Amber Rose And Julianne Hough Clear Up Their 'Body-Shaming' Beef

Amber Rose Julianne Hough

Julianne Hough and Amber Rose have put to bed their reported ‘body-shaming’ beef on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ this week.

After her performance on Monday night’s episode (October 3rd) with dance partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy, the 32 year old model addressed rumours that she had become upset by Hough’s comments on the previous week’s show that Rose’s dance had made her “uncomfortable”, with Rose reportedly thinking that the judge meant her iconic hourglass body instead.

“I felt you weren't talking about my dance,” Rose said to Hough, one of the judging panel, on the evening’s episode, indicating that it was all in the past. “If I misunderstood, I apologize. I'm a very positive person. I don't like to argue or bicker or make things weird, so moving forward, I just want complete positive energy.”

Why Julianne Hough “Shocks” Her Body, And Will “Audition For Anything”

Julianne Hough

It is easy to tell just by looking at Julianne Hough that she likes to keep fit and healthy, but surprisingly there is more to her fitness regime then just learning all those intense and complex routines on 'Dancing With the Stars.'

Julianne Hough
Hough recently revealed her intense training regime

Hough, who is now a judge on the hit dancing competition show, came up with other ways to stay in shape than just dancing every day. As well as trying to sleep eight hours a day and eating a healthy breakfast, the 26 year-old star has other tricks up her sleeve.

Following His Sister's Ill Advised Costume Idea, Derek Hough Goes Punk For Halloween

Derek Hough Julianne Hough

When Dancing With the Stars professional Julianne Hough went out for Halloween, her plan was to honour one of her favourite television characters; Crazy Eyes from the hit Netflix series Orange is the New Black. What she didn't intend on doing was causing a minor uproar and potentially offend some sensitive souls who were genuinely shocked to see the professional dancer dressed in black face. When it was time for her brother, Derek Hough, to go out for Halloween, you can bet that he kept it generic and inoffensive.

Derek Hough
Derek Hough, offending original punks since 2013

Derek dressed up for the Casamigos Tequila Halloween Party in Los Angeles, the same event where Julianne went dressed up as Crazy Eyes (who is played by Uzo Aduba in the show), in much less offensive attire and may have had something to say while he was there. If he didn't address the poor costume choice on the night, then at least he did his best to stick up for his kid sister in the aftermath of the fallout from the costume controversy.

Halloween Rolls Around With Plenty Of Ridiculousness, Including Julianne Hough's Blackface Scandal

Julianne Hough Uzo Aduba

Halloween weekend just passed and with it – the offensive, stereotypical costumes. There are a few every year and celebrities aren’t exempt from the rule. Case in point – former Dancing with the Stars staple Julianne Hough, who, apparently having been absent from the world for the past few decades, decided it would be ok to wear blackface as part of her costume. It wasn’t, of course, but in all fairness, Hough’s costume seems to be more a product of ignorance, rather than outright racial hate.

Julianne Hough, Mike Meldman Halloween Party
Halloween is the season for bad judgement, but this is going overboard.

See, everyone (well, most people) like to dress up as their favorite characters, be it from books, movies or TV, especially when Halloween rolls around. In Hough’s case, the character was Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren from Orange Is the New Black, played by actress Uzo Aduba. In our humble opinion, the orange jumpsuit and Crazy Eyes name tag should have made the costume recognizable enough, but Hough apparently decided to go that extra mile, crossing boldly into racially offensive territory. Aduba and her reps chose to wisely steer clear of the whole debacle, but plenty of twitter users were quick to jump on Hough’s case. So much so, that she was forced to apologize the very next morning after the pictures surfaced. And to her critics’ delight, it wasn’t the kind of non-apology we’re used to.

Julianne Hough Attends Halloween Bash With Blackface. That Happened.

Julianne Hough

The world is split into two separate factions. Those who think it's still acceptable to wear a blackface, and those who don't.Everyone's favorite dancer Julianne Hough is semingly a fully paid up member of the former camp, having turned up to a Halloween party on Friday night (October 25, 2013) as a black character from the Netflix drama Orange is the New Black

Julianne HoughJulianne Hough, with Blackface.

The 25-year-old showed up at the Casamigos Tequila bash in Beverly Hills on Friday as 'Crazy Eyes,' the character played by Uzo Aduba in the critically acclaimed drama. Aduba is black. Hough is not black. Herein lies the problem.

Julianne Hough Gets Called Out On Sporting Blackface For A Halloween Costume, Promptly Apologizes

Julianne Hough

There is still tons of cultural appropriation going on in entertainment, fashion, media, you name it. Still, in 2013, one would hope that we’ve at least moved on from blackface – not so, it would seem, as Safe Haven actress Julianne Hough was so keen to demonstrate ahead of Halloween this year. In a misguided nod of appreciation to the hit series Orange Is the New Black, Hough donned an orange jumpsuit, a “Crazy Eyes” nametag (apparently portraying) Orange character Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren… and painted herself with a thick layer of shiny brown makeup.

Julianne Hough, Primetime Emmy Awards
The platinum blonde, caucasian actress somehow decided it would be okay to wear blackface to a party.

Given the tradition of using blackface to mock the entirety of the black American population, and its use to denote black people as “other.” In short, not cool. Twitter users, bloggers and the general population of the internet was quick to point this out to Ms Hough.

Split Between Ryan Seacrest And Julianne Hough: The Most Civil Breakup Ever?

Ryan Seacrest Julianne Hough

Ryan Seacrest and girlfriend Jennifer Hough have decided to take a break from their relationship.

After dating for more than two years, the media mogul and American Idol host and his actress and Dancing with the Stars pro girlfriend are calling it quits in order to take care of themselves and their respective careers, People magazine reports. "It's a hard thing to do, especially when you're so caught up in your work and bettering yourself," Hough recently told PARADE. "I think at the end of the day you have to find a balance with what's really important." Apparently, this no longer includes their relationship.

This comes as a bit of a surprise, as there has been no indication of any trouble between the two. In fact, just after the new year, Hough and Seacrest took a special romantic trip to St. Barts together, where they appeared to be more in love than ever. The fast pace of Hollywood has taken its toll on the relationship though and now the pair are calling it quits. Well, a break isn’t the same as a breakup anyway, right? And even if it is, at least these two are being remarkably civil about the whole thing, unlike some other Hollywood couples that come to mind. And there have been no songs written about the whole thing (yet).

Julianne Hough Leaves Jewelry Worth $100,000 In Car: Guess What Happened?

Julianne Hough Ryan Seacrest

Julianne Hough is reeling from having $100,000 worth of jewelry stolen from her car on Friday night (March 8, 2013). The actress - the girlfriend of Ryan Seacrest - was in Hollywood visiting a friend in an apartment complex, parking her Mercedes in the lot while leaving three pieces of jewellery inside the car, jewellery that Ryan had given to her.

According to TMZ.com, Julianne returned to the vehicle a few hours later, only to find the door wide open and her jewels nowhere to be seen. It's unclear whether Hough left the door unlocked, though there were no visible signs of forced entry. Though specifics are sketchy, there were 3 pieces of jewelry in the car, carrying a total value of 100k. One of the items was a watch worth $50,000 alone. Hough has not commented publically on the matter, though a police investigation is currently underway into the alleged theft.

We're guessing Seacrest isn't going to be too happy if it's discovered that Julianne left the door unlocked, though we can't imagine it'll take him long to make $100,000 and buy his girlfriend a whole new set of jewels. Maybe 24 hours, if that.

Hot Tickets! US Movie Releases: 'Safe Haven' And 'A Good Day To Die Hard' Battle It Out For Worst Valentine's Weekend Movie

Josh Duhamel Julianne Hough Ryan Gosling Zac Efron Bruce Willis Emma Thompson Jeremy Irons Danny Dyer

Ah, Valentine’s Weekend. That thing that doesn’t actually exist because there’s only actually one day that’s officially attributed to Valentine’s Day but it does exist in the world of the movie box office. It’s the weekend for people who were too stingy to take their partners out of actual Valentine’s Day, because all of the prices are inflated, to schlep over to the local movie theatre, with a rose between their teeth for no good reason and treat their loved one to a terrible, terrible movie.

That’s right. Normally, we like to give our readers a few tips and pointers with regards to the upcoming box office releases for the forthcoming weekend, make a few recommendations, etc etc. Well, this week, can we simply suggest that you stay home? What we appear to have on our hands this week is the biggest collection of cinematic flops since as far back as we can remember. Or at least since last Valentine’s Weekend.

First up, if you’re still interested in learning which films you should not go to see this weekend, is Safe Haven. A woozy adaptation of yet another Nicholas Sparks novel. Yes, we loved The Notebook. Yes, OK, we admit, what we mean is we loved Ryan Gosling in The Notebook. And yes, we suppose that Zac Efron did a pretty good job in The Lucky One. But it takes more than a pretty couple (Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough) to make a successful adaptation of one of Sparks’ ever-popular tear-jerk romance novels.

High Hopes For Safe Haven On Valentine's Day, But Does It Deliver?

Julianne Hough Josh Duhamel

It’s Valentine’s Day. You need to choose a movie to take your loved one to go see at the local theatre. It’s 2013. You pretty much have a choice between the latest Bruce Willis blockbuster A Good Day To Die Hard, or Safe Haven, the latest Nicholas Sparks novel adaptation (starring Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel). Now then. You’d be forgiven for thinking that this would be an astute choice, based on past successes, with the Ryan Gosling-starring The Notebook and the Zac Efron / Taylor Schilling love drama The Lucky One. You would, however, be wrong.

Condemned by the majority of critics that have seen the latest tear-jerker from director Lasse Hallstrom (of Chocolat fame), Safe Haven doesn’t pack quite the emotional punch that it promises. A sorry case of style over substance, it seems that two beautiful lead actors do not a successful movie make. Betsy Sharkey of Los Angeles Times described the movie as being “Long on beauty shots, short on depth,” whilst Claudia Puig of USA Today offers some sage advice for anyone looking to make a last minute theatre booking today (February 14, 2013): “Safe Haven may not be the most dangerous place to spend Valentine's Day - but it's hardly a worthwhile romantic choice.” Chicago Sun-Times was far less forgiving in his unsentimental summary, writing “Either the filmmakers were out of their minds, or they must think we're out of our minds to buy into this schmaltz.

Julianne Hough And Josh Duhamel AT NYC Premiere Of Safe Haven

Julianne Hough caused a stir at the New York premiere of her latest movie Safe Haven, by opting for a dress-over-pants look, possibly inspired by a similar ensemble sported by Emma Watson not so long ago. 24 year-old Hough wore a grey dress, embroidered with flowers and with a white, 1960s-style collar, over grey trousers and with shiny silver heels.

Julianne Hough Enjoys Hollywood Safe Haven Premiere, But It Could Have Been Very Different After Dodgy First Audition

Julianne Hough Josh Duhamel

As Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel – accompanied by Black Eyed Peas star Fergue – celebrated the Hollywood premiere of their forthcoming film Safe Haven in Hollywood last night, Popsugar posted a video of the female co-star in which she admitted she felt that she’d almost screwed up her audition for the role.

The film, released on Valentine’s Day (February 14, 2013), has been directed by Lasse Hallstrom and has been adapted from the book written by Nicholas Spark. It focuses on mysterious character Kate – played by Hough – who arrives in a small American town with a dark secret and her guard up. Gradually letting her guard down after allowing herself to be led into a series of relationships – including one with Duhamel’s Alex – she is ultimately faced with the decision of whether to fully admit her past and try and overcome her secret mistake.

“There were a lot of girls that went up for Katie” Hough told Popsugar. “I had my first audition and Lasse the director wasn’t even in the room. He was on Skype in New York and I was in the room with Josh … it felt very confined because we were trying to stay in front of the iPad and it was just kind of awkward. It’s hard to have chemistry and know how his style works because he does like to improvise in the audition but he wasn’t even in the room.”

Updates From Sundance Film Festival And The London Critics' Circle Awards Plus Trailers For, Stoker, Emperor And Red 2

As the Sundance Film Festival continues in Utah, buzz is emerging about the new Nicole Kidman movie Stoker, in which she plays the widowed mother of teen Mia Wasikowska as they deal with the arrival of the unexpectedly sexy Uncle Charlie (Matthew Goode). From the director of Old Boy, a new trailer depicts the film as a stylish, warped and very black comedy. It comes to cinemas on March 1st.

Here in Britain, two leading awards contenders open this week. Steven Spielberg's Lincoln stars Daniel Day-Lewis, the front-runner in the Best Actor race. This would be his unprecedented third win in the category. And Kathryn Bigelow's Zero Dark Thirty stars Jessica Chastain, who is currently the favourite for Best Actress, although Jennifer Lawrence in Silver Linings Playbook is giving her some serious competition.

But no one should write off iconic French actress Emmanuelle Riva's astonishing turn in Amour. She won the London Critics' Circle Film Award for Best Actress on Sunday. The London critics also gave Amour their Film of the Year title, and it's up for Best Picture at the Oscars as well.

Safe Haven Trailer

When Katie Feldman flees from her city and winds up in the picturesque town of Southport in North Carolina, she is initially welcomed by the close-knit community. As much as she tries to avoid it, being more fond of her own company than others, she forms bonds with her frank but friendly neighbour Jo and the quiet, widowed shop owner Alex. Alex is immediately taken to Katie and attempts to win the guarded newcomer over by fixing her a bike so she doesn't have to walk to work; however, she is reluctant to put her trust in anybody and does what she can to avoid falling in love with him. It isn't long before she finds herself giving in and following her heart, but then almost as soon as begins to believe she's safe again, her past follows her and she is faced with answering a lot of complicated questions about why she wound up in Southport.

'Safe Haven' is an adaptation from the novel of the same name by Nicholas Sparks ('The Notebook', 'Dear John'). It is directed by Academy Award nominee Lasse Hallstrom ('The Cider House Rules', 'Chocolat'), written by Leslie Bohem ('A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Child') and Dana Stevens ('City of Angels') and from the producers of 'Twilight' and it is scheduled for release in the UK on March 1st 2013.

Taking place in Los Angeles, the ceremony was also notable for other guests including Paris Hilton, Julianne Hough, Naomi Watts and Lea Michele. The entirely fan-voted for awards saw Taylor Swift take home the Favorite Country Artist gong, though she once again found herself in a 'Kanye' situation as Olivia Munn initially refused to give her the statuette. Legendary London Stage School Denies Julianne Hough Abuse

Julianne Hough Ryan Seacrest Patsy Kensit Kelly Brook Russell Brand

Head honchos at London's foremost dance and drama school the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts have moved to distance themselves from suggestions from Hollywood star Julianne Hough that she was mentally and physically abused as a student there. The Footloose star, and girlfriend of Ryan Seacrest, told Cosmopolitan magazine that she suffered abuse as an aspiring dancer in London.

Hough claimed she was taunted at the school, saying "I was told if I ever went back to the United States, three things were going to happen. One: I was going to amount to nothing. Two: I was going to work at Whataburger. And three: I was going to end up a slut. So, it was like, I can't go back. I have to be this person." Most worryingly, Hough said the abuse got worse when she hit puberty.

The comments have prompted Academy bosses to release a statement insisting that media outlets suggesting the star was abused while studying there are wrong. It reads, "We feel this article has been extremely badly worded and if re-read, you will see that although it mentions our name, it does not say that any abuse took place here.We feel sure Julianne would herself be horrified to learn that she had caused her old school any embarrassment or harmed its good name."

Julianne Hough Reveals Painful Child Abuse

Julianne Hough

Julianne Hough - star of Dancing With The Stars - has revealed how she was abused as a child while training in London to become a dancer.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan magazine, Hough divulged the difficult truths of her time in England. "While I was in London, I was abused mentally, physically, everything," said the actress, now 24. "I was a tormented little kid who had to put on this sexy facade because that was my job and my life," she added. "But my heart was the same, and I was this innocent little girl. I wanted so much love." Hough said the abuse became worse "when I started hitting puberty, when I started becoming a woman and stopped being a little girl." In her mid-twenties, and blossoming in her own career, her story represents the minority of children who manage to escape the psychological perils of abuse in later life. "I'm a very forgiving person, and I don't want to hurt anybody," she explained. "What's past is past."

Her admission adds to an increasingly bleak picture for child abuse in London. Since the hundreds of claims made against the late Jimmy Savile, causing a widespread investigation into the practise of entertainment institutions with regards to the safety of children.

Rock Of Ages Review

Very Good
This raucous trawl through 80s power ballads, rock anthems and gigantic hair is a lot of fun, partly because it throws so many big stars into against-type roles in which they get to sing and dance. But the plot couldn't be any thinner or it wouldn't exist at all.

Small-town girl Sherrie (Hough) takes the bus to 1987 Hollywood to become a rock star. There she meets Drew (Boneta), who has the same dream and works in the famed Bourbon Room on the Sunset Strip. He convinces the owner (Baldwin) to hire her as a barmaid just as diva-rocker Stacee Jaxx (Cruise) comes to play a major gig. Buzzing around him are a Rolling Stone journalist (Akerman) wanting an interview and a right-winger (Zeta-Jones) trying to protect the children from the evils of rock-n-roll.

Very Good
A surprisingly faithful remake of the iconic 1984 hit, this crowd-pleasing romp finds some intriguing present-day resonance without pushing it too hard.

Instead, it centres on the interpersonal drama and exhilarating dance moves.

After his mother dies, Boston teen Ren (Wormald) moves to small-town Bomont to live with his aunt and uncle (Dickens and McKinnon). Teens here are prohibited from dancing due to a tragedy three years earlier, so Ren is soon at loggerheads with the local minister (Quaid), whose daughter Ariel (Hough) is a wild child with a redneck boyfriend (Flueger) and an eye for Ren. As Ren deals with his own issues, he teams up with new friends Willard and Woody (Teller and Blain) to take on the system.

Very Good
It's difficult to imagine a more outrageously camp movie than this glittery romp, and fortunately there's a sense that the cast and crew understand this.

By never taking their ludicrous plot seriously, they've made a true guilty pleasure.

Fed up with dead-end Iowa, Ali (Aguilera) heads for Hollywood. Despite having no experience or training, she's sure she can make it as a singer-dancer. After a series of rejections, she stumbles upon the Burlesque Lounge on Sunset, run by jaded diva Tess (Cher) with the help of her long-suffering buddy Sean (Tucci). Ali charms sexy barman Jack (Gigandet) into a barmaid job, while keeping her sights on the stage. And she's also wooed by Marcus (Dane), a developer who's trying to buy the financially strapped club.
