Lady Gaga And Katy Perry Pulled Into Kesha's Legal Battle Against Dr. Luke

Kesha Lady GaGa Katy Perry

Lady GaGa and Katy Perry have seemingly been dragged into the ongoing legal battle between pop star Kesha and producer Dr. Luke stemming from her accusations of sexual assault against him.

A text message dated from April 2016 that Kesha sent to Lady Gaga was added to evidence in a court hearing late last year regarding the status of the ongoing case. A judge gave permission for Dr. Luke to share this message with both Lady Gaga and Katy Perry – although the actual contents of the message have been sealed.

E! News reports that it was presented in a hearing on December 26th in New York City when both parties were working out a process of discovery – meaning the records and documents they will agree to exchange with each other.

Kesha's Mother Pebe Sebert Drops Dr. Luke Counterclaims

Kesha

The complicated and seemingly endless dispute between Kesha and her erstwhile producer Lukas Gottwald (aka. Dr. Luke), but one aspect of it appears to have been ended after Kesha’s mother dropped her counterclaims against him this week.

This particular part of the case started in Tennessee, where Dr. Luke originally sued the pop star’s mother, Pebe Sebert, for defamation and tortious interference. According to him, she had “smeared” him by circulating rumours that he raped Kesha to bloggers and the press after an alleged extortion attempt, which he says Kesha and her mother concocted together, over a contractual disagreement failed.

In turn, Pebe Sebert countersued on the basis of intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress, and it is this countersuit that she withdrew on Tuesday (April 26th), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Kesha's "Slavery" Appeal Against Sony Contract Thrown Out Of Court

Kesha

A New York judge has dismissed Kesha’s motion to terminate her contract with Sony in the wake of the pop star’s allegations of sexual abuse against her former producer Dr. Luke.

Judge Shirley Kornreich refused to overrule an earlier verdict in February this year, after Kesha’s lawyers had argued that to keep her contract with Sony in place was tantamount to “slavery”. The judge also held that Sony’s offer for Kesha to continue to record with them – but without any involvement from Dr. Luke or the companies he effectively controls within the Sony structure.

The Best Musical Performances, On The Subway

Lion King Michael Buble Joshua Bell Avril Lavigne Rick Springfield Kesha

Anyone who has ever travelled on the London Underground or the New York subway system knows that the experience is usually a dull and laborious affair. The carriages are sweltering and filled with people trudging to and from work, trying to avoid eye contact with everyone else despite the intense proximity of fellow passengers. All of these facets render the latest internet viral sensation as a harm-warming act to enliven the dreary public transport experience.

Earlier this summer, members of the cast from the Broadway hit Lion King broke into spontaneous song on the New York A-train. The resulting video is currently doing the rounds on social media. The A Cappella version of ‘The Circle Of Life’ leaves many passengers enthralled, clearly delighted to have their journey brightened by the performers impressive talents sing and clap along to the spectacle. Others, however, react with a passive indifference with a few even keeping their headphones in through the song’s entirety. But the Lion King cast’s impromptu performance is far from the first to take place on a subway system. We take a look at some other examples.

Jay Z Illuminati Links: Are They True?

Jay Z Kesha Russell Simmons

Are Jay Z’s Illuminati links true? Life is pretty sweet for the multi-million selling rapper, successful entrepreneur and husband of one of pop’s most successful woman, Beyonce. Jay Z’s net worth is getting up towards $500 million, the positivity of his press is at an all-time high, this is a man who's getting richer and more popular as life goes on. Things seem sweet, alright – but are they too sweet? When the rapper turned up to the Grammys wearing a great big diamond ring that, according to the site Media Take Out, bore all the hallmarks of designs worn by those in the Illuminati, alarm bells started ringing – or at least they did for the tin hat wearers and conspiracy nuts.

Just in case you weren’t aware of what the Illuminati was for some reason, it’s generally regarded as a secret society that for a long time has called the shots of what goes on in the world – no matter what appears to be going on on the surface. Jay Z is far from the only celebrity to have been linked with the supposedly ancient organization, in fact it seems that many are viewed as making their way to the top with a helping hand along the way. Just last year Ke$ha’s Die Young video was purported to have contained Illuminati imagery, with the star dancing around it. Russell Simmons is another character who last year was challenged on whether he was in the secret society. His reply to TMZ - "Are you kidding me? I'm a grown f*cking man!" – should have shut the doubters up. Except no one who was actually in The Illuminati would admit they were in it of course! You can see how the cycle goes, and how people are aligned to it by others whether it’s real or not.

Ke$ha Bragged About Penning Die Young Lyrics Before Newtown Shooting

Kesha

Ok, so people should probably go easy on Ke$ha. We can think of a thousand songs that would be deemed slightly inappropriate to play in the wake of the Newtown school massacre, though it seems the Tik-Tok star hasn't been telling the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

In case you haven't heard, Ke$ha claimed to have been forced into singing the lyrics for her track 'Die Young',  after several radio stations around the country stopped playing it. She told Twitter followers, "I did NOT want to sing those lyrics and I was FORCED TO." The track - a Billboard hit - featured the lyrics, "Let's make the most of the night like we're gonna die young.  We're gonna die young.  We're gonna die young." The problem is, Ke$ha is credited as a co-writer of the track and during an appearance on 95.5 WPLJ in New York back in November she told the host, "I definitely make sure that every word rings true to me because I would never want to misrepresent myself to millions of people around the world ... I wrote and rewrote and rewrote that song ten times." You can't have it both ways, Ke$ha.

On December 18, the singer seemingly apologised for the whole furore, saying, "I'm so so so sorry for anyone who has been effected by this tragedy.and I understand why my song is now inappropriate. words cannot express."

Kesha Claims She Was Forced To Sing 'Die Young' Lyrics As Stations Pull Track

Kesha Foster The People

Several radio stations have pulled Ke$ha's popular tune 'Die Young' following the tragic school shooting in Connecticut last Friday. The song concerns making the most of a night out "like we're gonna die young," which some program directors deemed inappropriate under the circumstances, reports Billboard.

A morning host of Connecticut's WDAQ station said that although the song may be about "seizing the moment, unfortunately, "all people are going to hear right now is those two words in the title." As a result, the station will not be playing the song, as well as Foster The People's Pumped Up Kicks. Ke$ha's song currently sits at No.3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, though it seems the singer herself isn't too keen on the track. She tweeted that she stands behind the decision to pull the song, saying that she herself questioned the song's lyrics from the beginning, "[I] understand. I had my very own issue with 'die young' for this reason. I did NOT want to sing those lyrics and I was FORCED TO," later adding, "I'm so so so sorry for anyone who has been effected by this tragedy.and I understand why my song is now inappropriate. words cannot express."

Ke$ha has sold 3 million albums and 30 million singles worldwide.

"I Was Forced To Sing 'Die Young': Ke$ha Apologizes For Offence After Newtown

Kesha

Ke$ha has apologized publicly for any offence caused by her song ‘Die Young,’ in the wake of the recent Newtown school massacre. She also claimed that she was forced to sing the lyrics and claims that she was never comfortable with singing them, for the very reason that something like this tragedy may happen.

On her Twitter page, according to The Herald Sun Kesha wrote “I had my very own issues with ‘die young’ for this reason. I did NOT want to sing those lyrics and I was FORCED TO.” That tweet has now been deleted – perhaps she was forced to do that, too. She replaced it with a new message – a simple apology this time, saying “I'm so so so sorry for anyone who has been effected by this tragedy.and I understand why my song is now inappropriate. words cannot express.”

In the aftermath of the Newtown tragedy, in which 26 people were killed by a gunman who entered an elementary school and opened fire, Ke$ha’s hit single was pulled from radio stations, to avoid causing offence to the public and to those affected by the events in the Connecticut school. The offending lyrics were “Looking for some trouble tonight /Take my hand, I'll show you the wild, side / Like it's the last night of our lives / We'll keep dancing till we die / Let's make the most of the night like we're gonna die young / We're gonna die young.”

Mick Jagger Breaks Silence On Maroon 5's 'Moves Like Jagger'

Mick Jagger Rolling Stones David Letterman Maroon 5 Christina Aguilera Adam Levine Kesha Cher Lloyd

Mick Jagger has finally broken his silence on the subject of Maroon 5's number one hit 'Moves Like Jagger' and revealed that he didn't get paid anything for his reference in the song.

The Rolling Stones lead vocalist appeared for an interview on 'The Late Show with David Letterman' and, to the viewers' amusement, produced a list entitled: 'Top Ten Things I, Mick Jagger, Have Learned After 50 Years In Rock 'n' Roll'. On the list was a light-hearted dig at Maroon 5's song 'Moves Like Jagger' featuring Christina Aguilera, the video of which begins with footage of Jagger in his younger years and later shows singer Adam Levine trying out some of the famous dance moves. Jagger had written on his list that he had learned that "You don't earn a cent when someone does a song about having moves like Jagger." The music legend also drew laughs from his other advice which included, "Be considerate of other hotel guests - trash your room by 10 pm" and, "Before shouting 'Hi Seattle!' make sure you're in Seattle."

'Moves Like Jagger' is not the first number one hit that has referenced the star; he has also been mentioned in Ke$ha's 'TiK ToK' ('We kick em to the curb unless they look like Mick Jagger') and Cher Lloyd's 'Swagger Jagger'.

Kesha - Warrior Album Review

As with most things Ke$ha does, Warrior is a statement of intent. And that intent seems to be the intent to party. And maybe to playfight a little. And then to continue partying, until night turns into day and back again. She nails her colours firmly to the mast in 'C'Mon,' where she states, quite clearly, "I wanna stay up all night / I wanna just screw around / I don't wanna think about what's gonna be after this / I wanna just live right now." Ke$ha's preaching nihilism, within the confines of modern pop music. And modern pop music's confines state that in order to be a successful female pop star, you either have to be bonkers or beautiful. Or both. And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is why she has a dollar sign in her name.

There's no one quite like Ke$ha out there, you see. She might not quite have the gravitational pull of Lady Gaga, Katy Perry or Rihanna just yet but listening to an entire album's worth of Ke$ha's material is a gazillion times more enriching than doing the same with any of her apparent peers. She doesn't waste her time peppering her music with constant self-conscious cultural references, a la Lady Gaga. Nor is she a victim of the kind of super-slick PR machinery that holds together the pop construct that we call Rihanna. Ke$ha shows little sign of restraint on Warrior and that's precisely what makes it such an entertaining listen.  And it's a genuine lack of restraint, too, not the kind of tongue-in-cheek "ooh, look at me being dead naughty" lack of restraint that Katy Perry touts, either.

Talking of Perry, there's a moment at the start of the opening track ('Warrior') in which Ke$ha's vocals seem to be mimicking the Teenage Dream singer. Thankfully, any moments of imitation seem to be fleeting and incidental (or, if they're deliberate, then brief enough to make the point that she needn't rely on someone else's style to carry her through). Like the moment on 'C'Mon' when she goes all Nicki Minaj, before quickly bringing it all back home to the House of Ke$ha.

2010: Ke$ha at the MTV VMA Awards

Look at the picture above. It's Ke$ha arriving for the MTV Video and Music Awards back in 2010. She doesn't look great does she? Perhaps more suited to a night out on a street corner than one spent at a glitzy music event. Of course, Ke$ha's arrival into the music scene always saw her marketed as a trashy, uncompromising entity, foul-mouthed and shameless; whilst that was great for a novelty it sure led to a general mauling by the fashion critics every time she stepped out in public. However...

Kesha On Sleeping With Justin Bieber: It's News To Me!

Justin Bieber Kesha

Despite admitting she once had sex with a ghost, Kesha has categorically denied that she slept with Justin Bieber. In a bizarre lawsuit - reported by TMZ.com - Bieber is accused of cheating on his girlfriend with Kesha, Rihanna and Penelope Cruz, by someone alleging to be Selena Gomez's father.

Confused? So is Kesha, who told Australian radio show Hot30 Countdown, "I mean that's news to me .No, I have not, for the record, ever slept with Justin Bieber. More than that, he has a girlfriend who is really, really hot, so. I think he's sorted." In the frankly comical court documents filed earlier this year, the man alleging to be Selena's father says "Bieber has cost me $426.78 and never paid me back. This money was used as abortion money because Justin Bieber got my daughter Selena pregnant in my bedroom, on my canadian bear rug." Oh no, not the Canadian bear rug! Even funnier, he adds, "Usher Raymond came to my house on the fourth of July 2012 and sodomized me with a firework and lit it inside my anal area while blaring kate perry [sic] firework song in my ear drums." So just to recap, that's Usher sodomizing Selena Gomez's father with a firework while listening to Katy Perry.

None of this will worry Bieber, who is currently out on his tour of North American before he heads to the UK in February.

Ke$ha Had Sexual Experience With A Ghost?

Kesha Black Keys Flaming Lips Wayne Coyne

Kesha claims she once had a sexual experience with a ghost. The 25-year-old pop star was speaking on KIIS FM about the inspiration and ideas behind her spooky new song ‘Supernatural’.

The single is the second to be taken from Kesha’s new album ‘Warrior,’ which is packed full of electro-rock and dance-pop themes. As for the writing of ‘Supernatural,’ the singer explained, “It's about experiences with the supernatural…but in a sexy way. I had a couple of experiences with the supernatural. I don't know his name! He was a ghost! I'm very open to it.” It seems as though the entire record was inspired by similar oddities, and Kesha added, “The theme of this record is magic. I went on a spirit journey by myself. No security guard. No managers. I just went around the world and lived on a boat.” Kesha’s Tik Tok single catapulted the Californian to fame in 2009, gaining generally mixed reviews, though selling millions. To be fair, she’s enlisted a pretty impressive team for the new record, with The Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney and The Flaming LipsWayne Coyne lending a hand, as well as rock stalwart Iggy Pop.

‘Warrior’ – the follow-up the Kesha’s 2010 debut LP ‘Animal’ – will be released on December 3, 2012.
