Kate Hudson used to crave sugar like an ''addict.''

The 36-year-old actress - who has four-year-old son Bingham with ex-partner Matt Bellamy and 11-year-old son Ryder with ex-husband Chris Robinson - was forced to make drastic changes to her diet after she noticed scoffing down sweet treats on a daily basis was affecting her physical health and mental well-being.

Asked how she stays in great shape, the blonde stunner told Jimmy Choo while shooting the autumn/winter collection for the luxury brand: ''I would say cutting sugar, or at least being aware of how much you are ingesting in a day and limiting it.

''That was an eye opener for me, I realised I was craving it [sugar] like an addict around 4pm every day.''

She added: ''I would crave something sweet and it hit me how much sugar we really eat.''

But it's not just down to following a balanced and nutritious diet as Kate - who is the daughter of legendary actress Goldie Hawn - also makes sure she lives an active lifestyle and banishes the stress by meditating daily.
