Kim Wilde has split from and divorced her husband Hal Fowler after 25 years of marriage.

The 62-year-old star shocked fans by releasing a statement revealing that the former couple had "amicably separated by agreement" last year.

The joint statement, which Kim shared on her Twitter account, read: "Kim Wilde and Hal Fowler wish to announce that they amicably separated by agreement last year and have divorced."

Kim and Hal - who have kids, Harry, 24, and Rose, 22, together - insisted there was "no third party" involved in their decision to go their separate ways in 2021, and they are still "on good terms".

They added: "No third party is involved. They remain on good terms and wish only the best for each other in the next phases of their lives. No further comment or statements will be made."

Kim and Hal married in September 1996, less than six months after meeting when they both appeared in rock opera 'Tommy'.

Less than 18 months after their marriage, she gave birth to son Harry in January 1998, and Rose arrived two years later in January 2000.

Kim shot to fame when her 1981 debut single 'Kids in America' peaked at number two in the UK singles chart, and in 1983 she received the Best British Female solo artist accolade at the BRIT Awards.

In June, the 80s icon revealed she had a crush on pop star Harry Styles, 28, admitting she would "blush" if the singer - who is dating filmmaker Olivia Wilde, 38 - happened to walk into her house.

Asked who her celebrity crush is, she said: "Don't laugh ... Harry Styles!

"If he walked into my house, I think I would blush."

Kim also recalled falling "passionately in love" with the late David Bowie when she supported him.

She said: "I fell passionately in love with Bowie - but he was in love with his wife-to-be at the time, Iman - I didn't get a look in.

"I loved him from afar. As soon as I saw him, I thought, 'My God, you are the most incredible person.'

"How could you not love David Bowie?!"
