Ellen Degeneres has attracted vociferous criticism over a recent tweet she directed to Katy Perry, with many decrying the presenter as “sexist” and as having “double standards”.

Katy Perry has spoken about putting her old feud with fellow music star Calvin Harris to rest, after the two of them collaborated on the track ‘Feels’ earlier this year.

32 year old Perry, the host of the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards, spoke about her various “falling outs” with Scottish producer Harris from about eight years ago when she had been beefing with his now-ex-girlfriend, Taylor Swift.

Katy Perry will be the host of the MTV Video Music Awards next month, as well as performing at the ceremony, it has been confirmed.

The VMAs will take place at the Fabulous Forum in Inglewood, California on Sunday August 27th, and, in advance of the commencement of her latest world tour in support of her new album Witness, Perry will get the honour of being the first performer on the night as well as being the master of ceremonies.

“I’ve been training with MTV in zero gravity, eating astronaut ice cream, and I’m on a group text with Buzz Aldrin and Neil deGrasse Tyson. Come August 27th, I’ll be ready to be your MOONWOMAN! Brace for impact, kids,” she wrote on Instagram on Thursday as the big reveal was made.

Katy Perry has come under fire in Australia after a promotional ad for a department store saw her tell her dog to “go chase some koalas”.

The 32 year old pop megastar is in the country to plug her tour there in 2018, and she launched a series of online promotions with Myer, Australia’s largest department store. However, the company has said that it’s planning to edit one such advert after a leading vet criticised its insensitivity.

“This is just absolute ignorance from Perry and Myer,” Claire Madden told the Courier-Mail newspaper on Wednesday (July 5th). “It’s inappropriate on so many levels. Perry is a role model to so many young people, and this just destroys all the good work we do to try to encourage people not to let their dogs come into contact with koalas.”

Taylor Swift has decided to end her long-standing boycott of streaming services, announcing that her back catalogue of albums will return to services such as Spotify.

Swift made the decision to pull her entire discography from streaming services back in late 2014, citing the deleterious effect she felt that the streaming model was having on the music industry. However, her reversal comes reportedly as a thank-you to her fans after her most recent album 1989 passed the 10 million sales mark.

“In celebration of 1989 selling over 10 Million Albums Worldwide and the RIAA's 100 Million Song Certification announcement, Taylor wants to thank her fans by making her entire back catalog available to all streaming services tonight at midnight,” a Taylor Swift fan Instagram page announced on Thursday night (June 8th).

Glastonbury Festival has announced the first tranche of artists to be playing at Worthy Farm this year, confirming 83 acts in addition to the three main headliners of Ed Sheeran, Radiohead and Foo Fighters.

Among the dozens of confirmed acts announced on Thursday (March 30th) are some surprisingly massive names, not least in the shape of pop royalty Katy Perry and Scottish rock titans Biffy Clyro who could expect to headline virtually any other festival in the world.

A large number of music veterans and heroes of yesteryear are also scheduled to make appearances. Former Bee Gee Barry Gibb is set to take the traditional Sunday afternoon ‘legend’ slot, filled by Madness, Lionel Richie and Dolly Parton in the previous three editions of Glastonbury.
