Biography

Keisha Buchanan (born Keisha Kerreece Fayeanne Buchanan, 30.9.1984) was a founding member of the successful British girl group Sugababes. Keisha announced that she was leaving the band in September 2009

Sugababes

Whilst she was at primary school in Kingsbury, London, Keisha Buchanan met Mutya Buena. When they were 13, they met Siobhan Donaghy at a music studio and formed the group Sugababies (they changed the name to Sugababes later).

In 1998, Sugababes signed a deal with Island Records and released their debut, breakthrough single, 'Overload'. Sugababes performed the song live on Top of the Pops. The band's debut album, One Touch, was released in 2000.

The following year, Siobhan Donaghy left Sugababes and was replaced by Heidi Range. The band continued with this line-up until 2005, when Mutya Buena left the band and started a family. Buena was replaced by Amelle Berrabah. Four the next four years, this left Keisha as the only original member of the band. During her time in the band, Sugababes became one of the most successful girl groups of the 21st century, in terms of record sales. They had seven number one singles: 'Freak Like Me', 'Hole In the Head', 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' (with Band Aid 20) 'Push the Button', 'Walk This Way' (with Girls Aloud) and 'About You Know'. Two of their albums, Taller In More Ways and Change were also number one hits.

Keisha Buchanan's last release with Sugababes was 'Get Sexy'.

Solo Career

Keisha Buchanan announced that she was leaving Sugababes on 21st September 2009. She will be replaced in the band by Jade Ewen, a former UK Eurovision entrant chosen by Andrew Lloyd Webber to perform one of his songs. Keisha will pursue a solo career with Island Records.

In 2004, Keisha worked with Crazy Titch on his 2004 track 'Gully'.

Keisha Buchanan was featured on Big-Z' 2007 album A New Big-Inning, on the track 'Can't Bring Me Down'. The following year, she appeared on 'Writing's On the Wall' by Don-E. She also performed with James Morrison on his song 'Broken Strings', for Children In Need.

Sugababes 2.0, or Mutya Keisha Siobhan (a.k.a MKS) as they are otherwise known, have announced their plans to release their first official single together on 6 September. This is the second time that the girls have moved the release date for 'Flatline,' having previously set 1 September as the ETA, before moving it to 15 September. Finally, the long awaited original Sugarbabes reunion – now under the name Mutya Keisha Siobhan – has been made official with the release of their first single. Flatline, the track which the three ladies wrote together, debuted today on their Soundcloud page. Its official release date is set for September 1st. The Dev-Hynes produced song is the first piece of music, released by the trio of Siobhan Donaghy, Mutya Buena and Keisha Buchanan, since Donaghy left the Sugarbabes during a 2001 promotional tour in Japan.

After the premiere of Flatline, Mutya Keisha Siobhan will participate in a Google+ hangout with fans tonight (July 4) at 6pm. This is only the first in a string of promotional efforts for the song, however. This month, the reformed trio will fly out to Los Angeles to film the video for Flatline and August will kick off live performances. Mutya Keisha Siobhan have been announced to perform at G-A-Y in London on August 31st. Additionally, they have one more already announced date on schedule – at Brighton and Hove Pride on August 3rd.
