for him. Isn’t it great when everyone’s being all honorable?

Charles Dance Lena Headey Maisie Williams Kit Harington Emilia Clarke

With the biggest and best Game of Thrones season finale so far (according to the writers) just a day away, HBO have released a sneak preview of the carnage to come (beware of spoilers for the previous three episodes). And what’s the Reeds’ role in all of this? As Bran’s protectors/guides to the spirit world, they will probably get to shine at the end of this journey.

Watch the preview below.

Meanwhile, in King’s Landing, Cercei appears to be having a very bitter heart-to-heart with The World’s Worst Dad, Tywin Lannister. It looks like he’ll finally have to face the whole incest issue and the fact that his family is generally falling apart.

This week on Game of Thrones, the events that have been brewing all season finally came to a head – just in time too, with next week’s episode being the season finale. As usual, a spoiler warning applies to everything after this sentence.

So the Battle of Castle Black. It’s been coming. We all knew it was coming. And really, after the events of last week, GoT fans should have braced themselves. Even so, it didn’t make the deaths this week any less tragic. Jon Snow survived, but his brothers of the Night’s Watch Grenn and Pyp weren’t so lucky. And then there was Ygritte. Look, when someone does something really likeable on Thrones, it’s usually a sign that they’re about to bite it. We should have seen this coming when she saved Gilly and baby Sam in the last episode.

Like Non-Stop And Cuban Fury, 'Pompeii' Is Pure Guilty Pleasure Cinema

Kit Harington Emily Browning

The release of ancient-Rome disaster epic Pompeii fills an important place in cinema this year: the guilty pleasure. What would moviegoing be like without those films that no one wants to admit that they enjoyed just a little too much?

PompeiiPompeii Is Pure Guilty Pleasure Cinema

In order to qualify, a movie needs to work on a level beyond what it intended: Pompeii generates plenty of laughter along with the thrilling destruction and emotional melodrama. In this sense, it's almost like a companion piece to Roland Emmerich's 2012. Last year, Emmerich also turned his action thriller White House Down into a guilty pleasure thanks to some deliberately over-the-top mayhem (by contrast, Olympus Has Fallen played everything dead straight, thrilling some viewers but annoying everyone else).

Pompeii Review

Good

Like an ancient Roman version of 2012, this disaster epic is a pure guilty pleasure, sparking plenty of laughter along with the massive effects-based carnage. It also helps that the screen is packed with muscle men in skimpy skirts. The actors dive in with gusto, adding plenty of personality to the ridiculous dialogue, while director Paul W.S. Anderson shamelessly ramps up the action mayhem.

It begins in AD 79 Britain, where Roman Senator Corvus (Kiefer Sutherland) is on the rampage, slaughtering the entire Celtic community of young Milo (Kit Harington), who is taken to Londinium to become a gladiator. When he rises to fame, he's transferred to Pompeii, where he immediately catches the eye of young noblewoman Cassia (Emily Browning), much to the scowly disapproval of her politically active parents (Carrie-Anne Moss and Jared Harris). An outsider among the local slaves, Milo is befriended by tough guy fellow gladiator Atticus (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje). And when Corvus comes to town to claim Cassia as his bride, Milo decides to take a dangerous stand for both revenge and the girl. Meanwhile, Mount Vesuvius is rumbling, getting ready to unleash plenty of movie-style havoc.

It's impossible to watch this without thinking of the cheesy, similarly styled TV series Rome or Spartacus, with their corny melodramas, excessive violence and bare flesh. Even though this is on a much bigger scale with seriously enormous 3D special effects, it's just as cheesy. And equally entertaining as well. Harington is terrific as the hunky hero, building much stronger chemistry with the honourable Akinnuoye-Agbaje than the distressed Browning. And seasoned veterans like Harris, Moss and Sutherland clearly have a great time chomping madly on the scenery as Pompeii burns.

Last night’s premiere of Game of Thrones might not count as a perfect success for HBO, but it definitely says something about a show, when the demand is so heavy that it crashes HBO Go’s servers. Heads up, for any Thrones fans, who are still behind on the premiere, don’t worry: you won’t find any spoilers ahead. According to TIME magazine, plenty of fans, stealing their parents’ HBO Go passwords, are yet to catch up after being left hanging by the dreaded Fatal Error message that Go presented on Sunday night in lieu of a Thrones episode. This is a repeat of the situation from a month ago, when Go crashed during the True Detective season finale. At least the person manning the HBO twitter was having fun with the whole debacle.

The poor people of Pompeii were once blissfully unaware that a mighty volcano was about to erupt, crushing and burning everything in its wake. With this in mind, how worried should The Lego Movie be that new historical disaster movie Pompeii is opening in the US today?

As for the small matter of the actual awards, Pharrell Williams, Daft Punk and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis were the evening's big winners whilst newcomer Lorde picked up two gongs and Jay Z and Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, Kacey Musgraves and Black Sabbath were also prominent victors. This, year, perfect pop princess Taylor Swift went home empty-handed, which made for some pretty funny videos.

'Game Of Thrones' Crowned Most Torrented Show Of 2013

Kit Harington Sean Bean Emilia Clarke Bryan Cranston Vince Gilligan Andrew Lincoln

Game of Thrones is officially the most illegally downloaded series once again, as the hit HBO drama was named the most pirated television series of 2013 by piracy site TorrentFreak. Taking into account the amount of downloads amassed through BitTorrent over the past twelve months, the television adaption of George RR. Martin's stories has taken home the crown of 'Most Torrented Show' for the second year running.

You know nothing about the illegal distribution of TV programmes, Jon Snow

With 5.9 million downloads via BitTorrent alone, that means that season three of the hit series was watched illegally more times than it was through legal means. The season garnered an average of 5.5 million viewers in the US legally, with most illegal downloads coming in the first week after the show initially aired on HBO, taking the overall tally of the show's illegal viewers past the legal tally. The poll does not take into account downloads from other torrent sites, such as The Pirate Bay or Kickass Torrents, which probably means that the overall figure for illegally downloaded episode is even higher than the report states.

And Breathe: Audience Catches A Break With Game Of Thrones Finale [Recap]

Peter Dinklage Lena Headey Maisie Williams Emilia Clarke Kit Harington

This week on Game of Thrones, viewers were let off easy for the finale – the producers probably realised that we are all still recovering from last week’s episode and the Red Wedding. But there were still a number of plot twists (beware of spoilers ahead.) After witnessing the brutal murders of some of her last remaining family members, Arya Stark got some measure of revenge by stabbing one of Walder Fray’s soldiers, as her captor-turned-companion Sandor "The Hound" Clegane took care of the soldier’s comrades. Obviously, the violence will keep getting worse from here on, but after last week’s episode, Thrones fans seem to be able to stomach anything.

Then we had Jaime Lannister, finally back at King’s Landing and reunited with his twin sister Cersei, while Jon Snow had a reunion of another kind, returning to the night’s watch, after escaping the wrath of his scorned lover, wildling Ygritte. On two opposite sides of the GoT universe, two very different characters continued their journeys. While Bran walked on towards his destination north of the wall – a journey, which still seems rather inexplicable, Daenerys Targeryen continued to build her power through the love of her people and finally freed the slaves of Yunkai. While some rise and others fall, as usual in the game of thrones (which you win or you die, as Robb Stark and co. reminded us last week) something altogether darker and more sinister is brewing north of the wall – the White Walkers and their army of undead.

Of course, we got the occasional quip from Tyrion Lannister (the ever entertaining Peter Dinklage) to lighten the mood, but after recent events, let’s just say that there’s a whole lot of lightening to do.
