Beset by accusations of sexual misconduct, actor Kevin Spacey has now been accused of sexually assaulting a male former employee on the set of his hit Netflix series ‘House of Cards’, it was reported yesterday evening.

In addition, eight former or current ‘House of Cards’ employees claimed that the 58 year old actor made the set of the series “a toxic workplace”, according to a CNN report on Thursday evening (November 2nd).

Their identities were withheld at their request, as they feared professional retribution, but all of them outlined Spacey’s behaviour as intimidating, with the actor allegedly targeting employees who were young and male, advancing on them with non-consensual touching and inappropriate comments.

Most seriously, a former production assistant who worked on ‘House of Cards’ in its initial seasons alleged that Spacey sexually assaulted him.

At the time of writing, there was no response from either Netflix or Spacey to the fresh allegations, but the streaming service has suspended filming of ‘House of Cards’ sixth season, having said that there will be no further seasons after that.

As of Thursday evening, the talent agency CAA stopped representing Spacey, according to a different report by the Associated Press.

An insider with knowledge of the situation, but who was not authorised to speak publicly, confirmed that both CAA and publicist Staci Wolfe had ended associations with Spacey amid the growing claims of sexual harassment made against him in the last week.

After actor Anthony Rapp alleged earlier this week that two-time Oscar winner Spacey had attempted to “seduce” him when he was 14 years old, a number of other people have come forward with similar stories of sexual misconduct, including people who worked with Spacey at London’s Old Vic theatre between 2004 and 2015 when he was artistic director.

The most recent statement from the actor, made on Wednesday (November 1st), read: “Kevin Spacey is taking the time necessary to seek evaluation and treatment.”
