One of the more unlikely celebrity rivalries – between Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney and Justin Bieber – has taken an even more unexpected turn. Carney has overhauled his Twitter page, including his name, to replicate that of Bieber’s.

This comes after a war of words between the pair, kicked off by Carney who said "He's rich, right?" when asked if Bieber should have received a Grammy nomination. "I mean, I don't know. Grammys are, like, for music, not for money, and he's making a lot of money. I don't know – he should be happy, I guess."

Bieber responded to this, rather playing into the dummer’s hands, tweeting “the black keys drummer should be slapped around haha”. And now look what you’ve done; now we’ve got ANOTHER person pretending to be Bieber. Still, we’d rather this than anyone actually slapping Carney around. Bieber – who is on a European tour – is yet to respond to the bizarre move, but given his recent behaviour, we doubt he’ll laugh it off and move on.

The more cynical amongst you, and if you ask us, the more sensible, will recognise this as a case of opportunism, as The Black Keys aim to get some increased exposure off the back of Bieber’s monolithic profile. Or not, who knows?
