Melissa Rivers settled the lawsuit against Yorkville Endoscopy for a reported eight-figure sum.
The daughter of the late Joan Rivers has settled a medical malpractice lawsuit against the New York City clinic blamed for her mother’s death in 2014, for a sum reported to be eight figures.
Melissa Rivers filed the suit against Yorkville Endoscopy in January 2015, after her mother lost consciousness during a routine throat operation at the clinic in August 2014. She was rushed to hospital and placed on life support, but didn’t regain consciousness before passing away a week later at the age of 81.
A source told gossip site TMZ that the figure reached in the settlement was in eight figures, but the precise amount was not disclosed.
The daughter of the iconic comedienne said her mother "was willing to say what others were thinking and too frightened to admit," while speaking about her passing for the first time at The Hollywood Reporter's Women in Entertainment Breakfast.
Since Her Death It has been three months since the sudden and tragic death of iconic comedienne Joan Rivers, and on Wednesday (Dec 10th), her daughter Melissa finally commented on her passing for the first time during an emotional speech.
Melissa with her late mother in March 2013
While attending The Hollywood Reporter's Women in Entertainment Breakfast in Los Angeles, Melissa called her late mother "fearless" when speaking with the audience about what made her late mother such successful star.
But the show will no longer be weekly, instead only airing during awards season.
It seems that Kathy Griffin may have finally decided to sign on as the new host of E!’s ‘Fashion Police’. TMZ are reporting that the flame haired comedian has now been confirmed as the show’s new host, replacing the late Joan Rivers.
Is Kathy Griffin the new host of 'Fashion Police'?
According to the site, River’s daughter Melissa, who also serves as the series’ producer, will be joining Kathy along with returning co-hosts Giuliana Rancic and Kelly Osbourne. However it is still unclear as to whether fellow co-host George Kotsiopoulos will also stay on.
We’re expecting plenty of boardroom drama this season…
Donald Trump has revealed the latest crop of famous faces hoping to avoid a firing on this season’s ‘Celebrity Apprentice’. Trump had previously said that he'd "never had a cast that hated each other more than this cast,” which of course means drama, drama, drama. So who are the unlucky 16 stepping into the boardroom this season?
Who will Donald Trump be firing this season?
First up is reality TV veteran Kate Gosselin (remember her?), who first came to notoriety with the series ‘Jon & Kate Plus 8’. Now divorced from Jon, Kate has also appeared on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and ‘Celebrity Wife Swap’.
Someone on the admin team of the late comedian’s Facebook may want to check the scheduled posts.
On Friday (September 19th) fans of Joan Rivers were left puzzled after the late comedian appeared to post an endorsement for Apple’s new iPhone 6 on her Facebook page.
Accompanied by a picture of an iPhone 4, the post read, "This badass is being replaced by an iPhone 6 (not the fat one). I got this one in 2010 and after 4 years, my only complaint is that apps are now designed for bigger screens, and the battery is getting tired. Never had a case for it, since it was most beautiful on its own. Great achievement in design. Great product. #apple #iphone #tech.”

Joan Rivers' rep has called a supposed final recording of the star a fake.
Judy Katz, a longtime friend and publicist for Joan Rivers, has hit out at a supposed final recording of the late commedienne, blasting it as a opportunistic fake.
Rivers was a friend of Brad Zimmerman
The NY Daily News reports that the recording, supposedly produced to promote Brad Zimmerman's upcoming Off-Broadway show, "My Son the Waiter, a Jewish Tragedy" is a hoax. "The recording is a fraud. Joan never made any such tape," Katz told the publication. "This is a publicity stunt that was created by Brad Zimmerman and his public relations representative, Beck Lee, and is wholly disrespectful to the memory of Joan Rivers."
An unlicensed physician allegedly performed a biopsy on Rivers' throat and took a selfie photo in the procedure room beforehand.
The inquest into the death of legendary comedienne Joan Rivers has uncovered the suspicion of improper procedures and unethical behaviour. It has been alleged that the hospital in which she was taken ill a week before her death allowed an unlicensed doctor to perform an unauthorised medical procedure on the 81-year-old star, CNN reported.
An improperly authorised medical procedure was performed on Joan Rivers, according to allegations.
Even though the doctor in question was Rivers’ personal ear-throat-nose physician, a biopsy that he performed on her vocal cords, presumably to discover the origin of the throat complaint that had led her to be there in the first place, was done so without Rivers’ prior consent.

I don’t want a eulogy; I want Bobby Vinton to pick up my head and sing ‘Mr. Lonely.’ I want to look gorgeous, better dead than I do alive. Khloe Kardashian at the NBC Upfronts on Thursday.
Kardashian and Rivers both appeared at the same event, the NBC Upfronts in Los Angeles on Thursday (May 15th). Rivers was allegedly meant to be sat next to Kardashian but was mysteriously moved at the last minute, as Us Weekly reports. Sources claims Kardashian requested 80-year-old Rivers be moved to another seat.
Did the comedienne go too far this time?
People are once again outraged at something Joan Rivers said – what else is new? The 80-year-old comedienne tried to make a joke about the lack of space in her Malibu pad – except for some reason she decided it would be appropriate to make it at the expense of Ariel Castro’s victims. According to Rivers, the three women who were held against their will for a decade and repeatedly raped and abused, “had more space” and “got to live rent-free for more than a decade”. The shock comedienne made the original inflammatory comment during her appearance on the Today show on Tuesday.
Rivers doesn't see what the big deal is.
Then on Wednesday, speaking to TMZ, she dove even deeper into the controversy. “They got to live rent free for more than a decade,” a defiant 80-year-old Rivers told TMZ on Wednesday.
This doesn't even qualify as a feud anymore.
As much as it pains us to say it because we frankly prefer to think of Jennifer Lawrence as a magical, peace-bringing unicorn, the actress’ so-called “feud” with Joan Rivers continues. It continues on Rivers’ part anyway. A month after she and Lawrence had it out over the commedienne’s show Fashion Police, which essentially consists of her scrutinizing famous people’s hair, makeup, outfits and bodies for an hour every week, Rivers has issued another scathing comment, directed at the 23-year-old actress.
Apparently there's still at least one person left, who is not a fan of Lawrence.
Apparently in response to Lawrence’s recent statements on fat shaming in the media, Rivers said for the New York Post: “I love that she's telling everyone how wrong it is to worry about retouching and body image, and meanwhile, she has been touched up more than a choir boy at the Vatican. Look at her posters.”
One lesson we can all take from these celebrities: once you put it on the internet, it's out there forever.
Despite her Twitter apology, Peaches Geldof is still in hot water for tweeting the names of two mothers, whose babies were involved in abuse by disgraced rock star Ian Watkins. The daughter of Bob Geldof apologized and explained that she had assumed the names were already public knowledge, however she is still under investigation, according to the Daily Mail. The concern was that her tweets could expose the two children, who were granted lifelong anonymity by a court order, after their mothers had allowed Watkins to abuse them.
Peaches apologised profusely for the comment, but these are some tweets that may come back to haunt her.
While information on the case mostly ends here (save for the few tweets by the socialite herself), this isn’t the first time that social media has gotten the better out of a celebrity. Luckily, most of the time some Twitter TMI is only likely to provide some fodder for the gossip websites, rather than have real-world consequences. So with that in mind, let’s lighten the mood a little at take a look at some of the most embarrassing celebrity tweets.

Joan Rivers has lampooned Adele's weight, not for the first time, during an online chat with Huffington Post.
Joan Rivers may be nearing 80 and is probably made predominately of plastic now, but that still hasn't stopped her from regularly speaking her mind in a bid to knock people down a peg or two. Joan Rivers, a well-known comedienne and plastic surgery enthusiast, has slammed Robert Redford for his "obvious" cosmetic work.
Plastic surgery can be a bit of a dodgy subject in the celebrity world. Some like to indulge in staving off the steady effects of time. Others think that it is probably best to avoid having surgeons remodelling their face. Others still, have been so well acquainted with the idea of face-lifts, they feel the need to comment on the work done on colleagues, as is the case here, with long-time plastic surgery aficionado Joan Rivers has spoken out against Robert Redford's recent facial work.
Joan Rivers has been a plastic surgery enthusiast for years.
Comedienne Joan Rivers has seen Redford as a victim of a specifically bad face-lift, saying that the "obvious" cosmetic work done on the 'Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid' actor was of no benefit. The 72-year-old comedienne spoke to The Scoop, explaining her thoughts on the surgery, saying: "Robert Redford had such a bad job. God, whoever did him should be ashamed - or maybe he left it too long so it's much more obvious."

Set in an absurd, patronizing fantasy world in which flag-waving citizens line the streets to see the president's kid off to college and angry political protesters share the red-carpet sidelines at black-tie events with shallow reporters asking stupid questions, "First Daughter" could well be the most hackneyed and insipid movie of 2004.
Failing to achieve even the shrug-worth mediocrity of January's similarly plotted "Chasing Liberty" (with Mandy Moore), this gimmick-driven disaster drags star Katie Holmes down with it as Samantha Mackenzie, the sheltered, personality-free offspring of a controversial commander-in-chief (an unconvincing, completely vanilla Michael Keaton), who falls in love with a cute Secret Service agent (an even blander Marc Blucas) posing as a student in her dorm.
Although introduced in the manner of a fairytale, the film's rampant lack of authenticity is simply insurmountable. Samantha's bodyguards constantly hover three feet behind her -- even in class and while she's alone in the dorm's TV room. The girl is never once shown doing anything that even remotely resembles studying, yet as she's egged on by a soundtrack of flutes and twinkling triangles, she proclaims her determination to have a normal coed experience. In pursuit of it, she sneaks out on dates with that charming classmate she doesn't know is an undercover agent -- that is until he blows his secret identity by rescuing her during one of many security breaches so impossibly contrived that the Secret Service should sue 20th Century Fox for defamation of character.
