Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension Trailer

Ryan has just moved into his new home in Palo Alto, California, alongside his down-to-earth wife Emily, their 6-year old daughter Leila and Ryan's brother Mike. During the move, Ryan discovers a box of VHS tapes in the basement and decides to watch one of them. The video shows a young Katie with her sister Kristi practising some form of ESP as taught by their grandmother, and they are freaked out to discover that the girls seem to be communicating with the new family directly, even though the film was shot two decades previous. Curious to learn more about the goings on in the house, they find an old camera which appears to show things the naked eye cannot; sinister apparitions, demonic figures and supernatural activity in the ether. They may be super excited at first, but things get intensely scary when Leila starts talking backwards and acting very strangely. It soon becomes clear that the spiritual presence in their house is not a friendly one, and they have to do everything they can to save Leila and themselves from a deadly fate.

Paranormal Activity 4 Trailer: Do We Still Find This Stuff Scary?

The Paranormal Activity 4 trailer has made its debut online and seems to suggest the latest movie will see a young Californian couple become terrified of a very small boy with a bowl haircut.

After milking the cash cow for all it’s worth, the makers of the horror series still think there’s another story to tell in there somewhere and seem to have resorted to the ‘demon child’ angle. Has this been done before? Yes, many, many times. But anyway, Paranormal Activity 4 once again catches up with Katie (Katie Featherston) and Hunter, whose last appearance together took place after a double murder. They move into a new home in Nevada, but strange things begin to happen to their neighbors across the street. Throw a child with a suspect haircut into the mix, and all hell breaks loose. The first three movies have totalled around $600 million in ticket sales, and we expect the fourth instalment to add to the tally considerably. Its predecessor set a new record for the midnight opening of a horror film – taking a cool $8 million.

The film arrives in theaters on October 19, 2012 – just in time for Halloween. Yeah, we think the marketing guys at Paramount of this got down to a tee now.

'Paranormal Activity 4' is the chilling fourth instalment of the popular horror series though little has been revealed about the main plot. We do know that the sequel will feature Katie who winded up succumbing to demonic possession at the end of the first two films and subsequently butchered her boyfriend, her sister Kristi and Kristi's husband Daniel as well as kidnapping their baby son Hunter who also appeared to become possessed. She is set to bring the malevolent evil that has stalked her family to terrorize another group of victims. When Katie and Hunter show up outside the house of Alice and her family, they start to suspect that there is a connection between Katie and their new next door neighbours.

As youngsters in 1988, sisters Katie and Krista adored playing in their back garden, while their father filmed them on his video camera. They had no idea that a demon had been haunting them - and their family - since the time of their great grandmother, who allegedly made a deal with the demon in exchange for wealth, which requires the sacrifice of the first born male offspring. But since then, there has been no males born into the family.

Paranormal Activity Review

Very Good

While this gimmicky movie creates a superb creep-out atmosphere, it's never actually very scary. There are a couple of good jolts, but the idea itself is more unsettling than any anxiety the filmmaker can generate.

Katie and Micah have been hearing odd noises in the night, so Micah buys a video camera to record things while they're sleeping. These eerie experiences have haunted Katie all her life, so they consult a psychic (Fredrichs) who tells them it sounds like a demon rather than a ghost. Over the next three weeks, there's an increasing amount of night-time activity, starting with loud bumps and swaying light fixtures, then escalating to sleepwalking, sinister footsteps and freaky physical attacks.
