The HBO series returns for its final season on April 16.
The end is near for ‘The Leftovers’, as HBO have released the teaser for the show’s third and final season. Season three will premiere on the network on April 16, and judging by the promo things are looking pretty grim for Kevin Garvey and the rest of the show’s main characters.
The clip shows characters including Garvey (Justin Theroux), Matt Jamison (Christopher Eccleston), Laurie Garvey (Amy Brenneman) and Nora Durst (Carrie Coon) looking up to the sky.

The Beach Boys’ ‘Don't Worry Baby’ plays in the background until a message written in the sky by a plane can be seen, reading, "The End Is Near”. The final season will pick up where they left off in Austin, Texas, before relocating to Australia.
Earlier this month Justin Theroux revealed he’d finished filming the series’ final eight episodes, sharing a behind-the-scenes photo of himself on Instagram standing in front of a soundboard.
“My absolute last day of work for the massive minds behind this show,” he captioned the pic. “Went full K-Garv in the car right after this. Thank you Damon Lindelof et al. #soundmix #bts.”
Created by Tom Perrotta, who wrote the novel on which the series was based, and ‘Lost’s’ Damon Lindelof ‘The Leftovers’ debuted on HBO in 2014. The series has so far picked up two Critics Choice Awards, including for Most Exciting New Series in 2014, and received two Writers Guild of America nominations.
