The Romancing The Stone star has signed on to play the mother of a lesbian contemplating gender reassignment surgery in the world premiere of John S. Anastasi's Would You Still Love Me...

R&B singer-turned-actress Deborah Cox will co-star as the surgeon, while Rebecca Brooksher and Sofia Jean Gomez will play a the gay couple.

The production will be directed by Nona Gerard and begin previews at the New World Stages on 26 September (15).

Turner last appeared on Broadway in 2011 play High, while she previously earned Tony Award nominations for her turns in 2005's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and a 1990 revival of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

Cox is also no stranger to the stage - she has featured in Broadway productions of Jekyll & Hyde and Aida, and will portray singer Josephine Baker in a Florida show next year (16), in addition to stepping into Whitney Houston's role in The Bodyguard for a North American theatre tour.
