Julianne Moore says she and her husband Bart Freundlich fell in love over a period of months when he shot her in his movie 'The Myth of Fingerprints'.
Julianne Moore wasn't ''instantly'' attracted to her husband.
The 'Still Alice' star met director Bart Freundlich when they worked together on 'The Myth of Fingerprints' and the 54-year-old star - who has children Cal, 17, and Liv, 12, with the 45-year-old filmmaker - admits their love blossomed slowly as the project progressed.
Asked if their attraction was instant, she said: ''It wasn't instant. It built up when we were working together and we didn't want it to end. We opted to continue.''
Prior to meeting Bart in 1996, Julianne was married to 64-year-old John Gould Rubin, but they have had no contact since separating in 1993.
Speaking in the new issue of Psychologies magazine, she said: ''We didn't stay in touch. You can't have experience without residue.''
Despite the large age gaps between her and both of her husbands, the 'Kids Are All Right' actress insists she never thinks of them as ''connection'' is more important to her than ''cultural references''.
She said: ''It's about the connection with the person. I have women friends who are significantly older or younger than me. It's not about cultural references, it's about who you are and I've been on both sides of that.''
