The rapper's new album isn't there to be sold, just to rock out to, according to Kanye
Governors Ball festival in New York saw Kanye West fans get a insight into his new album as the rapper – who celebrated his birthday recently – played new tracks from his upcoming album, Yeezus.
Addressing the excited crowd, Kayne said: "This is usually the part of the show where I start complaining about shit.," referencing his infamous political and social grumblings that usually accompany his live shows. "I'm just happy to be making music and be able to perform that shit tonight. Y’know, with this album we ain’t dropped no single to radio, we ain’t got no big campaign shit. We ain’t even got no cover, we just made some real music." Alongside New Slaves, which we’ve all heard, West debuted I Am God – a rather unsubtle indication of his oft-talked about God complex – as well as On Site and Clique. "But honestly,” he continued, according to The NME, “...when I listen to the radio, that ain’t where I wanna be no more,” he said, which sounds like moaning to us. “At this point I don't give a f*ck about selling a million records, I just want to put out an album this that you can rock to this summer." Cheers, Kanye.
Mr. West had to spend his birthday apart from his beau Kim Kardashian, as his pregnant girlfriend was too, well, pregnant to fly out and meet him. Instead, he celebrated it N.Y.C style, in a club with celebrity friends Jay Z, Beyonce and Nas – as you do.
