Legendary Hollywood actor-turned-director Jodie Foster is set to direct an episode of Charlie Brooker’s series ‘Black Mirror’ on Netflix for its next season.

The two-time Oscar winner, famous for her role in The Silence of the Lambs among many others, will get behind the camera for an episode of the satirical dystopian series for an episode that will be released in 2017.

Foster’s episode will also feature former ‘Mad Men’ actress Rosemarie DeWitt, currently a star of the critically acclaimed movie La La Land.

‘Black Mirror’s creator and scriptwriter Brooker confirmed the news himself via Twitter, adding to a link he re-posted from Variety that reported the rumour on Wednesday evening, saying: “This is true”.

Foster, who rocketed to fame with her controversial role in the seventies in classic movie Taxi Driver, started her career in directing back in 1991 with Little Man Tate, and has intensified her work behind the camera by directing The Beaver and Money Monster since 2011, as well as episodes of ‘Orange Is the New Black’ and ‘House of Cards’.

The news comes as Brooker’s series is just hours away from unveiling its most star-studded season yet, with the critically-lauded and popular show having moved away from Channel 4 at the end of last year.

‘Game of Thrones’ star Jerome Flynn, Kelly MacDonald, James Norton and Bryce Dallas Howard are among the established names making appearances in the imminently arriving third series of ‘Black Mirror’, available on Netflix from Friday (October 21st), which consists of six brand-new episodes with a further six to arrive in 2017.
