Swift tweeted her 61 million followers on Wednesday morning (August 5th) that the slow-burning ballad ‘Wildest Dreams’ would be the next cut to be released from 1989. “Just wanted to let you know that the next single from 1989 will be........... Wildest Dreams,” she wrote.

There’s been mixed news for Katy Perry in the legal battle concerning a former convent in Los Angeles that she wishes to purchase, with a ruling handed down on Thursday in favour of the archbishop (who wants to sell to her) over the order of nuns who had arranged a deal with another purchaser.

While this is positive news for her, the judge in the case ultimately deferred the decision over the actual sale of the property, ruling that church law had jurisdiction over sale of the property, rather than civil law.

The bizarre legal battle between two nuns and an archbishop over a Los Angeles hilltop convent that the latter wants to sell to pop megastar Katy Perry is to go to court today.

An order of nuns owns the multi-million dollar property in the hills surrounding L.A., and claims that it has sold it to a businesswoman, Dana Hollister, who intends to convert it into a 60-room boutique hotel with a restaurant and bar, for $10 million. However, L.A. Archbishop Jose Gomez claims that it wasn’t theirs to sell in the first place, that the property actually belongs to the diocese and that Perry’s offer amounts to a better deal.

Katy Perry has found herself caught up in a bizarre property dispute, featuring two nuns, an Archbishop and a restauranteur. It all started when Perry decided she wanted to buy a former covent in Los Feliz, an affluent section of Los Angeles, but found her proposal being rejected by two former residents, Sister Rita Callanan and Sister Catherine Rose Holzman.

Katy Perry is currently in a property dispute with two L.A. nuns.

The two nuns, who have not lived in the property since 2011, would reportedly rather sell the 8-acre property to restaurateur Dana Hollister, who plans to turn it into a 60-room boutique hotel with a restaurant and bar, according to court papers.

Katy Perry has made a rare public reflection on her split from ex-husband Russell Brand in a new interview, and it seems that she’s got no time for wallowing in sadness and generally prefers to not waste her time talking about it.

Pop star Katy Perry has failed in a bid to register a “Left Shark” design as a trademark, in an attempt to cash in on the internet phenomenon sparked by her Super Bowl halftime show earlier this year.

Back in February, one of the singer’s two back-up dancers dressed as a cute cartoon shark seemed to have forgotten his choreography, throwing some rather erratic moves compared to the other. The incident was dubbed “Left Shark” and was the most talked-about event of the evening on social media, eclipsing the game itself and spawning a ton of internet memes.

The video comes to us halfway through her Prismatic World Tour as she is currently in the second leg of the tour, traveling through the US. Throughout November and December she will visit Australia and New Zealand, before spending February and March of next year in Europe.

Katy Perry is no stranger to controversy, but she has managed to stay away from legal copyright disputes so far. Well, not anymore. The singer is being sued over her catchy single Dark Horse, which the plaintiffs claim replicated their 2006 song Joyful Noise. But that’s not even the strangest part of this story.

The four musicians suing Perry are a Christian rock band and claim that the pop songstress not only used their original tune, but that she also sullied it with “witchcraft, paganism, black magic and Illuminati imagery”. This case isn’t Perry’s first brush with plagiarism accusations – last year, she came under fire for the apparent similarities between her single Roar and Sara Bareilles’ Brave.

Her most recently released record, Prism, currently stands at sales exceeding 1.1 million. Digital sales altogether land Perry at 72 million, which easily puts her at number one in front of the competition.

Hillary Clinton might be hitting the 2016 campaign trail soon and she’s got an unlikely ally along the way. Katy Perry, songstress, label boss and cupcake enthusiast has offered to pen a campaign song for Hillary, should she decide to run.

She may have stumbled along the way, but these days Perry is all about female empowerment.

"I told hillaryclinton that I would write her a "theme" song if she needs it," the singer said Friday on Instagram, a day after she met Clinton at a book signing for Clinton's new memoir "Hard Choices."

Thursday (12th June) saw the launch of Katy Perry's latest philanthropic venture in Los Angeles. The 29-year-old appeared at the Nokia Theater in L.A. and launched her Make Roar Happen campaign in collaboration with Staples. Perry is currently having a short break before commencing the US leg of her The Prismatic World Tour. She will begin touring in North Carolina at the end of the month.

John Mayer has addressed the news that his ex-girlfriend Katy Perry is planning on writing songs inspired by their relationship. The singer songwriter is usually pretty guarded about his personal life but for some reason felt comfortable talking to a TMZ pap about his famous exes and how some choose to write songs about him.

There was a touch of arrogance to Mayer's words as he opened up on dating fellow pop stars. Confronted by the news that Perry has plans for a John Mayer break-up song in the vein of Taylor Swift's 'Dear John,' Mayer was bolshy.

"I actually want everybody's song to go #1," he said as a self-confessed "third wheel" whilst out with two friends. "I purposely stopped writing hits to give other people a chance to have #1 songs. I just stand to the side." "I have super strength for gang-ups, I'm fine," Mayer replied when asked if he was bothered by the songs his former lovers write about him. "That's what you're supposed to do, man, you're supposed to write songs. You're just not supposed to tell everybody you're doing it." Miaow.

Today, Lorde has tried to prove to her fans that Photoshop perfection is not something to aspire to and that "flaws are ok" in selfies and photos. To illustrate her point, the singer posted two photos of herself performing at one concert on Twitter, one of which had been edited to perfection and the other showed off the young pop star's natural look.

5 Seconds of Summer are on target to claim a number one single in the UK this week, with their hit track 'She Looks So Perfect.' The Australian boyband's catchy new single is selling extremely well in Britain with a reported 71,000 copies of their track shifted, according to the Official Charts Company. That's a lot more than the week's second best-selling single so far, fellow new entry 'Changes' by Faul & Wad Ad vs Pnau which has sold 45,000 units so far.

The poppy foursome have managed to dethrone last week's number one, Duke Dumont's 'I Got U Ft. Jax Jones,' which was relegated to third place. Not only are they meant to pursue their own careers as actresses, singers or whatever else their profession may be, now they’re expected to be political activists as well. Everything they do must be related back to how much of a ‘feminist’ they are: each action is assessed for its level of feminism; each quote dissected to discuss what could possibly be seen as damaging or encouraging to young female fans.

In 2012 Katy told Billboard magazine, “I am not a feminist, but I do believe in the strength of women.” Big mistake. The feminist blogosphere erupted, slamming Katy for being a bad role model. She learned her lesson though, when asked on Sunday whether she is a feminist, Katy’s response was, “A feminist? Uh, yeah, actually. I used to not really understand what that word meant, and now that I do, it just means that I love myself as a female and I also love men.”  Um, well, wrong again.

John Mayer is taking legal action after it emerged that what he thought were vintage Rolex watches were fakes in a scam that has affected celebrities all over Hollywood. The singer-songwriter is reportedly suing jewellery dealer Robert Maron, a friend to actor Charlie Sheen, who allegedly supplied the phony timepieces.

Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry have known each other for years. The pair have been photographed together at events since long before Miley was the peroxide party girl that she is today. That’s why we don’t know whether to take their brewing Twitter feud with a pinch of salt or if these two really are headed for a serious fall out. Lorde has officially become the first music entertainer to have a debut album reach more than a million in sells since October. The singer is also the first woman to reach over a million copies for a debut album since Adele in April 2011. The album is currently sitting at number six on the Billboard 200 charts right behind Beyonce's album.

If this news is anythign to go by, women singers may be off to a good start this year in terms of album sells. Beyonce ended 2013 as the only woman to sell a million album copies. However, for the year 2014 Lorde is the second woman to have over a million albums sold. Katy Perry's second album "PRISM" also sold over a million copies.

Katy Perry's new music video 'Dark Horse' is making headlines across the world for all the wrong reasons. An online petition has attracted nearly 60,000 signatures calling for YouTube to remove 'Dark Horse' from its site. Shazad Iqbal, of Bradford in the UK, launched the petition in the name of blasphemy, saying the treatment of an "Allah" necklace seen worn in the clip is offensive to Muslims.

There’s been a ton of buzz around New Zealand singer and songwriter, Lorde, since her first EP The Love Club came out in November 2012. The GQ interview was done just before Perry’s American Music Awards performance from 2013 – the one, where she dressed up like a geisha and ignited a string of accusations in cultural appropriation. She defends her choices with the classic performer excuse – she did it for her art, apparently: “All I was trying to do is just give a very beautiful performance about a place that I have so much love for and find so much beauty in, and that was exactly where I was coming from, with no other thought besides it.”

Katy Perry appeared as the cover girl for the February issue of GQ magazine, where amongst other things, she revealed that she genuinely believes in extraterrestrial beings and that we are not alone. She also spoke about praying for large breasts, regretting that prayer in later life, her dislike of cannabis, losing her virginity, the beginnings of her career and much more, but it was her other worldly beliefs that has caught on.
