Emily Eavis: Glastonbury Acts Like Ed Sheeran Help Raise '£2million Every Year' For Charity

Kiefer Sutherland Busted Sophie Ellis-Bextor Birdy Scouting For Girls

Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis has praised Ed Sheeran, Foo Fighters and Radiohead for donating their feed to a £2million charity pot.

Headliners of the iconic music festival miss out on huge performance fees in favour of allowing Emily and her dad, Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis, to make a whopping donation to good causes every year and she says it is the ''absolute, most paramount'' aspect of the music extravaganza.

Speaking to BBC Radio 6 music, she said: ''The charity thing is the absolute, most paramount thing of the biggest importance, really. The most important part of the festival is the fact that we can give that money to charity. It makes it all totally worthwhile. We try to give £2million per year, and on a wet year it's harder because it costs more, but we give as close to £2million as we can.''

Louis Lombardi, Kiefer Sutherland's '24' Co-star, Slams Freddie Prinze Jr.'s Ruthless Diss

Kiefer Sutherland

The recent feud Freddie Prinze Jr., started with Kiefer Sutherland has started to spread, and another star of the Fox hit show '24,' Louis Lombardi, couldn't help but join the affray, but it is very clear whose back he has got.

Louis Lombardi
Lombardi weighed in on the Freddie/Kiefer feud

Freddie garnered a lot of attention when attending this past weekend's Comic-Con in San Diego for publically slamming Sutherland's work ethic when they acted together on series 8 of '24' in 2010, after explaining why he hasn't been seen in the public eye for quite some time.

Freddie Prinze Jr. Almost Quit The Business After Working With "24" Co-Star Kiefer Sutheland

Freddie Prinze Jr Kiefer Sutherland

Kiefer Sutherland recently received the worst kind of negative review – one from a fellow actor. Freddie Prinze Jr., who co-starred with Sutherland on the recently revived 24, recalls that his unpleasant on-set relationship with Sutherland almost caused the younger actor to leave the business for good.

 Freddie Prinze Jr.
FPJ has since found his footing, but he had a few rough years after 24.

"I did '24,' it was terrible," the 38-year-old actor told ABC News about his experience on the hit Fox series in 2010. "I hated every moment of it."

"24: Live Another Day" Recap: It's 3:00 PM And You Can Finally Catch Your Breath

Kiefer Sutherland

It’s Hour 5 on 24 and this week, there was a lot less Jack Bauer to be seen for most of the episode. While it’s clear that Kiefer Sutherland is the show, episodes like this offer a nice glimpse of the ensemble cast, which has been consistently strong since the revival.

Could the series continue without Kiefer Sutherland? It seems unlikely at this point.

Jack Is Back! But Could ’24’ Keep On Living After ‘Live Another Day’?

Kiefer Sutherland

Jack Bauer came bounding back to our screens last night in ’24:Live Another Day’, but is the limited event series a final farewell to our hero? Maybe not, as co-creator Robert Cochran has been telling E! news that this might not be the end of Jack Bauer.

Kiefer SutherlandJack is back everyone!

Speaking at the show’s premiere, Cochran said that if ‘Live Another Day’ is successful we could expect to see more Bauer on our screens in the future.  "I think if this does well, I can't see any reason not to do another 12,” he told the news channel.

Out This Weekend: 'Pompeii' Divides The Critics

Kit Harington Emily Browning Kiefer Sutherland

As you can probably tell by the title, Pompeii is set in the Roman city of Pompeii in the year AD 79. It tells the story of Milo, played by Kit Harington of Game of Thrones fame. Milo is slave turned invincible gladiator who is forced into action to save the one he loves while the ancient city burns around him.

Pompeii Kit Harington at Milo in Pompeii

The fact that he’s invincible already raises question marks surrounding the plot’s plausibility. Of course, a film set in Pompeii will always have a certain amount of creative licence, but the audience still need to be able to put things together… The critics were equally unsure of Pompeii’s appeal, culminating in a measly 40% on Rotten Tomatoes. There are more reviews to come, but one gets the impression that score won’t be beaten.

Metal Gear Solid V – Snake Voice Actor Will Be 24 Star Kiefer Sutherland

Kiefer Sutherland

Kiefer Sutherland is known for his role as Jack Bauer in the high-octane thrill-ride that was 24, endearing himself to TV-buffs across the land, but he’ll be popular with gaming nerds now, too, as he’s to voice the hugely popular video game character, Solid Snake in the upcoming game, Metal Gear Solid V.

Konami, the company responsible Metal gear, revealed the news today in a pre-recorded video presentation prior to the E3 Expo – the biggest date in the calendar for gamers. “This time, with Metal Gear Solid V, the themes are a little different from previous games in the series,” said series creator Hideo Kojima in the video. “We’re taking on some very heavy subjects such as race and revenge. I wanted Snake to have a more subdued performance, expressed through subtle facial movements and tone of voice rather than words.” For the Kojima, the legendary games producer, Sutherland was perfect for the role. “Furthermore,” Kojima said, “the game takes place in 1984, when Snake is 49 years old. Therefore, we needed someone who could genuinely convey the facial and vocal qualities of a man in his late 40′s."

Kiefer Sutherland To Return As Jack Bauer – Slimline Version Of '24' Announced

Kiefer Sutherland

A stripped down, thrill-enhanced (if that’s possible) version of 24 has been announced for next year. That’s right, Jack Bauer is going to be back battling terrorism in a remarkably small amount of time.

In its pomp, 24 was one of the most-watched TV shows around, regularly attracting up to 15 million as Bauer saved the nation from exterior threats. Fox Entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly said 24 showrunner Howard Gordon, said he was "really energised" by the idea. "They always had this idea of someday doing a feature film. I think they all agreed that '24' compressed into two hours is not 24," said Reilly. "What they'll be able to do is go in chronological order of the day, but skip hours … Now we'll get the best part." Sutherland, the show’s star, said: "The response to 24 is unlike anything I have ever experienced as an actor before. To have the chance to reunite with the character, Jack Bauer, is like finding a lost friend. The story ideas from Howard Gordon are exciting and fresh, and will not disappoint." Although 24 started as a BBC show, BSKYB soon bought the rights when they saw its potential. The new 12-hour-format will air next year (possible May) on Fox.

Jack Is Back! 24 Set To Return For One Off Series

Kiefer Sutherland

Fox have announced that they are planning on bringing back the hugely successful series 24 for a one-off series, with many of the original cast and crew returning for the new series. Kiefer Sutherland, who has just had his current series Touch axed by Fox, will of course be returning as anti-terrorist agent Jack Bauer, with original show producer Howard Gordon also coming back.

The series will not be following the orignal format however, because rather than feature 24 episodes per season, to signify each hour of the day, this season will only feature 12 episode. The new show run, officially titled 24: Live Another Day, will jump certain hours, but will still cover a 24 hour time period.

24 Is Back! But Is It Now 12? Who Cares – Jack Bauer Returns!

Kiefer Sutherland

Everyone’s favourite terrorism drama 24 is making a return to television next year in a special 12-hour event, Fox announced today (Monday 13th May). Kiefer Sutherland makes his much-anticipated return as the unrelenting Jack Bauer – a man who will stop at nothing to spot terrorism.

“The response to ‘24’ is unlike anything I have ever experienced as an actor before,” Mr. Sutherland said in a statement. “To have the chance to reunite with the character, Jack Bauer, is like finding a lost friend.” He thanked the producers and Fox for the opportunity and added, “Make no mistake, my goal is to knock your socks off. See you soon.” Instead of every episode representing an hour, in a series of 24, though, this season will only comprise of 12 episodes for a 12-week run. Howard Gordon, an executive producer of the series, said in a statement on Monday that the Bauer character “has evolved through the years, and this new and exciting event series format is perfect to tell the next chapter of his story and continue to reflect how the world is changing.”

In its day, 24 would regularly attract 10-15 million viewers and one of the most popular television shows of all time. It became particularly popular on DVD due to the ‘24’ format, meaning it was ripe for ‘binge viewing’, recently made popular by streaming services such as Netflix.

Jack's Back! America's Favorite Show '24' Confirmed For New Series

Kiefer Sutherland Fox

As expected, Fox Broadcasting Company has announced the return of Jack Bauer and 24 for a brand new series. The high-octane saga starring Kieifer Sutherland as a heroic agent will once again follow the pulse-pounding fast-paced format with split screens and storylines representing one hour of real-life time. The new series is titled '24: Live Another Day'.

"It's great to have Jack back. '24' redefined the drama genre, and as we reimagine the television miniseries, this iconic show will again break new ground for the network," said Fox chairman Kevin Reilly. "The series remains a global sensation, and everyone at Fox is thrilled to be back at work with Kiefer, Howard and the incredibly creative '24' team." The news series once again sees Sutherland team with show-runner Howard Gordon, who Fox say pitched the idea of a new series. "When Howard came to us saying he had an idea for a new chapter of '24,' he quite simply had us at 'hello,'" said 20th Century Fox Television Chairmen Gary Newman and Dana Walden. "'24' is a signature series for this studio, beloved by critics and audiences worldwide. Howard's idea to revive the franchise as an event series couldn't be timelier, and with the brilliant Kiefer Sutherland on board to reprise his iconic role, we can't wait to get started." It does make you wonder whether Fox's cancellation of Sutherland's 'Touch' had anything to do with the decision? "Ok Keifer, we're getting rid of Touch.but we've got something else."

Nevertheless, the television big-wigs have certainly been rolled out for this announcement. Imagine Television Chairman Brian Graze said, "I'm both excited and proud that Howard, Kiefer, and I, along with ours partners at 20th and Fox, have this new opportunity to give '24' fans what they've been asking for - more Jack Bauer. It's been my experience that people love Jack Bauer because he's a guy who cuts through the red tape and gets the hardest things done. I am certain '24: Live Another Day' will again have a huge impact on our culture."

Hurrah! Fox Is "In Talks" With Kiefer Sutherland To Bring Back 24

Kiefer Sutherland

After the cancellation of Keifer Sutherland’s supernatural/police procedural crossover Touch, the actor is now free to take on new projects – or old ones as it seems a revival of 24 is on the horizon. Touch, a series about a police detective, who discovers that his son has supernatural powers, never really took off, beyond being a Sutherland vehicle. After Fox moved it to a low-viewership Friday slot for its miraculously renewed second season, but as expected, the cancellation was announced during this Monday’s Upfront presentation.

But as one door closed, another opens, as the network is reportedly in talks with Sutherland to bring back the show for a limited run. The series finally left the story open-ended, with Sutherland’s character, Jack Bauer, escaping and since then, people have been speculating about a potential movie. When the movie plans were scrapped last year, Sutherland was reportedly “furious” with the decision and that is why he took up the opportunity for a more relaxed show with Touch. He commented last year that one of the reasons for taking Touch was that the character was a complete change of pace from the intense Jack Bauer. Even so, after taking a break from 24, Sutherland has had nothing but good things to say about the process of working on the show and has indicated that he would be more than happy to reprise the role, which put him on the map.

At 46, Sutherland reckons he can still take on the antics of Bauer with ease.

The Reluctant Fundamentalist Review

Good

A terrific story is compromised by the demands of commercial filmmaking, adding action-thriller scenes to what should be an introspective drama while distractingly beefing up side-roles for American stars. But at the centre is another superb performance from Riz Ahmed (Four Lions), who again takes a complex, challenging approach to the subject of terrorism.

The narrative is fragmented into flashbacks as Changez (Ahmed) tells his story to an American journalist (Schreiber) in Pakistan while a tense hostage situation swirls all around them. Years earlier, Changez was a high-flying Pakistani student, graduating from Princeton and landing a prestigious job on Wall Street when an executive (Sutherland) recognises his talent. He also has a sexy artist girlfriend (Hudson). But all of this is shaken after the 9/11 attacks, when he is harassed by police and immigration officials. Fundamentally changed, he returns to Lahore to become a lecturer in violent uprisings. But this makes the CIA think that he's become a terrorist himself. Perhaps he has.

The various strands of the story are intriguing, and the actors are all watchable as they add layers to Changez's overall story. But the jumbled structure of the film reduces the narrative to a series of seemingly unrelated scenes. Hudson and Sutherland are solid but add little beyond their characters' stereotypical American reactions to Changez's decisions. The always superb Schreiber is better used as a more shady figure. But other characters vanish just when they get interesting, such as Changez's parents, played by acting legends Puri and Azmi.

Kiefer Sutherland Will Be Back As Jack Bauer In New 24 Series

Kiefer Sutherland

Deadline reported last night (May 9) that Jack Bauer isn't quite finished kicking ass and taking names, as FOX are apparently in the process of bringing back the 'real-time' action series 24  as a "limited series." Of course 24 would be nothing without it's lead man, and it looks as though Kiefer Sutherland has agreed to bring Bauer back to the small screen.

Following Deadline's report, 24 executive producer David Fury confirmed that the series has indeed been given the go ahead, sharing the news via his Twitter feed. Retweeting the original story from Deadline, he added: "Yep, I'm pulling double duty w/TYRANT. Whoo & Hoo!" Before adding, in reply to a question from a fan, that the reboot would be a "limited series" with 12 episodes altogether.

Networks To Announce Fall Line-Ups, Will 'CSI:NY,' 'Touch' And 'Go On' Survive?

Kiefer Sutherland Matthew Perry CBS NBC ABC Fox

Crime drama CSI NY, Matthew Perry's 'Go On' and Fox's 'Touch,' starring Kiefer Sutherland are amongst the television shows in danger of being cancelled when the networks announce their fall line-ups in the coming weeks. The clock is very much ticking, and it's getting louder with every passing second.

It's a familiar Hollywood plot, with actors, producers, writers and directors waiting nervously to hear whether their shows have made it onto the fall line-ups. If the ratings are not there, the show disappears. Simple. NBC unveils its plans on Sunday May 12, while Fox announce on Monday, ABC Tuesday and CBS on Wednesday. CW fans have to wait until Thursday for that announcement.

As reported by the Plain Dealer, we already know that Animal Practice, Made in Jersey, Last Resort and The Mob Doctor are getting in, though there are several more high profile shows that are in danger of being handed a pink slip. They include the CBS crime dramas CSI:NY and Criminal Minds. Ratings suggest the latter might survive, but CSI looks to be a goner. A year ago, it was suggested that NY might get cancelled and CSI: Miami could survive though the reverse happened.

Australian actress Emily Browning is set to take the lead role in SUCKER PUNCH, it has been revealed.

The part was set to be filled by MAMMA MIA! star Amanda Seyfried, but it seems she has now dropped out of the role.

Zack also co-wrote the script with Steve Shibuya and work on the production is set to start in September of this year.

Meanwhile, Watchmen has been replaced by the new Dreamworks animation MONSTERS VS ALIENS as the film with the highest grossing weekend in the US this year.

The superhero flick clocked up $55.2 million (£39 million), compared to the $58.2 million made by the Kiefer Sutherland voiced hit.

The Right Temptation Review

Weak
Wow, when did Rebecca De Mornay get old? The Right Temptation is hardly a fitting title for so untempting a movie, a ridiculously unbelievable thriller that puts De Mornay in the middle of a scam dreamed up by Dana Delany's troublesome wife to Kiefer Sutherland. From the moment requests "a woman" be put on her P.I. case, you know something's fishy.... The trouble is, the fish is rotten. Kudos to De Mornay's pet pig, though.

The Break Up (1998) Review

Terrible
Pedestrian thriller. Nonsensical and obvious why it went straight to cable, despite a decent cast of stars. What's with Weber's big moustache, anyway?

Desert Saints Review

Good
Passable little flick has Sutherland as La Femme Kiefer, a mysterious hitman who picks up a drifter girl (Melora Walters), a pathetic loser who turns out to be anything but. Against any semblance of good judgment, he takes her on as a partner... only to have her turn out to be an FBI agent on his case. Or is she??? It's a capable thriller but hardly a standout -- there's basically only one more plot twist and it's not all that unexpected. Walters is getting too old to play the hottie vixen... and come to think of it, so is Sutherland.

Beat Review

Good
Judy Davis might have commanded the definitive Joan Vollmer role in Naked Lunch, but in Beat, Courtney Love makes a not-half-bad at reinterpreting the last weeks of her life before being accidentally(?) shot in the head during a William Tell parlor trick by her famed writer husband William S. Burroughs.

Set in broken down Mexico City, the film finds Vollmer receiving a visit from beat-heads Allen Ginsburg (Ron Livingston) and Lucien Carr (Norman Reedus). (Carr, a minor figure in beat history, was a UPI reporter responsible for introducing many of the beats to one another as well as inspiring Jack Kerouac to type On the Road on a roll of teletype paper.) Burroughs (Kiefer Sutherland) is off on one of his bisexual booty calls, leaving his wife to ponder whether she should stay with her philandering husband (being no faithful lap dog herself) or skip town and return with her two kids to New York with Lucien and Allen. (Her very short history should tell you which route she actually chose.)
