The title of supermodel Karen Elson's debut album was inspired by a cruel taunt fired at her by bullies when she was a teenager.
The redhead, who is married to White Stripes star Jack White, was dubbed 'The Ghost' in high school - because of her pale complexion - and now she has used the nickname to her advantage.
She tells Spinner.com, "It was definitely a mean thing... At 14, it's not cool to be the scrawny ghost who walks. The connotation of that as a teenager was, you're really pale, you're really gawky - you're a ghost."
Elson's album is called The Ghost Who Walks.
She performed at her husband's Third Man Records studio in Nashville, Tennessee on Monday night (24May10) to fans that included Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban.
