Recent interviews with Josh Hutcherson, one of the stars of Journey 2: The Mysterious Island have stuck with light-hearted subject matter. Kidz World got him to divulge his dislike of the "nine million ants" that he encountered during the filming of the movie and NY Magazine glossed over the movie briefly to focus on his CV entry that's really getting film lovers excited (Hunger Games). In a recent video interview with ELLE, the final edit doesn't mention Journey 2 at all.

Given the critical response to Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, it's hardly any wonder that Hutcherson has been focusing on Hunger Games in interviews, of late. With Time magazine's Mary F. Pois brandishing the film "Blithely idiotic," Hutcherson may well be hoping to brush this one under the carpet. Melissa Anderson, writing for the Village Voice, was equally dismissive, particularly of the script, writing that "screenwriters Brian and Mark Gunn still have trouble scripting action sequences or dialogue that rises above 'Let's do this' level. And the condemnation continues in the New York Times, which slams its "tedious family dynamic."

It isn't all bad news, though. Peter Bradshaw of The Guardian decided to give the film a break, calling it "thoroughly daft and entertaining" and USA Today's Claudia Puig says the movie is a "rare escapist treat." Journey 2" The Mysterious Island stars Michael Caine, Dwayne Johnson and Vanessa Hudgens as well as Josh Hutcherson and is released in US cinemas today (February 10, 2012)
