Kanye West has reportedly been in talks with Will Ferrell to make his life story into a movie.

The rapper, who has in the past expressed his admiration for Ferrell, is said to want to make a comedy biopic and ‘not take himself too seriously’.

A friend of West told the Daily Star: "He has been thinking about this this for a long, long time and he has been trading ideas with Will.

"Rather than take himself too seriously, he feels it has to be a comedy and not a preachy film.”

West is also said to want Ferrell’s friend Adam McKay to be involved in the project because he is a fan of their previous work together.

In September Kanye spoke to W magazine about his love for Ferrell, but first compared himself to his character in Elf, saying: “I'm the elf that's Will Ferrell, that's too big for his hands to make the toys.”

He then added: “He is one of my personal gods. I would like Will Ferrell to play me in The Kanye West Story. Can you make that happen?"

Earlier this year, following the release of Zoolander 2, Kanye also tweeted: "Will Ferrell has reached walking living breathing god status."

"His existence is a blessing. Perhaps it was seeing him play the same character from 15 years ago with 15 more years experience. That showed how sharp and Bruce Lee status he is.”

“We all know Will Ferrell has always been the one!!! I just want to thank Will Ferrell for the years of joy he has brought into my life with amazing comedy.

“And also let's shout out to the art direction...candy on the screens! It is so inspiring,” he added. “Thank you for existing!”
