“Jimmy Fallon is simply the best that there is, the most versatile star of a show anywhere in television in my opinion,” Greenblatt said, as Entertainment Weekly reports. “The Tonight Show has always been an institution, but he’s remade it into a destination for the largest audience anywhere in late night. He’s the face of NBC in a lot of ways and we’re thrilled he’s going to be hosting The Tonight Show for many years to come.”

Fallon is certainly popular with audiences and has changed the format of the show, adding his own personal touches such as a new band and celebrity games. His popularity is reflected in the show’s ratings as the show averages 3.8 million viewers (2014-2015 season).

Fallon has hosted The Tonight Show since February 2014, taking over from Jay Leno. He was previously a feature on late night talk shows, having hosted The Late Show from 2009 until 2014 and appearing on Saturday Night Live between 1998 and 2004.

In other Fallon news, the 40-year-old recently suffered a horrendous injury in which he nearly lost his finger. He had to take some time off to recover but is still wearing a pot over his hand.
