Johnny Depp and more return for 'Pirates of the Caribbean 5'.
Jack Sparrow's latest adventure 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge' is on the way; the fifth installment of the nautical Disney franchise that was previously named 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales'. Expect some exciting new characters and welcome old ones.
Johnny Depp returns as Jack Sparrow in 'Pirates of the Caribbean 5'
Joining Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp and his crew (including the likes of Gibbs and Barbossa, played by Kevin McNally and Geoffrey Rush respectively) is a new character who everyone will recognise - though not from the big screen. Paul McCartney will make a cameo in an as yet unknown role, marking his feature film acting debut. Such an addition is reminiscent of Rolling Stones' Keith Richards, who portrayed Sparrow's father Captain Edward Teague in 'At World's End' and 'On Stranger Tides'.
Geoffrey Rush reprises his role of Barbossa in 'Pirates of the Caribbean 5'
The new villain of the story will, of course, be Captain Salazar played by Javier Bardem (following in the footsteps of wife Penelope Cruz). He's the leader of the latest cursed pirate crew who have been trapped in the Devil's Triangle (also known as the Bermuda Triangle) for many years but now returns to exact revenge on Sparrow and indeed every pirate in every ocean. The only way Jack Sparrow can stop him is by procuring the Trident of Poseidon before Salazar does, and thus have the power to send him back to his watery grave.

Plus, he'll be killing two birds with one stone because the crew of the Black Pearl haven't found any treasure in ages. They may also have the help of an old friend it seems; Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) makes a return after being bound to the Flying Dutchman and forced to sail as its captain for ten years. Another new addition to the cast, Brenton Thwaites, plays a young man named Henry who is searching for his father. And we're sure he's the teenage son of Will and his wife Elizabeth Turner (nee Swan). Meanwhile, Kaya Scodelario plays the token female character Carina Smyth; an astronomer who will no doubt aid Jack in his search for the mighty Trident.
Javier Bardem is the villainous Salazar in 'Pirates of the Caribbean 5'
At the helm of 'Salazar's Revenge' are directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg ('Kon-Tiki', 'Marco Polo', 'Max Manus: Man of War'), while the BAFTA nominated Jeff Nathanson ('Catch Me If You Can', 'Rush Hour 3') has written the screenplay from a story conceived alongside franchise regular Terry Rossio. The movie also marks the departure of composer Hans Zimmer, and instead we have an all new score from Primetime Emmy winning Geoff Zanelli ('Secret Window', 'Disturbia', 'Into The West').
'Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge' will be released in theatres on May 26th 2017.
