In January (15), the former Take That singer applied for planning permission to update his $28 million (£17.5 million) mansion in west London with an expensive basement extension.

Led Zeppelin legend Page subsequently recruited a team of architects and structural engineers to back up his claims that the renovation work will damage his neighbouring home, and he wrote a letter to planning officials expressing his concerns.

It appeared Page had won the battle when Williams withdrew the plans last month (Mar15) but the pop star just scaled down his proposal and re-filed the application a few weeks later.

In the new documents, Williams requests permission for floors to be lowered, some interior walls to be knocked down and for his garage to be demolished and rebuilt.
