Kanye West probably had one of his most awkward career moments at a recent show in Australia. On Friday night (Sept 12th), the 37 year-old rapper asked fans at a show in Qantas Credit Union Arena in Sydney to stand up, but when some remained seated, he stopped performing to ask why.

When West interrupted the show, which is part of his Yeezus tour, he singled out an individual who didn't oblige and asked, "Is he in a wheelchair?" which prompted the sold-out crowd to begin booing.

"There's literally two people left," he continued. "There's two people left. They don't want to stand up. This is the longest I've had to wait to do a song. It's unbelievable."

After the awkward pause, he then said, "Now, if he is in a wheelchair, it's fine" and performed the song moments later.

In a fan video, posted on YouTube, it is unclear how many people were actually in wheelchairs, but several individuals did not get up, and eventually someone in the crowd confirmed to the 'Black Skinhead' rapper that they were handicapped.

West's insensitive behaviour clearly upset many concertgoers as they took to Twitter soon after to vent their anger with him. "Oh..they ARE in a wheelchair?? PLAY THE SONG," one disgruntled fan posted, another added, "Just remembered Kanye telling 2 kids in a wheelchair to stand up for an uncomfortably long amount of time. That sucked."
