The performer passed away from complications of pneumonia on Saturday (30May15) in Los Angeles, according to the New York Times.

Bailey was best known for performing in drag as several celebrities, including Barbra Streisand, Judy Garland, Peggy Lee, Phyllis Diller and Bette Davis.

He was featured on a variety of U.S. TV shows in the 1970s and 1980s, including The Ed Sullivan Show, The Dean Martin Show, The Carol Burnett Show, The Tonight Show and The Merv Griffin Show, and played a transsexual in a 1985 episode of sitcom Night Court.

Bailey also performed at clubs and venues like New York's Carnegie Hall and Britain's London Palladium and hit the stage in 1973 with Garland's daughter, Liza Minnelli, for a mother-daughter act at the Flamingo in Las Vegas.
