Jessica Simpson's appearance on Katie Couric's new chat show was a bit of a coup for the former news anchor. What better way to launch a new chat show than with a bit of good news for viewers to revel in? Simpson appeared in the show to talk about her life as a new mum - she gave birth to her daughter Maxwell Drew on May 1, 2012 and since then has been busy trying to shed her post-baby weight. She's managed to shift more than 40 pounds already, but the Weight Watchers spokeswoman explained that she still has a way to go to get the figure that she really wants.
On the debut episode of 'Katie' yesterday (September 10, 2012), Jessica explained "My doctors told me [my pregnancy weight] was a lot of water, and when my water broke ... All the weight did not come out with the baby." The 32 year-old added that she's concentrating on watching what she eats and maintaining a healthy diet. "I had to stay focused on my diet. I want to be as healthy as I can because I'm a mom now." It's not all about food though. Simpson's been making use of a pedometer to track her steps and trying to make sure that she's getting plenty of exercise in, to burn off the baby weight as well.
It's not been easy for Simpson, but she's shown real determination, saying "I've set small goals for myself. I've lost weight every week, thank God, but I've worked really hard. I have to shoot a new season of my show 'Fashion Star,' so I want to be in all the pretty dresses. I'm 10 pounds away from that."
