Jon Hamm has revealed his wax mannequin at Madame Tussauds mere days after he discussed the humble – and slightly scandalous – origins of his own career dressing sets for soft-core porn films.
Jon Hamm has come a long way since the mid-90s when he spent his days dressing the sets for soft-core porn movies! He was in London yesterday (Saturday 10th May) unveiling the wax mannequin of his likeness but his interview in June’s Vanity Fair shows fame has definitely not gone to the Mad Men actor’s head as Hamm remembered his humble beginnings in acting.

Hamm revealed, during the beginnings of his career nearly twenty years ago, he was forced to work on soft-core porn movies. After footage in which Hamm appeared on the dating show, creatively entitled The Big Date, he discussed his life at the time in Vanity Fair. In the interview, Hamm said "I was actually at that time working as a set dresser for Cinemax soft-core-porn movies,” adding “It was soul-crushing."
This appears to be one of the reasons Hamm so enjoys working on Mad Men as Don Draper. In the interview, he said "This is the best job I've ever had and maybe ever will have in my life—it's so fun to play all of this," Nevertheless, it’s not all fun and games being a 1950s advertising executive as he said "It can be relentlessly dark. It can be terribly sexually inappropriate, is a way to say it. But who else gets a chance to do any of that stuff? There's so much there."
Hamm recently appeared at Madame Tussauds in London where he saw the unveiling of his very own wax mannequin. The Mad Men actor couldn’t resist taking a selfie, standing next to his similarly dressed model. As Fox reports, Hamm joked about the mannequin’s matching grey suit, telling reporters “This is happenstance, but it is kind of crazy how kind of identical we decided to dress. I’m referring to him [the mannequin] as a human being as if he dressed himself.”
The 43-year-old actor is currently on a publicity tour for his soon-to-be-released movie, Million Dollar Arm. The film tells the true story of J.B. Bernstein, a sports talent scout, who discovered two talented baseball pitchers, Rinku Singh and Dinesh patel, whilst in India. The film is due to be released in the US on May 16th and August 29th in the UK.
