Jessie J Believes Musicians Can 'create A Feeling In Three Minutes'

Jessie J Ariana Grande

Jessie J believes musicians can ''create a feeling in three minutes''.

The 28-year-old singer claims certain artists have the ability to put their feelings into a track and transport the listener to a certain place, or help them experience an emotion they've wanted to feel for their ''lifetime'' with one single song.

And the 'Bang Bang' hitmaker has credited Ariana Grande with that skill.

Ice Age: Collision Course Review

Good

With its fifth feature-length adventure, this franchise continues its preposterous journey at full tilt. As before, it's the zippy writing, lively vocal work and colourful animation that hold the interest. The story is merely a framework on which the cast and crew can hang a series of rapid-fire jokes, pop culture references and nonsensical action sequences. And it's still mindless fun.

After their previous escapades, the expanding herd of prehistoric critters is living a happy life together, thinking about love. Mammoths Manny and Ellis (voiced by Ray Romano and Queen Latifah) are struggling with the idea that their daughter Peaches (Keke Palmer) has fallen for the too-cheerful Julius (Adam Devine). Sid the sloth (John Leguizamo) has just been dumped and feels like he'll never find a partner. And tigers Diego and Shira (Denis Leary and Jennifer Lopez) worry that their violent nature will make them terrible parents. Then suddenly there's a bigger issue to worry about: a giant asteroid is heading for Earth, threatening them with extinction. With the help of nutty weasel Buck (Simon Pegg), they come up with an idea to save the planet. They also discover a magical place called Geotopia, ruled by the groovy Shangri Llama (Jesse Tyler Ferguson).

Yes, the plot is utterly insane, especially as it is driven by the antics of franchise star Scrat, who discovers a flying saucer in the ice, activates it and heads into space, where his acorn-hunting antics trigger all sorts of mayhem back on Earth. But then this series has never had anything to do with science or biology, throwing random animals together (the dinosaurs make another appearance) for comical value while cranking up whatever suspense the writers can think of to add some momentum. They also of course pack scenes with sweet "family values" moments, plus a sideswipe at climate change deniers who refuse to acknowledge the possibility of impending doom.

Jessie J Frustrated At Low Profile In Britain

British pop singer Jessie J has expressed dismay that her music isn’t as widely celebrated in her own country as it is in America.

It also makes her “sad” that she wasn’t asked to perform at this year’s Brit Awards – or indeed, at any previous ceremonies – despite the fact she won the Critics’ Choice Award back in 2011 and has played at the Grammys and the MTV Video Music Awards.

Jessie J No Longer Bisexual, But Is Sexuality So Easily Switched?

Jessie J Amber Heard

We’ve got to admit, when young female celebrities admit that they are bisexual, we immediately raise an eyebrow. Sexuality is, of course, each individual’s prerogative, it makes no difference to anybody’s ability to do their job, live their life, treat other people respectfully and so on. As a concept invented roughly 2000 years ago, sexuality should be recognised for what it truly is - a dated idea that should hold no influence in modern society.

Jessie J bisexual Jessie J is no longer bisexual, wants a husband

Over the past few years admitting to being bisexual has become the sort of ‘in-thing’ in the celebrity world. Female celebrities may feel it makes them sound more alluring, more mysterious to have an ambiguous sexual preference. Perhaps they believe that if the public assumes that they do the nasty with both men and women it gives them an extra edge, makes them sound more dangerous, more desirable. Of course, they may truly swing both wells, in which case, fantastic, carry on the swinging.  From Megan Fox to Johnny Depp’s fiancé Amber Heard, it seems there’s rarely a heterosexual star to be found.

First Concert From Jessie J's Mini-Arena Tour Goes Nearly Without A Hitch

Jessie J

Jessie J has been having an unpleasant couple of years – a postponed tour and losing her position on the X Factor judging panel (due to excessive theatrics, if the rumors are true) added to the poor sales of her second album Alive (chart entry #3), mean that the once A List pop star is quickly losing ground. There were still the O2 Arena gigs to look forward to, however and judging Jessie on her performing skill seems fairer than, say on the arbitrary measure of her reality show engagement.

It hasn't been an easy two years for the musician, who seems to be slipping from the American market.

Despite an initial glitch, which started off the show with an unlit stage, the stage design and production were certainly a thing to behold, according to the Financial Times. The lighting, particularly during the emotional “Who You Are” was also top notch.

Kylie Minogue remains one of the biggest names in pop music today, with a back catalogue that most modern day pop starlets could only dream of for their future output. Her credentials as a pop artist need no justifying, however her credentials as a presence on television will be seriously tested when she begins her new job sitting alongside Tom Jones, Will.i.am and whoever is brought in to replace the departing Danny O'Donoghue. She is my all means a much more popular entertainer compared to Jessie, and probably more so than some of the men that she is joining, but she enters the BBC series as an inexperienced TV presenter and may struggle to assert any kind of personality and endear herself to the audience. Either that, or she'll be a massive success and be loved by all.

Why Jessie J Leaving 'The Voice' Is Bad News For The Beeb

Jessie J Danny O'Donoghue Tom Jones Will.i.am

Jessie J is to leave her role as coach on BBC1's reality singing contest The Voice, blaming overseas touring and promotional commitments for her new record. In fairness, the BBC was lucky to hang on to the pop-star for its second season after she delayed committing to the show following Leanne Mitchell's surprising win.

The corporation - which has already announced a third season of the show - said it was "so sorry" to see her go. You bet they were. Though Jessie J is often considered a polarising figure in music circles - perhaps for her wacky idiosyncrasies and the fact she tells contestants how it is to be a woman in the music industry ever week - she is absolutely key to The Voice's target audiences. She came to prominence with her debut single 'Do It Like a Dude' though it was the smash-hit 'Price Tag' that catapulted her to global fame - the catchy track topping the charts in nineteen countries including the United Kingdom, New Zealand and France. Her debut album Who You Are sold 2.5 copies and fifth single Domino broke into the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US - no mean feat for a British pop artist.

The Voice Winner Andrea Begley Lobbies For Disabled Peoples' Experience At Gigs

The partially sighted winner of 2013's singing talent show The Voice, Andrea Begley, has voiced her concerns over disabled fans' experience at gigs. "I have had some frustrating experiences at gigs and festivals," confessed Begley, who apparently celebrated her victory by going to a Laura Marling gig. "Sometimes access can be poor because of lots of steps and poor lighting. But often the problem can lie with a lack of knowledge on the part of staff. I think it is essential for venues to train all their staff in disability awareness so as they are able to deal sensitively with disabled customers."

The 27 year-old from Northern Ireland beat favourite Leah McFall to sign a £100,000 recording contract. McFall was being coached by The Voice judge and former Black Eyed Peas', Will.i.am, who seemed set on knocking the wind out of the ecstatic winner's sails with an odd, unsportsmanly tweet: "You should feel the audiences vibration in the room tonight after the public's vote... its unexplainable... so sad... perplexed." According to Yahoo!'s omg!, Begley was personally congratulated by the American singer and producer after the gig, saying she has "no hard feelings."

Jessie J Responds To Criticisms Of Her Appearance On The Voice

Jessie J

Jessie J’s debut on the first season of The Voice might have been a right laugh for some, but the singer is still struggling to win over a few viewers and critics in season two.

We’re not quite sure what the singer did wrong during last Saturday’s season premiere. She did a pretty good job of filling the role of the quirky, overly emotional panellist, if you ask us. Of course, you probably weren’t, so here are some critics, commenting on Jessie’s judging prowess instead: The Mirror's Ian Hyland wrote: “I was beginning to wish Jessie had decided on a sponsored silence for Comic Relief rather than shaving her head.” Another criticism went: “But what really kills the mood is the malign presence of Jessie J, who still mistakes being charmless, rude, egotistical and unpleasant for being 'real'.”

Ouch. Perhaps that’s a bit too harsh for someone, who’s just putting in a tad more feeling into the job than we’re used to? But we assume what hurt the most was probably the number of viewers, expressing their distaste for the singer’s antics. It’s no wonder then, that a rather affected Jessie took to Twitter to vent: “And we hung out when? An edited version is never the full story. You wouldn't write a review on a book after reading 3 pages would you?” She added: “When you go to b***** about someone you have never met.... Think.... for a second before you do... 'Oh yeah I have NEVER met them'.”

Various Artists - 'Dermot O'Leary Presents The Saturday Sessions 2013' Album Review

Dermot O'Leary's Saturday Sessions Allbum Review

Using a tried-and-tested formula of acoustic versions and covers, this most recent instalment of the series sees further performances for Dermot O'Leary's radio show now available to own.  The artists included cover a broad spectrum, from near-unknowns to arena fillers, and predictably results vary from the terrific to the terrible.

A brave and successful take on 'Eleanor Rigby' from Emeli Sande begins proceedings, while Will Young reminds us of his vocal talent on a lovely rendition of Blondie's 'Hanging On The Telephone'.  The classic Jackson 5 number 'I Want You Back' loses its magic in the hands (or should that be voice?) of Rachel Sermanni, but the running is immediately rescued by The Do taking on Kings Of Leon's 'Sex On Fire'.  They morph the rock anthem into a chill-out moment and in vocalist Olivia Merilahti have a fantastic talent.  Of those presenting their own material, Florence + The Machine and Jessie J give solid presentations of 'Never Let Me Go' and 'Price Tag' respectively, while Robbie Williams' altered performance of 'Candy' does well to take it away from sounding like an advertising jingle and make it a folk-style sing-a-long.

An ill-advised attempt at Blur's 'Song 2' from Plan B begins the second disc in horrendous manner, something that becomes all the more surprising once you hear the beautifully soulful version of 'Empire State Of Mind' gifted by Maverick Sabre.  Miles Kane gives a decent rendition of The 'Stones 'Play With Fire' before Dry The River provide a highlight of this release with a lovely cover of 'Homeward Bound', originally by Simon & Garfunkel.  A trio of British bands close out this record and, for an act with such a fierce live reputation, Kasabian's 'Days Are Forgotten' is limp to say the least.  By contrast, the Manic Street Preachers bring a raucous 'Your Love Alone Is Not Enough' and Athlete provide a stirring 'Wires' - a worthy selection as the latter book-end.

Unpick This One! Liam Payne Brands Boy George "Weird" In Bizarre Twitter Spat

One Direction Boy George Liam Payne Harry Styles Jessie J Lana Del Rey

The One Direction boys seemed in pretty high spirits at the BRIT Awards in London last night. There was Harry, dancing around the stage like a lunatic, Louis helping himself to the complimentary fizz, Zayn looking all mysterious and broody, and the little Irish fella was presumably just happy to be there. But what about Liam? Something appeared to have riled our Liam, and we may have found the answer. Ready for this? Deep breath.

Liam Payne Liam Payne Incurred The Wrath Of Boy George At The Brits

80's pop star Boy George - who debuted a slimmer, altogether healthier look this week - was at the bash with his young niece, getting snaps with her favourite pop stars. Now, there appears to have been some confusion when the One Direction boys came there way. Later on Twitter, the Karma Chameleon hit-maker wrote, "Top marks to Harry Styles for stopping for a picture with my niece and B*llox's to Liam and the disrespectful w**ker of a minder!" adding, "Stars of the night, Harry Styles, Lana Del Rey, Jessie J. Too many drug f**ked twits to mention elsewhere! Emily Sande (sic) was great!" George later suggested Harry Styles would leave the band, saying, "You heard it here first!"

It might be the Brit Awards 2013 tonight, but as far as the press were concerned, it was a star from the US who captivated them as the stars arrived for the UK's musical industry awards showcase this evening in London (February 20, 2013). Much has been made of Taylor Swift and Harry Styles both being at the event tonight, and it's believed that they're to keep kept apart; that's just as well because if he gets a sight of Taylor tonight we reckon he'll be itching to get back together with her.

The Voice UK Back With A New Format; Will It Work?

Jessie J Will.i.am Tom Jones Danny O'Donoghue

The Voice didn’t exactly have the huge success in the UK that its format has been enjoying in the USA, where it’s emerged as a considerable rival to both American Idol and The X Factor in the reality singing stakes. We can’t even remember the name of last year’s winner, and with good reason, given that their winning single didn’t even make the UK top 40 singles charts. Meanwhile, the proposed finalists live tour – a staple for the likes of the X Factor after their series has finished – never materialised after a slow take-up in tickets meant they had to cancel all the dates. Embarrassing.

However, rather than retreating, the BBC has had a tweak of the format and announced that the show will be returning for a second series. The show’s highest ratings came during the ‘blind’ auditions, with judges picking singers for their teams based only on hearing them. To maintain interest in the live shows, the BBC have announced that judges (called coaches, remember) will be allowed to ‘steal’ a losing member of others’ teams if they think they still see something in them. Additionally, each coach is going to have 12 contestants in their team. Two more than last year. All four of last year's coaches, Will.i.am, Jessie J, Tom Jones and Danny O'Donoghue will return.

So will it make a difference? We’re not too convinced, but executive Producer Moira Ross is. According to The Independent she said: “We can’t wait for The Voice UK to return to Saturday nights. With our four global superstars back on board, an unrivalled standard of vocal talent and the added excitement of the “Steals” and “Knockouts”, it’s set to be an extraordinary series.”

Jessie J, Will.i.iam And Co. To Return To The Voice Next Season

Jessie J Will.i.am Tom Jones

The next season of The Voice will see all of the players from the last - thats Tom Jones, Jessie J, Will.i.am and Danny O'Donoghue from the Script - return to their posts on the show for another run, a new trailer by the BBC reveals.

In the trailer, which aired on the BBC earlier today, all four of the judges appear together in a sneak peak of things to come in the new year. The trailer, imaginatively called 'Love 2013,' also treats fans of Doctor Who and Miranda by showing sneak peaks at those shows too, promising a rather compulsive viewing period for license payers next year.

The Voice is expected to return to screens in the spring, with the show's producers hoping it can reach the standard set by fellow BBC compatriot Strictly Come Dancing, rather than it's musical talent show rival The X Factor, which suffered a massive ratings drop during its last season, whilst Strictly's viewer figures went up.

No Surprises: The Voice Judges Confirmed For Series Two

Jessie J Tom Jones The Script Will.i.am Danny O'Donoghue

The four judges from The Voice will be returning for the second series, which means fans of the show will once again be treated to Will.i.am saying "dope" a lot, Danny O'Donoghue talking drivel, Jessie J telling people she knows what it's like to be a female in the record business and Tom Jones generally looking bemused.

The BBC were probably most keen to sign Jessie J on for the second series, and the 'Do It Like a Dude' singer initially said she wouldn't be returning to the show. There were also rumours that Sir Tom might quit the show, while O'Donoghue is presumably just happy to be there. Audience figures for the first series began strongly, beating ITV's behemoth X Factor before dropping off monumentally. Leanne Mitchell won the first series. That's Leanne Mitchell. Anyone?

Anyway, they're all set to do it again, with O'Donoghue saying he has high hopes for the spring return. "The level of singers auditioning has gone through the roof", he told the BBC. The programme's format is likely to change slightly to keep viewers more interested in the latter stages of the competition. The blind auditions are a unique aspect of the show, though after that, it essentially follows the same tried and tested format of X Factor and Pop Idol. Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival in August, BBC controller of entertainment Mark Lindsey hinted at more use of the "spinning chair" segment.

Video - Jessie J Experiments With Tiger Head

British singer Jessie J is seen leaving Boa restaurant before shopping at Joy Rich in Los Angeles. The Domino singer says hello to the photographers as she leaves the restaurant and greets them again as she heads into Joy Rich. While browsing, she fools around with several items, including a Tiger Head and looks at a pair of striped trousers. She leaves the store, carrying a large bag, which she shows off to the photographers.

Jessie recently attended the pre-Grammy's party, where she paid tribute to her idol, tragic singer Whitney Houston
