The Royal Wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William is shaping up to be one of the most talked about events in recent decades, but news today suggests that the ceremony could get even bigger, as Elton John has hinted he may play live at Westminster Abbey on the big day. Sir Elton famously performed 'Candle in the Wind' at the funeral of PRINCESS DIANA OF WALES in 1997.
Quoted by the Daily Mail speaking on STEVE WRIGHT's BBC2 Radio show, the 63-year-old was asked whether it was likely that he would be 'tinkling the ivories' come April 29th 2011, to which he replied 'I probably will', before adding, "I'll probably be busking outside". Although his response was regarded as being humorous and jokey, the comment has sparked a flurry of media interest given the singer's close connection to the Royal Family. However, despite speculation of a performance, Elton admits that the public are probably getting tired of news on the wedding now, saying, "I think we've had enough of that for the time being".
The singer is set to guest edit Britain's Independent newspaper tomorrow (1st December 2010) in support of World AIDS Day.
