Don't Mistake Me
On Monday, June 19th 2006 young British soul sensation Keisha White will release her brand new single 'Don't Mistake Me' taken from her forthcoming album. The new single follows up her hugely successful top 20 hit 'The Weakness In Me' released earlier this year.
Recorded in London with the world-renowned Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, 'Don't Mistake Me' is the perfect slice of summer - a romantic soul record filled with jazzy beats and luscious lyrics. Likened to all sorts of talented vocalists, from Billie Holiday through to Alicia Keys, Keisha's voice is pure honey. Warm, sweet, a little vulnerable here, powerful there, it has a rare intimacy which far belies her tender age of 19 years which sometimes leads one to believe she's not behind the speaker panels at all, but actually in the room.
Music has always been a huge influence in Keisha's life. With her mother being a professional singer, Keisha has always been around music. "I call them the three A 's' - Aretha Franklin, Alicia Keys and Anita Baker proclaims Keisha of her musical mentors. "I learnt from these singers how important it is that music should be distinctive. Whether their songs were played 20 years ago, today or 2010, they're timeless and that's what I'm aspiring to do - make music that lasts forever. I want to help bring back something that has been almost lost for so long - great singing, live instruments and first-rate songs."
Everything is in place for Keisha to make the next step towards great musical success. "It's so great to be doing what I love. Being in front of the fans again and performing is such a fantastic buzz." This summer Keisha White will join fellow British artist Craig David as support on the UK leg of his upcoming world tour.
The video for 'Don't Mistake Me' stars Keisha White alongside renowned British actor Colin Salmon. Salmon, was recently tipped to becoming the Bond and is an inspiration to Keisha. "Acting is definitely something I would like to try in the near future so to have the opportunity to work with a legend like Colin is truly a dream come true!"
