Keri Hilson (born 1982) is an American pop singer and songwriter.
Keri Lynn Hilson was born in Decatur, Georgia. As a teenager, Hilson learned to play piano and to sing. At the age of 14, she joined a girl group named D'Signe. Whilst in high school, she worked as a backing singer and a vocalist. She later studied at Emory University.
Keri Hilson's songwriting career started seriously in 2001. She went on to write tracks for the likes of Britney Spears, Ludacris and Usher. Keri Hilson was credited as both a songwriter and a backing singer on Blackout, the Britney Spears album.
In 2004, Hilson appeared in 'Hey Now (Mean Muggin)' by Xzibit. Two years later, she signed to Mosley Music Group, the label owned by the notorious music producer Timbaland. She hooked up with Timbaland by singing down the phone for him, having been told by Polow da Don that Timbaland was searching for a new female R&B singer. Timbaland signed her as a recording artist and she appeared on Diddy's Press Play album, as well as 'Help' by Lloyd Banks. She also made a number of appearances on Timbaland's own album Shock Value. The track 'The Way I Are' reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Keri Hilson appeared in the video for Usher's track 'Love In This Club'. She also co-wrote the remix, 'Pt. II'. Hilson also starred in Ne-Yo's 'Miss Independent' video, as well as featuring on Nas' single, 'Hero'.
Keri Hilson's own debut solo album was eventually released in 2009, following a number of setbacks. Entitled In a Perfect World. the album debuted at number 4 in the US album charts. The first international single release was entitled 'Energy' and was released almost a year prior to the album release, in May 2008. The track was popular in New Zealand, but a release in the UK never happened. The second single from the album, 'Return the Favor' received a wider release and became a Top 20 hit in the UK. The third single, 'Turnin' Me On' featured Lil Wayne and reached number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The fourth release from the album is entitled 'Knock You Down' and features both Kanye West and Ne-Yo, demonstrating the respect that Hilson gets amongst the US' hip-hop and R&B community. In New Zealand, the track was a number one hit.

His adversaries soon return, however, determined to finally have his head (literally) but with more than one advantage over them such as the ability to see in the dark, it becomes a brutal and deadly chase with only one likely victor. Kelly Clarkson was the star of last night’s VH1 Divas show (Sunday December 16, 2012)… or rather her huge engagement ring was!
Clarkson’s partner, Brandon Blackstock proposed last week and the American Idol was looking radiantly happy as she took to the stage for the VH1 show. The Daily Mail have published snaps of the star, in her multi-fabric, figure hugging gown, her “canary yellow” diamond ring taking centre stage as she clutches the microphone stand in front of her.
Kelly joined a number of other female stars for the VH1 show, which was held in aid of the Save the Music foundation, which funds music programmes and has done so for the last decade. Kelly Rowland, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and Jordin Sparks were amongst the performers. The event paid tribute to Whitney Houston and Donna Summer, both of whom passed away this year.
Adam Lambert is to host VH1 Divas, the end-of-the-year special that the channel is preparing.
The show is to focus on famous divas in pop culture, honouring, paying tribute to and sometimes poking fun at some of 2012’s infamous diva moments. Lambert himself is very excited about the event, as he said in an interview with Access Hollywood: “I just feel like people aren’t ready for this party. I don’t think anyone’s going to be ready for it. It’s going to hit them like a ton of bricks across the face and people are going to walk away from watching this thing like, ‘That was the best party of the entire year. I feel it. Yeah!”
The phrase “a ton of bricks” sounds a bit ominous to us, but the show will feature some interesting segments, according to Lambert himself. There are scheduled performances by the likes of American Idol veterans Kelly Clarkson and Jordin Sparks, as well as Demi Lovato and Keri Hilson, all fitting nicely within the diva theme. There will also be a sketch, performed by Lambert himself with real housewife NeNe Leakes. Of course, the show will also aim to pay tribute to famous divas, the late Whitney Houston and Donna Summer. Lambert is excited about hosting the show, as well as performing himself. And let’s not forget all of the crazy costumes the self-proclaimed male diva will get to wear, some of which Lambert designed himself.
