Jon B releases ‘Lately’ from his new album ‘Stronger Everyday’. Judging by this single Jon B is set to do big things in the r’n’b world. It seems all the right influences are coming through on this track from 80’s soul music, to the music of Babyface and modern progressive r’n’b beats. The samples seem pretty original and add a lot of weight in the background of the music. There is a lot going on from nice hip hop breaks to keyboard sounds that are cleverly
arranged to make sense of the track. Jon B is a good singer who adds sweet soul on the track and the backing is very effective. There’s other remixes on this single that all have style and individuality and would fit well in most r’n’b sets. A good introduction to the album.
