Singer Katy Perry wanted to call her latest album 'Teenage Dream' after being able to fulfill hers.
Katy Perry called her album 'Teenage Dream' in tribute to her youthful ambitions.
The 'California Gurls' singer picked the title because it is a reminder of her own hopes as a teenager and also because she wrote the track which gives its name to the LP close to her childhood home.
She told MTV news: "I want to call it Teenage Dream because there's a song on the record called that and I wrote that song in Santa Barbara and it was a very pure moment for me, because that's where I'm from.
"And it was, like, where I started my creative juices. And also it kind of exudes this euphoric feeling because everybody remembers what their teenage dreams were - all the girls that were on your poster walls.
"And I want to continue to be one of those ... teenage wet dreams."
Katy has previously admitted the record was inspired by Abba and The Cardigans.
She said "The new album is going to be more groove driven and be about making people dance because when I went on tour, as much as I love all the in-between songs, I felt I was missing some of the stuff that made people bounce up and down and I really love that feeling when people are all jumping in unison."
