Kelsey Grammer's representative has insisted he strapped his 4-month-old baby into a car seat before he left LAX airport earlier this week. Kelsey and Kayte Grammer's parenting techniques came under scrutiny after photographers snapped the family leaving the airport with baby Faith appearing to be resting on Kayte's lap - a violation of Californian law.

A representative for the actor, 57, tells E! News that the baby was fully belted into a car seat before the family left the airport. "I am not an attorney, so I cannot [comment] on any legal aspect. I just know that the original footage that aired strongly implied that they left the airport without a car seat, which was not the case," said Grammer's rep, Stan Rosenfield. So why was Faith on her mother's lap as Kelsey started up the car? Rosenfield explained, "In an attempt to avoid the paparazzi, they exited through the upper level. Kelsey went back in and got the car seat and met them at the car. Did the car drive a few yards without the car seat? Yes. At no time does the video show them leaving the airport with the baby not in the car seat."

The incident comes just weeks after Grammer took his daughter along to Hugh Hefner's Playboy mansion Halloween party. On that occasion, he explained, "Kayte is breast-feeding and we do not have a nanny or a trusted baby-sitter at this time, so Faith goes everywhere with us. We enjoyed the party with a few of our friends, the baby slept as her ears were covered the entire time and we left shortly after midnight."

What do you think? Should Kelsey have to keep justifying his parenting techniques?
