In what is really our first news about the upcoming Star Wars re-boot in a while (we were promised regular rumours!), it looks as though the film may have its first star.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers is apparently being courted by Disney and Lucasfilm , with a report from Latino Review suggesting that the star of the upcoming Dracula series on NBC is being lined up as one of the stars of the movie. According to the online publication, the Star Wars producers have been in talks with the co-star of another movie franchise for a while now, which it later revealed to be Meyers. The actor has previously worked alongside Abrams in Mission: Impossible III and has consequently built up a rapport with the director, supposedly, who is keen to work with the actor again.

Apparently Meyers' name was thrown about extensively when the list of potential candidates to star in the film was being made, with the actor now supposedly committing to the film. So far, we have it confirmed that Jj Abrams will be stepping behind the camera to direct the Michael Arndt-penned script. We also know that three of the stars of the original trilogy, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford, are all due to appear in the first film at least. Everything other than that at this point is purely rumour.

Whilst his part in Star Wars still carries a degree of uncertainty, Rhys Meyers will definitely be staring in upcoming Dracula series on NBC, as well as the films The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (with Lena Headey and Lily Collins) and the thriller Panda Eyes (with Sophie Turner and Rhys Ifans).
