Keira Knightley wore her ''dream dress'' to the Golden Globes.

The 'Atonement' star has confessed she immediately fell in love with the embroidered Chanel creation - from the label's most recent Metiers d'Art, Paris - Salzburg collection - and couldn't wait to wear it to the prestigious awards ceremony, reports Vogue magazine.

The brunette beauty - who is expecting her first child with her husband James Righton - said: ''As soon as I saw the Paris - Salzburg collection, I knew that I wanted to wear this fantastic dress!

''It is my absolute dream dress, so light and in this beautiful pale green colour. Up close, I was impressed to see the intricate embroidery work made into beautiful butterflies and feathers. It's just like a fairytale!''

The French fashion house's head designer and creative director, Karl Lagerfeld, was more than happy to grant Keira her wish.

He said of the actress - who has also fronted campaigns for the brand's Coco Mademoiselle fragrance: ''I love Keira so much, she is such a talented actress, a sweet and beautiful person to work with.

''Even pregnant, wearing that dress from Paris - Salzburg collection, she has the lightness of a butterfly!''

After accepting her request, the dress is said to have taken a 30-strong workforce at the Parisian label a week to make.
