Country star Kenny Chesney is set to spend his Thanksgiving Day on stage after signing up to perform in aid of the Salvation Army.

The singer will put on a half-time set at the Dallas Cowboys' home game against the Washington Redskins in Texas on 22 November (12) to launch the 122nd Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign.

He says, "There are great traditions in America - especially Thanksgiving, family and football. For 16 years the Dallas Cowboys and The Salvation Army have been an American tradition and I'm happy to be a part of it."

The annual fundraising drive aims to generate millions of dollars to support the Salvation Army's programs.
