Jodie Foster has spoken out against President Donald Trump’s travel ban at a pre-Oscars rally in Los Angeles.

The United Voices Rally was held by the United Talent Agency, in place of their usual pre-Oscars party, with the aim to “express the creative community’s support for freedom of speech and artistic expression and stand against policies of exclusion and division”.

It was a case of mistaken celebrity identity for Helen Hunt on Monday morning when she ordered a drink in Starbucks. Taking to twitter, the actress told her followers how a Starbucks barista had mistaken her for fellow Oscar winner Jodie Foster, someone who Hunt is well used to being confused with.

Jodie Foster has revealed that she was too scared of her co-star Anthony Hopkins to speak to him on the Silence Of The Lambs set. Appearing on ‘The Graham Norton Show’, Foster said that after seeing Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter during the first day read through, the actor had scared her so much that she didn't want to talk to him again.

Jodie Foster has revealed she was terrified of Silence of the Lambs co-star Anthony Hopkins.

“I never spoke to him because he was so scary,” Foster told Norton. “The first day we had a read through and by the end of it I never wanted to talk to him again – I was petrified.”

Jodie Foster says the combination of real drama and meaningful action were what drew her to the project. "When I first read it, it was a really cool satire," she says. "It evolved from there. We spent a couple of years developing the screenplay, bringing in technology, the financial world right now, media and how all of those things dovetail. That changed everything."

She calls it the kind of movie studios rarely make anymore, and she says that's what makes it feel fresh. "It goes back to the old-school way of doing things," Foster says. "There are lots of turns that are unexpected. It's a general-public movie that's a taut thriller. I think you have an idea of what that's going to be, with big movie stars, but I just wanted to make the movie I wanted to make."

Money Monster director Jodie Foster has commented on the gender wage gap in Hollywood, saying that it’s a valid issue but that she tries to not let it rile her up in her approach to her work.

“In terms of pay, it’s hard for me to get interested in millionaires worried about who gets paid more,” Foster said, explaining that the market effectively dictates what an actor or actress will make on a project and that the main factor for studios as they negotiate pay is risk.

Ellen Page came out as gay on Friday (14th February). The X-Men and Juno actress made the announcement in a speech at the Time to Thrive conference held in support of LGBT youth. Page is not the only actor to have come out as gay, here's a rundown of 5 women in the television and film industry who have publically come out.

Does Jodie Foster have a new paramour? The 50-year-old was spotted having a quiet lunch with possible girlfriend Alexandra Hedison. Although the brunch date seemed an informal affair with the pair wearing loose trousers, t-shirts and sandals, yet despite the possible couple's casual attire, they appeared "close and intimate" according to Us Weekly.

This would certainly corroborate what the sources have to say on the matter. E!'s sources claim Foster and Hedison are "total in love." There have been rumours that the couple are living together. This would certainly make sense when one considers Hedison's decision to sell her two bedroomed Laurel Canyon home on 13 Septemer. The two were photographed by paparazzi on Sunday (6 Oct.) in Hollywood.

Hollywood actress Jamie Lee Curtis was involved a serious car accident on Thursday (August 1, 2013) and taken to a hospital in an ambulance.

The star of True Lies was travelling as the passenger in a black Yukon SUV in Venice, CA, when the driver collided with a BMW. Two people, including Curtis, were taken to ER in two separate ambulances, according to TMZ.com. 

The actress' injuries were minor and she was swiftly released and told to rest at home. The other person involved unfortunately suffered far greater injuries.

The annual list of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people is being published this week, previewed today (April 18, 2013) on USA Today. This year, the magazine will be publishing seven different covers, each with a different person on the front. On the domestic issues, Jennifer Lawrence, Jay-Z, Elon Musk (CEO and founder, SpaceX; co-founder, Tesla Motors and PayPal), Sen. Rand Paul and teen activist Malala Yousafzai each landed a slot, whilst the international covers were split between Aamit Khan and Li Na.

Each of the people on the list is profiled by another celebrity or well-known figure. Jodie Foster wrote about Jennifer Lawrence, saying “You'll remember where you were when you first felt it, how you were stuck to one spot like a small animal considering its end. The Jennifer Lawrence Stare. It cuts a searing swath in your gut. A reckoning. I remember going to the cutting rooms of Winter's Bone. I thought, Sure, this girl can act. But, man, this girl can also just be." The comic actress Mindy Kaling was profiled by her Office co-star Ed Helms, who said “Mindy Kaling embodies the trifecta of being brilliant, wonderful and hilarious. Because that is statistically impossible, it can mean only one thing: she was created by an evil scientist to lull us into a giddy stupor in order to control our minds. … To be made fun of by Mindy is to feel special. I've learned so much from working alongside her, and I'm proud to call her a friend. I just wish she hadn't been created by an evil scientist.”

The US president Barack Obama was included on the list for the eighth time – that’s more than any other person currently on the list. 35 women were included on this year’s list.

Jodie Foster's incredible, if not slightly cryptic speech at The Golden Globes, has inspired people to be true to themselves and come out to their friends and family, but just as strangely as Foster chose to. 

"Jodie Foster is being hailed as a possibly gay icon after kind of coming out during a speech at the Golden Globe Awards," The Onion reported. "The actress has become a role model to LGBT youth who are taking her lead by also giving moving but confusing coming out speeches to their friends and family." A young man in a YouTube clip is seen saying: "I have to be honest and say something that's been on my mind. And you already know it, so there it is." Foster's speech has also given rise to an awareness project for young people titled 'We are all single, just kidding, but seriously, I am together, in this room'.

Foster's denial that she's quitting the game (the acting and directing game, that is) has inspired Kristen Stewart to work with her old friend. Her buddy according to Entertainmentwise said: "Kristen knows she has a lot to learn still as an actor and obviously as a director. She's interested in possibly directing one day, and wants to learn from the best. To her, Jodie is the best. She has always been such a dear friend to Kristen," adding:  "Kristen has always admired Jodie's sense of integrity and authenticity."

"Jodie Foster comes out!" were the cries from the entertainment press following the actress' Golden Globes speech on Sunday (January 13, 2013) during which she cleared up any ambiguity surrounding her sexuality and made a heartfelt plea for privacy in Hollywood. Foster - who was accepting the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Beverly Hilton Hotel - told the star-studded audience, "I already did my big coming out about a thousand years ago in the stone age, in those very quaint days when a fragile young girl would open up to trusted friends, and family, co-workers and then gradually, proudly, to everyone who knew her."

"If you had been a public figure since the time you were a toddler, if you had to fight for a life that felt real and honest and normal against all odds, then maybe you too would value privacy above all else," she added. Ok, so everyone applauded Foster's openness (several audience members even cried), though after a long and distinguished career, is the 50-year-old still considered amongst Hollywood's premier band of leading ladies? Quiz anyone on their favourite Jodie Foster movie and the answer will invariably be Taxi Driver, The Accused or Silence of the Lambs, the latest of which hit cinemas in 1991. Ok, so there's been a couple of good movies since - most notably Panic Room (2006) and Inside Man (2006) - though shouldn't a two-time Oscar winner have been offered stronger roles in the supposed peak years of her career? Perhaps Foster still has award-winning roles ahead of her, ala Meryl Steep, Helen Mirren and Glenn Close. 

A recent directorial foray with The Beaver didn't turn out well. Although the comedy-drama had an interesting premise, Mel Gibson's central performance was panned by critics. The Guardian's Peter Bradshaw said, "Contrived, self-admiring and self-pitying, unfunny, burdened with a central performance which is unendurably conceited and charmless." Perhaps things will turn around for Foster with Elysium, District 9 director Neill Blomkamp's forthcoming sci-fi set in the year 2159, where the very wealthy live on a man-made space station while the rest of the population reside on a ruined earth. Sounds a reasonable enough sci-fi offering, though something in the script has attracted Matt Damon to play the lead role of Max. Foster will play a government official.

At the age of just 49, Jodie Foster has a career spanning 46 years. It is partly due to this incredible longevity that she will be receiving the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globe Awards next year. Of course, her talent, range and dedication, alongside this longevity, make her the obvious recipient for next year's awards. She's also the youngest person to win the award since 1967 when Charlton Heston won it aged just 43, and she's also only the twelfth woman to ever receive the award since its conception in 1952.

The news was revealed by Twilight's Kristen Strewart and The Mentalist's Simon Baker, at the Beverly Hills Hotel this morning (1st Nov 2012). Reported by CBS, Aida Takla O'Reilly, from The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, said "Jodie is a multifaceted woman that has achieved immeasurable amounts of success and will continue to do so in her career. Her ambition, exuberance and grace have helped pave the way for budding artists in this business." 

Foster's filmography is more than impressive and sees her star in a drastic range of roles, from the pre-pubescent prostite Iris, in 1979's Taxi Driver, to Clarice Stirling in the chilling movie Silence of the Lambs, for which she won the Oscar for 'Best Actress' at the Academy Awards, just three years after winning it for The Accused. She has also directed and produced a variety of films, all of which adds to her impressive portfolio of work.
