London Town, which is set in the British capital in the 1970s, follows a 14-year-old boy whose life is forever changed after his estranged mother introduces him to Strummer's music.

Production is currently underway in London, with The Joneses filmmaker Derrick Borte directing from a script by Kirsten Sheridan, Sonya Gildea and Matthew Brown.

The drama, which co-stars Dougray Scott and Natascha MCElhone, is reportedly set to feature some of The Clash's biggest hits after producers managed to secure the rights to the tunes, according to

The film is Meyers' first project since he suffered a relapse in his long-running battle with alcohol in May (15), when he was pictured looking bleary-eyed and dishevelled as he swigged from a bottle of vodka on a London street.

He subsequently issued a public apology over the "minor" booze setback, and assured fans he has quit drinking once again with the support of his rumoured fiancee Mara Lane.
