Netflix used last night’s Republican debate to announce the return of their own political monster, President Frank Underwood. As the Republican candidates took a break, President Underwood addressed the nation, announcing the return of ‘House of Cards’ for a fourth season.

Mocking the often cheesy political campaign videos, the advert began with a voiceover proclaiming: ’It’s a new day in America,' as images of a tractor in a corn field, electricity pylons against the sunrise and sun reflecting off city skyscrapers played.

A soldier was then shown being welcomed home by his family, while the voiceover continued: ’Today, more people will go to work, return home to their families and sleep more soundly than ever before.’

Three children then appeared running across grass while waving American flags, before the camera then showed an exterior shot of the White House as the voice said: ‘All because one man refuses to settle... putting people before politics....and that is Frank Underwood.’

The video then showed Kevin Spacey as President Underwood sitting at his Oval Office desk writing, before he looked up and said, 'America. I'm only getting started.’ The fourth series of the political drama will premiere on the streaming service on March 4th.

Netflix has also set up a mock campaign website to promote the series at After the ad premiered Spacey shared a promo link on twitter writing: “If you don't like how the table is set, turn it over. Welcome to my campaign. FU.”
